Honeycomb grill

Hi guys, bit of advise please.

Having a bit of work done to my car next week, wheels refurbed, badges painted, grill surround painted too and a detail, but just been having a little browse on eBay and came across this:

AUDI A3 8P 2005-2008 BLACK HONEYCOMB DEBADGED SPORTS GRILL & BADGE HOLDER | eBay

Basically it's a honeycomb grill, but it hasn't got the line going across the grill to the badges like a lot of the other ones I've seen, and do quite like the look of it, however it says on the description, Not s3 or S-Line.

I always thought that apart from the s3 grill, they were all the same size on the 2005-2008 models ie standard/sport/S-Line?

I have a 2007 3 door S-Line and would just like to know whether you think it will fit?

Any help will be much appreciated as if it is, I'd like to purchase ASAP so it arrives in time for when I'm getting the work done, then I can have that painted instead.

yeah people on here have that grill. i hate the black filled spots at the top tho! but its still an improvement, but im not sure it it a bit expensive, normally about £50 i think?
 
Agree with JJ - the filled bits at the top are nasty! I'm going to be getting that same grill some point soon and will try and cut out the top blanks, as 3-400£ for OEM is just too much IMO, couldn't comment on the s-line fitment but I'm sure I've seen another eBay sale of the same thing quoting only for S fitment so maybe try and find that? I think that was circa 50 quid..
 
Mmm I know what you mean about them filled in bits, I was thinking about trying to get them cut out some how. The other grill which is cheaper is similar to this:

but I don't like the line that goes across! I'd be happy to pay the £90 even with them filled in bits, I just want to know if it will fit! Has nobody put an S-Line grill onto a sport or standard, or vice versa?

Check out this thread, I asked a similar question not long back - two of the lads on there have used them but I can't remember if they were S lines or not, might give you an idea though

Don't know if this will fit your S-line but it's a full mesh grille and has a removable plate filler if you need and a ring holder as we'll but I took all that off

Not the same grill mate , yours has the number plate support through the middle , where as the one shown above has nothing but removable parts :)
 
I'm outta GA in the US. And I could possibly do that for you if I ask a friend who is US mil he can prolly accept the package also from an APO or FPO address lol

That is really good lookin! Wonder if te eBay seller would make an exception and ship here with enough interest, I'd be up for one aswell Matt if we could get a few on board to make it worth their while perhaps?
 
Cool. I'm definitely in, as long as it fits an S LINE. front bumper.
Cant remember if S LINE is the same as standard, on a 8P2.
 
I have been searching for one of these myself for the S3.

Does anyone know if the s line and S3 are the same or are all the different models different?

Haha that is true! But gives a very nice matte black look with a smooth finish. Just did my door mirrors and looks great with the car
 
No MPG remained same :tumble:, yes comfort is sacrificed but it is alot firmer through corners now. #becauseRACECAR
 
Thanks, one last question. Going over humps, how's the smoothness? And grazing aswell?
 
Plasti dip is very expensive in the UK because of its low stock and import tax. Buy the dip from a company called CarDipUK. They make their own dip in house so they'll always have stock, much cheaper and the product is ****** great, better than plastidip I think because it's designed specifically for cars. Bought many off them and never had any issues.

All 8P2 A3 grilles are the same size. SE, Sport & Sline all fit each other :)

Wont fit your S3 mate. A3 grille are bigger than the S3 grilles.

FYI I've contacted that seller to question if he'd be willing to ship to the UK if we cover costs and how much that might be - I'll let you all know here if they come back to me.. If they don't I'll have to get a US friend to forward it to me haha!
 
Slightly off topic, but I've been looking at replacement grilles as well and noticed that the fit is usually for 2008 and earlier....can't find squat for my 2010 S-line. Really like that honeycomb look and euro plate that Jonathan has but no luck... New laws in Maryland will allow me to go tag less on the front if the car isn't set up to receive US plates. Any help?

Proper novice question, will this grill fit my 54 plate a3 2.0 TDI ? And just confirm mine is a 8P1 ?
