It doesn't!
It actually uses the ABS sensors to detect any circumference differences in the tyres
How difficult is the initial setup/calibration you have to do? Sounds a bit tedious?
I personally wouldn't call it a tire pressure monitoring system, it's more of a low pressure warning system. As it doesn't monitor pressure, only warns when there is a definite and significant pressure change meaning wheel rotation is different.
It only triggered on my a1 when the pressure got to almost atmospheric pressure aka pretty much flat. When I called Audi about the issue they said "it's not a monitoring system"... And will only let you know when it's almost flat - stupid really.... I argued a lot that day lol
These systems seem to be rubbish at noticing slow punctures. Had one on my A1 and the TPMS never even detected it.
Think it's referred to as a puncture warning system in the brochure.
That was pretty much my argument, not useless, but definitely not very helpful lol.
The brochure and all material I've seen call it TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system)
Lol know the feeling
That's better I guess!Think it's called tyre pressure loss indicator now in the brochure which is probably a better description.
