Vcds won't work bout Vag Com 409.1 does

Hi

Had Airbag light problem. Fed up of getting garage to clear it. So brought cheap cable and downloaded vcds. I made sure went for dumb cable one.

Any way it won't work. Windows 8 laptop and 03 a3. Says port fine can't connect. Tried on 3 and then on 1. Nearly gave up then found Vag com 409.1 download. So download that. It crashed at first so tried in X compatability mode. Worked straight away. Went on Airbag module and cleared fault.


Any way so point is why can't I get vcds working.

first port of call would be the cheap cable you have bought sometimes they work most of the time they don't, as far as I'm aware NHN sells the proper Ross tech cables.....the real thing is your best bet for problem free VCDS, IMO.

Any way so point is why can't I get vcds working.

VCDS requires a Ross-Tech Genuine dongle interface.

Our VCDS-Lite probably would work with your KKL wire. It is intended for KKL wires. It can be downloaded from our web site for free:

"If you are using Windows 8.1, VCDS-Lite should work fine once installed, but the installer may not run unless you run it in XP (or anything other than 8.1) compatibility mode. "
Try running VCDS lite in compatibility mode.

I used lite and software worked fine just wouldn't connect

Connection issues are usually driver/wire related. Contact your supplier of the wire who should have provided drivers for VCDS-Lite.

Why's it work with Vag Com though. I've cleared my Airbag fault with it
