What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Yeh stat is fine dude. The mad thing is. It used to get warmer with an old sensor in. Goin to have to have a look at the connectors

I've heard of some people changing back to the old sensor when the new one made things worse..

That's mad!? Don't suppose there could be any issues with the new sensor you put in? Can't offer over much help tbh, neveer really paid attention until I read some threads on here, then noticed mine hovers between 70 and 85, thought I just had a very efficient engine/cooling system LOL! New stat cured it, immediately up to 90 and stays there.
Strange that. Thought it could only be stat or temp sensor... Would it be worth trying another sensor on it?

Did you fit a genuine CTS, as the cheap eBay ones never last long if they do work at all.

I'll check the cts with VCDS for you mate. Sometimes they don't throw a fault code up, but if you check the measuring block for coolant temp it shows a completely different temp to the dash.

Try another sensor and if no avail a new stat. Mine only went to 65 degrees and I was told this could effect economy so I changed it and ir went streight to 90

Nope both genuine parts, goin get another set and see wha go on!
Don't do ebay buys when it comes to parts like that, will try 1 at a time and go from there.

Nice1 jim!

Isn't there two cts sensors on the 1.9
One for the temp gauge and one for ecu?
Could be worth changing then both with a new stat

Sure I read somewhere that the new style Green 4-pin CTS houses both ECU and temp gauge sensors...does that sound right or no?

My AVF has two CTS, one at the back, and one down by the lower pipe into the radiator on the nearside.

Aw well I stand corrected lol
So only the one below the tandem pump on the 1.9 awx then?

My AVF has the green dual CTS below the tandem pump, The other 2 pin by the rad is for the fan switch.

Today I fixed my broken front armrest lid, & did 199k service with Quantum platinum, VAG filters & Forte diesel fuel system cleaner.

New front lower arms, front ARB drop links, front ARB bushes, painted calipers, and EGR clean with new gaskets.

Do all that yourself Jimmy?

I did mate, today was tinkering time.

Well my springs didn't arrive today, but I've been told they will be here in the morning. I'll be honest I'm not holding my breath.

I cracked on with the other parts today anyway, and did a couple of other bits that I had planned for next week.

Front lower arms
Front ARB bushes, and drop links
Dismantled the B5 shocks and fitted the perches to my new shocks
Painted the front calipers why it was sunny
Cleaned the egr and elbow that connects to it, and replaced the seals

Some pics of the old battered bushes

The EGR wasn't that dirty, and tbh didn't really need cleaning, but while I had it off I gave it a quick clean anyway. I suspect it has been cleaned before because I could see scratches in there. I was going to clean the inlet too, but as there was hardly any build up I've left it for now, but I already have the gasket for when I do.

It now feels like a new car on the twisties, the steering is much more responsive and steady through bends. I can't wait to get the new shocks and springs on, and have a four wheel alignment now.

Yeah mate feels like a new car, I can't wait to get the H&R's and new shocks on now. Once it's had a full four wheel alignment it should be planted.

Yeah defo, with brand new shocks and springs and all that work you'll be bear-hugging the streets of Mancunia! You got an RS4 rear anti-roll bar yet? That's next on my list seeing as the collars are cracked already....

Where did you get all the bits, AllGermanParts?

Replaced drivers side window regulator yesterday. It was a lot easier than I expected, £66 from GSF in Shrewsbury which wasn't too bad either.

Unfortunately the Germans are not playing ball regarding the suspension I ordered 5 weeks ago. They keep putting back the production date. More like they are supplying their national dealers ahead of shipping to UK dealers.

Ah well give the Audi a good clean, I might even get the purple Dyson out.

Got the nose down last night

No ARB as of yet mate, but it's on the list.

Shocks were from eBay, arms and links from euro car parts (Lemforder), and the springs are from Awesome GTI

Here's a comparison of the ride heights

Spent about 9hrs on it over Friday/Saturday mate. The suspension on these is hard work, but it was all worth it when I dropped it down off the stands.

It's the only car I've thought about giving up on, and sending to my mates garage when it comes to lowering.
Although if the springs had turned up on Friday like they were supposed to, I could have done it all together so it would probably have been easier.

Fitted new pagid front discs and pads after one of the pads ate itself. Don't think the old pads were very good as they are miles better already

Mine has 312's, they are a ****** heavy disc. Brakes were always poor on my car, seem miles better now.

I used them to upgrade to 312mm on my bora too. For the price they're good, and don't give off loads of dust.

Today I ordered a new set of wheels for the Avant. I'm tired of trying to keep the old LM reps clean and tidy.
I kerbed both passenger side wheels the other day and I've had to remove all the lacquer from the front wheel and try to polish it up but it's not worked to well.
I'm sticking with the staggered fitment but I'm going with Momo Sentry wheels in mat black, 8.5x19 fronts and 9.5x19 rears. The rears look particularly good with a nice concave dish.
