my new s line has developed a slight rattle from the NS rear, seems to be coming from inside the car, doesn't do it all the time and I have checked the spare wheel etc just to make sure all is tight,

my windows also rattle when closed and going over a large bump is this normal ?

Both myself and my other half have very new Audis (me A3, him A4 and both S-Line) and we've had to take them both in for rattling issues which range from the slightly annoying to the downright scary. Neither did it all the time which obviously makes life difficult for the poor tech in service! However, we've both had the same thing done - transparent tape around the sills (go figure) - and, fingers crossed, it's 'solved' the problem. The very nice man in service said that it's quite common in S-Line cars as they're so stiff.

I don't know why it's worked but it has so if you've got an S-Line that's new, speak to the dealer and get it done.

I do not care about rattles. They are cars, complex mechanical devices. Also aircrafts rattle. Focus your listening on your next flight when there is a turbulence area.

Mechanics of the car has nothing really to do with rattles. A car costing that amount should be put together properly enough not to rattle, period..

A complex mechanical device is supposed to be an assembly of smaller parts. The bigger the number of parts, the bigger the possibility that the assembly of them become loose. Especially if these parts are always subject to vibrations, torsions and shocks. Nothing strange in this.

Due to the complex fitting and interaction between parts it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find the root cause of some subtle rattlings. I remember, on my old BMW Z4 E89, a squeaky rear suspension assembly that the dealer never resolved. The noise was also related to the outside temperature: more noise in winter, less in summer.

Yes, because to the variables you have to add also the natural stretching of the materials depending from temperature (Concorde used to became longer of several centimeters when heated by air friction at supersonic speeds).

Believe me, you could have major rattles fixed if there is a loose connector or something similar, but I experienced that sometimes removing a door panel and refitting it could generate new random rattles! It is always a trade off.

Front seatbelts have a slide that raises up the clip and stopped mine rattling against the seat.

Well I couldn't hear anything rattling in the film clip.

................just realised I had the sound on mute !

so, my care went in, they changed some B pillar clips and were happy, driving home rattle still there so back in tomorrow,

What was worse is that they damaged my front alloy whilst they had the car, even worse they tried to cover it up !!

They are going to sort it and I have stated that they are NOT to refurb, I want a new one,

I had the same and was getting very annoyed, Aberdeen Audi sussed it with 2 mins of driving it.

It was the rubber seal in the frame of the door, which hold the window in place.

If you wash these they dry out, so they used some special Audi lubircator on the door seals, went for a drive again and the noise had completely gone.

I was shocked, because it felt like it was something more serious. But wasn't.

Worth a try with your dealer.

update, they have taken the side panels off and the rattle / squeak is still there, they are now having to ask audi technical for assistance,

This is the 3rd or 4th issue in 2 months and the car hasn't even done 900 miles, I really want them to replace with another vehicle, what do you think as this many issues cannot be normal

Replacing a whole vehicle is a big feat, which could take a while if you have desirable spec. I think they should offer you your servicing/MOT/extended warranty for free or possibly a partial refund if it does warrant something. A whole new car is too much IMO, but I do appreciate how raging mad you must be; I'd be the same.
