My overdue progress/picture thread: Now with Sprint Blue S3 content

Nice 1 buddy... Reminds me of a time when mine looked like that ;)

Well done!!!!!!

Welcome to Sprint blue club! we will all have to get a secret handshake lol!

:lmfao:

Sounds good to me if we get free parts haha

Nice 1 buddy... Reminds me of a time when mine looked like that ;)

Cheers mate

Just noticed today that the car has been reading MPG using the american gallon, so i now feel slightly better now its doing 26mpg instead of 21.. No wonder the previous owner wanted to get rid of it because it was using so much fuel... :w00t: :lmfao:

How you enjoying it so far.... Whats the plans!?

How you enjoying it so far.... Whats the plans!?

Love it, not been far maybe 100 miles max, still running the tdi to work saving fuel and only really using the s3 for weekend atm until I can transfer my private number plate and then remove everything off the tdi to sell so mainly focused on that.

I'd like to put AP coilovers on the s3, maybe even h&r ultralows or if I can find a second hand air ride kit for cheap which is normally around £1500.

See what my fat fives look like on the s3, if I don't like them then possibly sell them on and buy something else.

I'd love a milltek turbo back non res or maybe a bcs system as everyone raves on about them, however being based down here it will probably be hard to get one.

Intake of some sort, possibly the MTC as it looks like a decent lower priced intake kit.

Find out what recirc valve is on there, possibly put on a rev D version as as far as I know people don't really upgrade to forge ones.

I'd like to take it to stage 2+ but for the min it's more than enough power to get used to. It's not exactly slow for someone that's 21.

Open to any more suggestions on mods too.

But in the mean time just swapping mods over from the tdi basically.

Yeah thats it man, just enjoy the ride with it... Take it as it comes and i'm sure it'll come along nicely... Plenty ideas on here as you know, its time to enjoy that wallet bursting modding... Be following anyway to see what you get up to... Stage 1 ahould be on the cards soon, you think its quick just now, turns it into a whole different animal... ;)

****** hell, that didn't take long!

Nice car, now get a Blue and Black them going. Black grille and wheels look mint on a Sprint Blue car. If you're on Instagram, check out joshuawilliams_, his old blue S3 on air was awesome.

When nice ones come up you can't mess about mate ha

I knew the blue and black theme would pop up, but I prefer the look of the chrome grille and have gone off the blue and black theme as everyone with a sprint blue seems to have done it. Yeah I've been following josh for a while, I did love the look of it even tho I'm not normally a blue and black person but it did look very good.

Nice mate, I'll be keeping an eye out for this one ;)

Theres not many around plymouth so I'm sure you won't miss me hah.

Well the cars been up to Audi for its service to keep up with the full Audi service history, where they told me that the headlight washers were faulty and needed two new units.

So i then went outside, ensured the lights were ON and they worked perfectly, just shows Audi isn't always the place that knows exactly what they are doing.

Whilst i was there i ordered an ashtray delete so I've actually got somewhere that i can put my phone without it sliding around everywhere on top of the ashtray causing a nuisance and i'll take great pleasure in telling them when i pick the part up that my headlight washers are fine when you know how to use them.

The A3 is being stripped of its parts ready to be sold this weekend, so ill be swapping bits and pieces over to the S3.

In the mean time heres some night time pics

Umm,

MY09 Lights
Audi numberplate lights
Sidelights
Swapping the audi iPod connection for my xcarlink one because the audi one is crap
Possibly the coilovers and fat fives

swapped my private plates over today and bent the pressed plates to pieces trying to get them off the tdi, so ordered new ones of those, better quality hydraulic pressed ones too so should be better than the ones i currently have.

Well every things off the A3, MY09's and sidelights swapped over to the s3, coilovers and fat fives are off, coilovers are in good shape tbh considering they've not been looked at since fitting.

To recap went from this which i

Looks horrid, shows what a drop and different wheels does to looks, will be greatly missed once sold though!

Bought some OEM numberplate lights and installed them

Done an ashtray delete so i now have somewhere to put my phone and everything else and also put in my xcarlink to replace the audi iPod connection so i now have control over the iPod from its screen instead of having to unplug it every time i want to change a playlist.

OEM+

And cleaned up my coilovers and put new copper grease on ready to be used once again. Slight bit of corrosion on the threads but there wasn't much copper grease on them when we put them on last time, can't complain over the quality of these, well done AP!

Looks good man, I'm confused about the ashtray thing mine never had one was it an option from factory or do they all have them at the start?

Non smoking pack deletes the ashtray in favour of the storage tray , And iirc cig lighter gets replaced power socket instead.

Basically this ^^ but you don't get a cig lighter, they just replace it with a springy flap.

You can see from the pics here: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-...elete-non-smoker-tray-retrofit-pic-heavy.html of just how useless it is to store stuff with an ashtray. You may as well put your phone on the roof, its bound to be just as wrecked once you've gone around a few corners and your phone smashes against the grab handles.

Looking good mate.

The ash tray delete is a must (unless you actively use the ash tray of course). I've done it in both my 8Ps and genuine parts from Stoke Audi are about £15 delivered and takes about 20 mins.

Ahhh right I wondered what the deal was with it. Yea mines not got a cig lighter just a daft flap.

Can the AP's go on the S3 or not?

