Led rear bulbs?

Has anybody changed their rear bulbs to led?
Thinking about trying to change them but know how much of a pain the can-bus system is
aany ideas?

Yes, you need canbus error free ones.

I bought some LED ones from eBay for around £23

Basically a full unit replacement with a SMD chip card inside and resistors built it.

I've got the can-bus led number plate units. But want to change some of the bulbs on the rear light cluster.

out of interest what car is it and year?

ive just had some fitted to a 2009 A3 Sportback supplied by T8UPS including the interior pack. As my car was early 09 it had no issues with the lights at all and looks awesome.

will be doing a thank you thread for T8UPS soon with pics if it helps.

Hi mate, its a early 2009 1.6 se. Been looking on the bay, but I know the can-bus system is very sensitive.
Brought some led drls and they still trip the can-bus every now and then.

I would contact t8ups given the year mate.

He was really helpful, emailed guides to assist with some bits and even offered phone support. Top bloke and think the number plate lights alone were £7 all in.

a word of warning though, the number plate light screws are so soft I would change them if they come out. I googled it and loads have had issues even to the extent of drilling them out :-(

Thanks a lot mate, I lost a one of the number plate bulb housing because the screws are sh*t
think I'll just buy some bulbs and have a play lol

Did you change the screws mate? Mine keep switching off because the metal prongs are not in the right place so have to keep adjusting them! Screws seem like theyre going to be ruined sometime soon. Driving me crazy!

I did via the world of eBay.

if you google Audi number plate screw it will come up with loads of answers. I've gone for Alan key, marine grade screws to save future issues.

these are the ones i have on mine: AUDI A3 A4 S3 Q7 TT NUMBER PLATE LIGHT LED BULB 239 C5W | eBay

no issues in over a year and arent too bright so it wont light up the road behind you!

I dont mean the number plate bulbs .
If so post a link .
I have changed three normal lamps in last two weeks ,they dont seem to last long .

used these in my 2009 rear lights and not 1 error i did turn of cold lamp diagnosis via vcds though

Was wondering if anyone would post that! I upgraded my reverse bulb to LED and its one of the best things Ive done. I can actually see where I am going in reverse now! But when I first installed it, every time you would turn the ignition on it would pulse 5 times as the car ran its checks. So I done what Hollow done, and no more pulsing.
