Visited blackburn and Preston audi this weekend about a s3.Talked to a couple of salesmen and both said point blank there was no way they would even try to match drive the deal. I was surprised they didn't even try and offer some form of discount maybe 6% or 7%,no not interested. So has anybody got a decent discount from any north west dealer? Thanks

I bought mine from Liverpool Audi a few weeks ago. Customer service has been excellent and they did me a great deal. One thing to keep in mind is, Audi dealership cost into the price of your car/any discounts along with after service extras. i.e. They filled my tank up with fuel today, whilst it was being valeted and did body protection free also :)

Same here. Had my S3 8V since January and Blackburn is my local dealer. They said no point blank and so did Preston.

Give Kings Lynn a call. Ask to speak to Daniel and say Graeme at GNJ Motorsport sent you his way and he will give you as good a deal as possible. Can sort the order over the phone then have a trip down to collect. That is what I did and saved a fortune. I got 9% off but don't think will do that now but I bet they will do 7%.......

If your local dealer won't match drive the deal price then you have the option of using the drive the deal service. You should still end up with a dealer that isn't too far away.

I'm in the SE and used a drive the deal quote to get around 9% off from my local dealer. I made them a simple 'take it or leave it' offer and they took it.

I managed to get 5% off the new S3 saloon... but that was only because my friend bought one the day before and we walked in with his spec, got his pen and wrote a big X2 on the page.

Crewe and Macclesfield are both highly rated dealers on forums over the years.

No idea what their view on matching discounts is though.

This is a purely personal view which you may or may not agree with. When you are buying, possibly your first Audi, it is worth considering if this is likely to be your one and only purchase of an Audi or are you likely to be buying them in the future as well. If that's the case it may well be worthwhile building a 'relationship' with a local dealer. You may not get the maximum discount this time but you stand a better chance of getting a better discount as you purchase more cars from them.

I have been using the same dealer (and the same salesman) for the past 16 years and nine A3s and I know I will always be offered a discount that will match any other offer. Also I know that if I have any issues with the car they will go out of their way to fix it and quite often at no cost to me. Providing the extra wiring for my TomTom on my latest A3 as well as activating the extra ACC menu at their AfterSales Evening yesterday (see my other post for details) are just two examples.

It's a matter of deciding which is more important to you. Short time gain on this particular purchase or perhaps the same discount over a much longer period with much less hassle involved.

I've never had problems with my local dealer sorting issues despite all my cars coming from the other end of the country.

In the end I purchased via. Drive the Deal, I had 4 Audi dealerships all vying for my trade at the same time, was getting to be a bit of a headache with 'e-mail tennis' in works time!

Manchester couldn't get anywhere near the broker price, £100 out a month lol, still rang me saying 'what do you think of our price'?!!
Bolton - still £30 out a month after loads of e-mails, they threw in GAP stating it was worth £700, I said I can get GAP return to invoice for years 2-4 inclusive for just over £150 so forget it.
Doncaster (only got involved with them due to a work colleague recommendation) - similar to Bolton within a few pence minus the GAP.
Huddersfield (again work recommendation) - reckoned they could've matched the quote within a 'few quid' whatever that means(?) after I had signed up with DtD.

So, I will be travelling a good few miles to get mine, but so what it's a day trip out to pick up what I hope is a fabulous piece of kit!:sm4:

Personally, Dave, at my time of life I much prefer having any discount savings in my pocket now, not over a period of time, as who knows what the future brings! :sm4:

I agree - I got my previous car on DTD at a different dealer but still my local dealer has been great.

If you are willing to get the car from anywhere (delivery is included in the price anyways!) then you can go direct through drivethedeal

You know you can just get it delivered as well :)

Who did you speak to at Preston as originally the sales manager couldn't do a deal for me but ended up with a great deal through Raj at Preston who was great all the way through and fought my case. Have you tried Lakeland Audi, smaller dealership couldn't quite match my deal but were keen for the business with good communications?

I suppose it depends on what allocation they have left if they are up on sales theres less incentive to discount remaining stock.

