Hi All.

I'm looking into getting a quick shifter for my 2004 1.9tdi Quattro Sport Avant (6spd). I have always had one on my BMW's in the past and love the feel.
Some of the kits listed on eBay specifically say not for 2.5 or Quattro sport and only up to 2003 year models.
My question is, does the Quattro Sport have a different shifter or does the FWD one fit or can anyone recommend a specific kit.

Thanks!

I've always wanted a shirt shifter for mine too, so will be nice to hear anyone's advice also :) I've got a 1.9tdi fwd.

Didn't realise it could be done on a a4.... I'd also be interested in loosing a bit of gear lever movement

There are kits available on eBay for not much money, I really need to get underneath the car and see what the standard shifter looks like.

Any further developments lads?? I'd be interested in one too :)

havnt looked what the A4's look like but on SC.net there was a D.I.Y guie which i had done to my leon. made it just the same as the Forge one. all you needed was a nut and bolt and drill. maybe do some thing simular. barley cost anything. was for back and forth. not side to side

Did anyone experiment and solve this?!
I might give it a visual inspection one day to try and understand why lots of the kits for the A4 B6 are not meant for the quattro model, I suspect the setup is different due to limited space.

Im running the Neuspeed Kit, expensive but a really good bit of kit. I've had it fitted at least a year now :)

Did you retain your OEM gear-knob and gaitor with that kit?

What about kits like this: AUDI A4 01-03 ALLOY SHORT SHIFTER QUICK GEAR SHIFT KIT | eBay

I thought that all you needed to change was the gear stick and joint as that is where the reduction is made by shortening it from the pivot?

The FWD and AWD models surely share the same mechanical stick and right angled joint, but the link to the gearbox would be different.

According to ETKA:
Part number 8E0711055E for Engine types BBJ,AVF,BFB, AMB,AMM,BDV, ASN,BGW,BLB.
Part number 8E0711055K for Engine types BAU,BDH,BCZ, BDG.

So slight different revision but same part.

Are the second set of engines all FWD (I'm only aware of mine AVF being Quattro)?

Yes mate, kept the same gear knob and gaitor, still yet to change for a newer one lol, as for the others im not sure, APS in Brackley work on my car and fitted it for me :)

That kit does not fit the Quattro according to the buyer !!

Apparently nothing apart from the 1.8T FWD, but I dont believe the compatability function of ebay, chosen by the seller for what models and widely inacurate (from experience!)

I have done this to the death for my 03 1.9 AVF 6 speed FRK gearbox in my Passat 130 tdi Sport.

5+ sellers all came back and said fits 5 speed only :banghead:
