Personally, unless you have charcoal S4 grille you're better off leaving the rings as a chrome feature. Done black they just disappear.
Been busy today.... replaced a a rather soggy tail lamp. The old was filled as far as the indicator with rain water.
Fitted new MTEC discs and pads all round, painted the calipers and a set of S4 Avus wheels. Much better!
Now, about that ride height!

Wrapped the interior trim with 4d carbon black wrap and also converted my single din to Rns e
Finaly bit the bullet and bought the rather pricey gear oil at Audi for the gearbox and rear differential.
£96.41
from Highland Audi Inverness.
Sadly they no longer (apparently) do half litres, so had to buy two litres for the rear diff
Changed the rear diff oil this afternoon using a 5l pressurised garden sprayer bought for the job. £5 ebay.
Happily filler and drain plugs came out no problems.
Gearbox oil change tomorrow. Car at 95,000 miles now.

Something to ponder over there. I removed the rings and stood back to have a look, you can kind of get the idea what it will look like.
Your right, the rings do merge into one.

Little bit of base colour coats for the 204,000 mile grille refresh.......
Red is VW flash red and silver is Audi Quartz Grey metallic.
Another coat and then some lacquer before several days of drying which should be ready for fitting at the weekend along with some OEM red mirror covers to fit! Little splashes of colour along the same lines as Minis and common with the Cliosport.net forum that I came from with my old 172 Cup years ago.
I know its not to everyone's taste but I have an original grille spare just in case.....

Don't go changing it if people don't like it mate. If it makes you happy go for it, it's good to be different!
Thanks mate, I never do anything cosmetic to a car I own without having a backup option, that's what I mean.
I tried quite a few different things with the Renaultsport I had, some didn't turn out so well, and I found that some things seemed really good, until the rose tinted specs wore off......but sometimes they looked good.
Well that's true mate I know what you mean. It's good to know when other people appreciate your mods!
Gave the car an oil and filter change with Castrols finest. Next job is to give it a damn good clean next weekend!
Today I finished off my double din conversion and fitted my Xtrons multi media HU. Also fitted my ipod/ashtray dock. It works really well.
The Xtrons is very cheap and the user interface is a bit slow but everything works fine and it's nice to have Bluetooth/Satnav/ipod/phone/reverse camera in one unit. I just need to wire up the reverse camera.

Ive just bought an A8 light switch from ebay because it has a nice chrome surround to the switch and as they are the same size as the a4 switch the face plate will go straight onto my passat headlight switch that has the chrome handle thus creating a switch with a genuine audi face plate with chrome trim and the matching chrome handle. confused ??? will post up pics when fitted just waiting for it to plop through the letterbox
Would be really interested to hear what you think of the Xtrons unit as it is the one I have been planning on getting. Maybe even if you could post some videos of it in action so we can see how it goes!
I tried downloading a video but my sh*te laptop doesn't want to know. Have a look at this video on youtube XTRONS PF70FSF Review 7" Custom Fit For Ford Focus HD 3D Rotating Interface GPS, Radio, DVD - YouTube its a ford focus fit HU but the functionality is identical to the Audi one.
The quality, fit and finish is not brilliant but if your on a budget (£320) then this is ideal. At first glance it looks ok and does look OE unless you have seen a genuine RNS-d or RNS-e. The plastic fascia is black, doesn't match the original dash colour and is very cheap.
As long as your not expecting too much from the quality then the xtrons unit has plenty of functionality at a relatively cheap price.
Your coolant flange is where your temp sensor is plugged into or pushed into should I say, it's directly under your vacuum pump
Fitted door marker lights and carbon wrapped (badly as it was in a hurry)a door trim to decide if I like it.

photos of finished A8 switch mod. Face plate and chrome surround fitted to the golf mk4/passat headlight switch from ebay. I mainly did it because the angle of the symbols on the golf switch finally did me in being on a slant. 
Looks good! I have an aftermarket switch which had angled symbols for the fogs. It could eventually start annoying me haha

Wrap looks good, almost as good as OEM in my S4. What would bug me though is the fact the weave goes different directions on the ashtray and gear stick surround.

Haha its a dark maroon, pictures definitely don't do the colour justice.
