Hi all,

I have a A4 sline 58 plate and it has the ****ty infotainment system, one of my biggest regrets was not getting an a4 with an iPod dock as all my other cars had it but anyway I thought a way roux it would be to just use the SD card slot and load all my music on the but the 8GB SDHC card won't work! i have an old 2GB SD card which i tried and that works fine.

Anyone had the same problem?

cheers in advance.

Apparently some sd cards are not compatible I belive, check handbook to the compatible ones (can't remember off top of my head which ones they are)

The infotainment radio doesn't support SD cards bigger than 2GB on the factory firmware. I did read reports of a firmware upgrade that allowed 4GB cards to be used but I can't remember the details - something like some radios had a TP issue and firmware fix for that had the happy side effect of breaking the 2GB barrier - if I can find a link that confirms it I'll post it here.

some systems have an issue with the SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards, and the handbook doesnt mention sdhc cards, just sd or mmc cards up to 32gb.Also states does not support drm protected files, and there may be cards which are not supported.Useful.Not. I have a 09 a4 with the basic mmi and ami.Ive used 32gb sdhc without a problem, decent brands like sandisk or verbatim with a high class (data transfer rate) such as class 10. Cards have differant speed transfers which affects the speed at which the card is read (obviously) the quicker the better. You shouldnt really have a prob with an 8gb card whether slow or fast.I would personally erase and reformat the card, and put what was on the 2gb card onto the 8gb card and see what happens. Also try another higher capacity card to eliminate a duff card.

OK, here it is - SW: 0310 installed under Audi SVM: B856A001 to fix a signal reception issue (traffic programme updates I think). The SW: 0310 update enables SDHC compatibility on some versions of the radio.

Now from what I've read it works on Concert radio units with hardware HW:02 and above (from around 2009). Not sure about Symphony radios or Concert older than 2009.

Do a search for the SVM: B856A001 and see what comes up.

Good luck

<EDIT> just realised that there might be some sort of non MMI SD card that isn't a Concert or Symphony radio - apologies if that's the case. The info I've added might be of use to someone who sees the title of the thread in any event.

The reason it doesn't work is because of the SDHC..you can get 8GB Sd cards but I believe they are so rare now with SDHC out. The above is available...you just need to convince AUDI to do it. I tried in bristol...They won't allow it saying that HO won't let them.

cheers for all the info guys! i have checked the handbook and it says the max supported is 4gb confirming what you guys are saying. i may try getting a non HC card and see what that does.

Don't know why Audi would update the firmware if i was willing to pay, i mean 4GB these days is nothing. I might try calling my local Audi dealer and see what they say.

Be prepared for a shock. On some other forums on this subject some dealers were asking £90 to £150 for performing SVM: B856A001 and that was a few yeas ago.
It might be easier to trawl eBay for 3 x 4GB SD crds and finally put that stupid little coin holder grill thingy on the centre console to some use ;-)

Just in case it helps, I have a symphony 6 cd radio number 8t2035195aa, display 8t0919603a, HW:HW01 and SW:0300.Sometimes use a usb stick, but still cant get a usb powered hard drive to work.