I think the part was about £11, one LED number plate light costs more.

I don't see why not, when I emailed stillstatic about their h&r ultralows they use a3 kits on the s3, the AP's state they are for a 2.0tfsi just not a Quattro, the Quattro is only roughly 80kg heavier so it's only gonna be like having one person in the back at all times so I don't see what all the fuss is about tbh, the whole point in adjustable coilovers is you can adjust them, can always wind them up a bit if it's too low.

I'm on the lookout for some ultra lows before I decide to put the AP's on or not though.

Sounds ideal if they can go on, even if its due to different spring rates at least you could maybe get away with a new set of springs rather than a full kit if that is the case.

Looking good m8! You should of gone facelift thoughhh

and will the fat 5's go over the brakes :/ ?

on a quick side note...wheres the S3 keyring from?

got the fat fives still? cant find any and need someee

Yeah, I've got them, I'm not selling them though, took me over a year to find some!

thanks buddy, nah, I've never liked the facelift, they don't appeal to me, i'll never own a facelift 8p as i hate the DRL's on them.

Ive got no idea really, should do, as the fatfives are a lower offset than the standard wheels, and i have actually seen fatfives on an s3 but only once.

on a quick side note...wheres the S3 keyring from?

No idea mate, it came with the car when i bought it, its quite high quality so not sure if it actually came from audi or not.

Another OEM+ mod today, replaced the stupid useless card holder with a cupholder easy enough to do and finally have a decent cupholder instead of that useless one under the armrest.

Cup holder in..

Basically how i imagine it will look, maybe a little lower..

14092427574_0bce14441e_h.jpg

In a strange way I quite like it... Would need to see it from different angles...

I noticed you saying earlier about the Blue/Black theme (except mine is still half n half).. I know its been done to the core now, but I still like it as the chrome is too blingy for me still.... But in saying that... Can you imagine the RS6 grill mod done in chrome! That would look so sweet man and easy enough to do... Its just the £££'s that it costs for the parts! Would defo set it apart from the rest! I know by the looks my car gets ha...

On a different note... Cup holder and ash tray delete... Nice touches! Where and how much!? ;)

And on a slightly different note... What seats do you have in yours? I dont think youve posted a pic of the inside yet eh!? I'll scan back!

Can't say i'm a fan if i'm honest but hey long as your happy fella!!!

It's only a photoshop mate, it's how I'd like to think it will look though. Still adore the colour, especially in that photo, it's such an awesome blue.

See I like the fact that it's one of those that hasn't been blacked out, makes the styling just that little bit different to all the usual modifications. It's like the vag scene tends to be drop it on air and either rotiforms or bbs and that's it done. How boring, every car is the same. I like the chrome because most people get rid of it, however I wouldn't say it's OTT. I think the mirrors should be colour coded though, but then that's part of what makes an s3 that little bit different. I don't like the fact most people take out what makes an s3.. An s3. But then, modifying is difficult to please everyone.

Cup holder.. 20 odd quid on eBay and a bit of modification
Ashtray delete.. 11 quid from Audi and a spare half hour.

It's only the black and white leather, nothing hugely special but it's nice alongside the sprint blue.. With all the options and toys of course though haha

Step up to the S3! Loving the colour mmmmm. Think it would be nice on the fat fives! How you finding it compared to the TDI day to day? Did you get the cup holder and ashtray bit from audi? Cheers :)

I know what you mean mate, liking that the new RS4/RS6 have satin black mirrors. I always wanted a Sprint, prefacelift S3; ended up falling in love with the Brilliant black, got a Black edition and now I love how the mirrors are pretty much the only thing that stand out. To me that's something that a lot of people won't notice, and I kind of like that. But to those in the know it's the sign of Audi S.
Car looks good, and in a strange way I do like the Fat 5s on it too!

Yeah man... The mirrors are about 1 of the very few items that seperate the 'S' models for your standard A3s theres not a lot of other defining features to them.... I have seen what your saying and agree that Black mirrors look the berries on Blue/Black theme, however! I just couldnt bring myself to part with my brushed aly 1's quite yet!

Cheers, not finding it too bad tbh, obviously if you use the loud pedal all the time then it's going to cost a lot in fuel but instead of using a tank every two weeks it's now every week, it's obviously faster but doesn't feel it until the turbo really starts spooling hard and you realise your actually stuck in your seat. Power delivery is smoother, but tbh the tdi never felt a slouch as the PD lump is very punchy especially after being mapped. The tdi feels more rugged, like an old work boot where as the s3 feels like it's got finesse, almost girly to drive as everything's so light and easy to use. It's great fun though, especially when the exhaust pops which from a standard exhaust is pretty cool.

Cup holder was on eBay, and ashtray from Audi :)

See I was talking about colour code as in, sprint blue colour, however yes, if your doing blue/black combo they definitely need to be black. The other thing that makes an s3 stand out is the vertical chrome strips on the grille, so basically from a side on view it also gives it away as being an S3, but only to the trained eye of course.

S3's are subtle but deadly, just the way they should be, and the way that I feel mine shall remain.

Also toying with selling my AP coilovers, if anyone's interested pm me and I'll also put up an add later on.

Such lovely weather today the camera had to come out, updated pics now the MY09's are on and my new pressed plates too :)