Thanks for all the replies, can't remember the Preston salesman name. Will email a few dealers and see what happens.

What, on a transporter or somebody tearing it down the M6?
No thanks, I like to drive mine away from the dealers thank you......

Shock horror, a transporter :O You do know thats how it gets to the dealer right? Ha ha, its not that bad - I had my TT delivered and it was in good condition :) And if it was the difference of £1k and delivered on a transporter vs driving away from the dealer, I think i would pick the £1k saving

Drive the deal told me it's not a transporter and that someone will drive it down.....

Hmmm, no thanks !

To be fair if it's loads cheaper train ticket to collect would be the way to go.

Really, thats fair enough I guess, better if its on a transporter, prob wouldn't be happy with them driving it! And very true a train ticket isn't too much :)

Don't really know where we're going with all this but I'm happy to have a day out somewhere I've not been before instead of standing in my front window looking at the clock. I also prefer to have the vehicle handover at the dealer instead of what I would perceive as some 'rushed' affair on my residential street with all and sundry stood around gawping.

Might be worth trying Bolton Audi which is part of Inchcape who supply/have supplied DTD.

As per one of my previous posts, Bolton were willing to discount but couldn't match DtD, they were £30 off and obviously had a figure in mind which they would not go below.

Understand your point - each to their own- I am just trying to say it's not a big deal :) there are 1000s of company car drivers that have their cars delivered every week without problem. Just trying to make the point that it's worth saving some money for- I suggested picking up my new A3 from Watford Audi and the dealer said don't be silly we will deliver it- so it's obviously not too alien a concept ;)

Again, would be happy to risk a few neighbours gawping to save £1k

My car will be my own pride and joy and I never inferred or said it was an alien concept, like you say different strokes for different folks.

Totally agree, and it is basically subjective- I would always prefer to pick it up- but a lot of people aren't physically able to pick it up and don't have the choice - company car, lease car where dealer is based in Aberdeen, person not able to get a lift there, can't get time off etc- but it doesn't mean it's not their pride and joy- we can all still enjoy our cars :)

I'd be surprised if Macclesfield Audi give you much off. They didn't move much when we got our Allroad and I showed them the DtD price, but they are a perfectly pleasant bunch.

You might want to try Carwow as well as you get responses direct from the dealers fleet department and they usually say the deal is only available over the internet and you won't get the same deal if you walk into the showroom.

Email today from Drive the Deal

A3 SB 1.4 TFSI SE 9.5%

On the other hand, if you want a BMW 116i you can get 13.5%, and a Focus Zetec is going for a whopping 29.25% discount!

I know it's crazy- altho fords are overpriced to start with- they are nearly audi prices at full price (titanium x for £25k)

I received approx 13.1% off of my new car. Not drive the deal, just made two salesman battle it out with each other. One promised me 10% off on stock, so then the other offered me 10% off factory build and then drove the price down from there.

Hi ...
As I'd said in an earlier post some time back I was shocked at myself for not haggling .....while I was off shore I told my salesman ...Darren at Preston that it's common place to get 9% and I showed him some posts on here! he mailed me back and give my 6 right off.
Being away I'm not going to argue over some thing like 2% extra.
My silver S3 came two months early and has been sat waiting for me to come home.....so much so Darren has ordered me the same car again, because the BOSS doesn't want a new car sitting still for me to come home in July.....so try my s3 SB it's there waiting but is fully loaded almost.
Where are you based

New member on here and reason for the reply is I took this car out today. They were good enough to give it to me for the afternoon and I'm very impressed. Great spec too. Very tempted!!!

We didn't talk numbers on that car but I'm happy to give him a call tomorrow and find out. I would imagine drive the deal would be better however. If your thinking of pcp have you tried Blue Chilli? Initially I was looking for a golf R and was quoted £285p/m (10k per year, 3 years, £4k upfront)

Gregan....
Was that my ordered car you drove....if so how did it go.
When I eventually get back from overseas I've the same car waiting only it'll be the New silver with red brake callipers
Are you based in Preston.....
