I have ordered an A3 S-line 140 cod. It has moved from build week 27 to 24. I've decided I want LED lights and Tech Pack+ and put in the request at the beginning of last week. Because of MY2015 changes the garage are having real problems securing the change to specification. My franchise dealer has tried every day with no success as the Audi computer appears to be in lockdown.

Anyone else had this problem? I'm getting concerned that my car may move to the code where I can't change the spec.

And one other thing: I've read the worrying reports of the new electronic toys criminals use to steal your car. I'm thinking of a disklok. Are they compatible with the flat bottom S-line steering wheel and if so, what size do you guys a order?

many thanks.

In a similar situation myself with MY15. I have a bw25 S3 on order and am looking to change the colour to Sepang. Dealer says he is calling Audi everyday but as you say, they don't seem to be able to make the change yet. Something to do with Audi changing all the post BW22 cars to my15 apparently, whatever that may mean. He didn't seem to think there would be any problem tho. Which is good :uhm:

System is back up now I think- my dealer was finally able to put my changes on the system today

Can I ask who your dealer is? My car changes to code 20 as of Monday morning to lock me in to a BW 23 so I need to do this today. I'm trying to change my colour from monsoon to daytona and need to get it sorted so I think I need to put some pressure on them.

Mine is Watford- said the system was locked until yesterday (mine BW not til 27 tho!)

The most important topic in this thread, shown above, seems to have been mostly ignored. This is becoming a real problem, in particular for those who specify keyless operation. One of the advantages of the ignition key system is the extra security layer provided by a mechanical system. This is the reason why I didn't specify keyless control.
But, the question is this: which steering wheel lock actually fits the s-line wheel? Which provides the longest removal time without the key?

Heard from my dealer today that they had (at last) managed to change the spec of my BW27 car (now BW25 confirmed) in every respect asked for except colour coded door mirror caps. Although the configurator allows it and the brochures allow it, Audi apparently will not, and will not budge. My dealer is still pursuing this but have said that they will order spares and get them sprayed if it comes to it.

Had you been having problems trying to change the spec during this MY2015 lockdown?

Any news Palacemads3? Hope you got fixed.

No, didn't get done. I had phoned on Thursday and the guy insisted it couldn't be done. I refereed to people here who had managed to do it. Phoned back again yesterday to be told my car had been changed to code 20 so nothing could be changed. He could order me a new one but I would then be looking at an end of year delivery. Bit disappointed really, although I'm trying to not be as otherwise I'm just going to ruin the whole experience of getting a car that I've already been waiting for for months. I want to get the level of excitement back that I previously had.

Ironically as soon as I had finished on the phone with the dealer I saw a monsoon grey drive past me! It did look pretty good. I think I'm going to try get a professional detailed to prepare it prior to my collection to make it look as good as it can.

That's irritating for you. I happen to think it looks fantastic in either grey colour so I'm sure that excitement level will be back to full level soon. Looking forward to some pics when it arrives.

Cheers. Apart from the odd one driving past me I've not really looked at one in the flesh. I'll sure to be posting pics when I get it!

Monsoon is awesome. I switched to sepang but I keep seeing monsoon and thinking 'damn, that looks classy...'

Sorry for the delayed reply.....

Yes, had confirmed the spec on 19th April, but dealer had been unable to do anything until (I believe) last Friday, after which they confirmed everything was ok apart from the colour coded door mirrors.

Sounds promising! I'll give mine a call in the morning. Thanks for your response.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I decided to go for the interior lighting pack but the dealer said that the systems were playing up and that they would let me know when it was confirmed the changes had gone through (mines BW27 not confirmed). Only this week has that confirmation gone through!

They also had a problem putting my actual order onto the system. I ordered at the dealer on April 7th but didn't get on the system until April 12th (thats what they say anyway!). Surely they need a new system if it's as bad as we are being told? It's 2014 for goodness sakes! Anyone would have thought they were still using MS Dos!

Just spoken to my dealer again. He's still having problems changing spec and is involving Audi support.

It seems absolutely crazy that it isn't more simple. Now discussing a reorder if we can't change the spec - but that will take months potentially.

Feel your pain Redgrouse, I am in exactly the same situation changing colour. Original bw was 26, am starting to get a little concerned that the build will lock before they make the change. Dealer says not to be concerned and they will get it done..

They are going to try again today. Thing is when you spend £30k on a car you want it just how you like it. Good luck - at least you have 2 weeks grace over me - I'm build week 24. Hopefully you should be okay. My dealer told me they had the same difficulties this time last year.

Update: because of Audi messing around with their computer system (updating MY2015 spec) I am unable to change my spec (adding LED lights and Audi connect) before build week 24. Amending the spec would push the car build back to week 38. This seems ridiculous. In fairness my dealer has tried every day to overcome the problem without success.

I have three options: 1) take my (BW 24) car as ordered; 2) the dealer will try and find an amendable car in production or 3) worst case scenario wait until BW38. I think option 2 is the least worst at present.

NB don't try and amend a spec anytime around the BW22 timeframe.

What spec do you have if you go for the first option? I can understand the option of Audi Connect being a big change but I am not sure a delay on picking up your shiny new ride with a change of headlights is worth a 14 week delay. It wouldn't for me anyway.

From this viewpoint, the wait seems bad, but I think it'd be worth it to get the spec you want. You'd always regret not waiting if you don't, but as hard as the wait would be, you'd never regret having waited once you finally have the car.

I can understand your viewpoint, but would having LED headlights over Xenon+ be really worth the 14 week wait?

Like I said, I can understand it if you went for say, the Tech pack over the standard sat nav (or no sat nav at all) as it's a massive difference in spec.

I have ordered the tech pack and it's an s-line so comes with the Xenon lights.

I agree. I want the car to come with the spec I want and not what is dictated by some glitch in the Audi computer system. At present I am inclined to wait unless the garage can source an amendable production car before BW38.

Had some good news. I let my BW24 car go and hoped the dealer could find me one before the BW38 slot. He came up trumps and found an amendable car in BW25. So only an extra week to wait and I get a car with what I wanted on it. Happy chap.

Good news, always better to get what you want, and a bonus that the extra wait is so minimal!

Pleased you got what you wanted at no real cost. Wish I had been so lucky!

Aha - both yours and mine BW 25 then :)

Good result for you, and well done to your dealer!

Just had a phone call at 8:15 this morning from the Dealer telling me that they had managed to get a code from Audi to allow the colour coded door mirrors to be included in my build (something about it's still a standard option in the European market???), and that the build week had moved forward a week to week 24 :)

Although that's splendid news on both counts, the reality is that I can now see potential delivery clashing with my summer holiday!

By a strange coincidence my build has now been updated to MY15 and still has body coloured mirrors. Now has red calipers as well. Build brought forward two weeks from 28 to 26 which means delivery may clash with a holiday.

When I first ordered my car about a month ago, I was later advised it was BW28, so all good for a 1st September delivery. When the MY15 changes came out I changed to Sepang Blue and added some more spec. From speaker to my Audi dealer yesterday, they advise a new build date of BW26.

Total, they have advised BW37! :-(

Just heard from my dealer too, they have now (finally) managed to change my colour order to sepang and it seems to have come forward another week to bw24, though this clashing with holiday problem seems to be catching! :faint:

If you could share the code for body coloured ears I would very much appreciate it
