It not legal in the uk.
But so is speeding but we all still do it from time to time
At least when you are going faster than the speed limit you are looking where you are going and not being distracted by a screen.
What about speeding and watching a DVD
Now that would be stupid. Even driving slowly and watching a DVD is stupid and shows a total disregard for other road users.
Personally I enjoy driving far too much to want to be distracted by watching a DVD.
Do you need the Tech Pack?
And is the change reversible?
Yes, thats me!
I do about 3 a week currently for both A3's and VW Golf's.
Let me know if your interested in having it done. Alporterjunk@gmail.com
Do you need the car to do this? (i.e. can it be done over the internet) and how much?
EDIT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Whhops I have seen the e-bay and now have my answers.. I will be in Birmingham for a reunion in August, the 9th, I will be in touch near the time!
Sorry, but I have to chime in and give a bit of a rant on this. If you're activating it to keep the kids or your passenger entertained while you concentrate on driving on the road, sure, go ahead and activate it.
If you're activating it so you can watch a movie while you're driving, I couldn't think of a stupider thing you could do. Sorry. Straight up.
I lost a very good friend last year because of this exact reason: some idiot in a VW with a RNS510 system enabled VIM, was watching a movie, veered into the opposing lane, and hit my friend head on at 70kph. Dead on impact.
Don't be a complete idiot. There is zero reason for you to need to watch The Bourne Legacy while driving to work. I'd love to see how you felt if you had lost someone as a result of this, or been on the receiving end of it.
'for demo purposes'.....dont make me laugh'
Surely the forum moderators cant support such work?
after taking a spin in the S3 and thinking about this further.....surely the moderators have a legal obligation to report such activity or at the least close the thread?
So does that mean an owner can do anything he/she likes to their vehicle and make it as unsafe to use on the road without it being illegal. I somehow don't think so. All cars have to comply with the UK Construction and Use regulations and they way of showing that a new car complies with these regulations is UK Type Approval.
That's not what I am saying, we have laws, MOT tests etc. that make sure a car is roadworthy or legal. I doubt very much if a police officer will start quoting 'this car doesn't meet type approval' to you...
