Hi there folks, i am new on this forum and would just like to share with all of you's that my S3 will arrive in September :wtf:just in time for the 64 plate. As you can all imagine its such a long wait for a car as i want it in time for July which i knew would be impossible as i wanted my own spec. Anyhow, tomorrow i will be popping into my local Audi garage which is Glasgow and pay my deposit on it so it gets underway. I have quite an expensive spec on it which includes pretty much everything that you need in a S3. I am only 20 and this will be my 3rd car :)! I haven't test drove it yet although i think i will tomorrow and get a real feel first before handing over my deposit just to make sure its the car i really want. Here are the options i went for:

Glacier White - Paint
Audi Parking System with Park Assist
Audi Side Assist
Black Styling Package
Comfort Package
Cruise control
Door Mirrors - Auto dimming, heated and folded
Inlays 3D design in black
Privacy Glass
Reversing Camera
Technology Pack
Apple Adapter for my phone

I am considering going for the Magnetic Ride but i really don't know if there is any point because the car handles great enough plus its a Quattro. So far impressed with everything and the dealer couldn't really give me a discount even though my mums Q7, Sisters A3 and my A1 was bought off him and now the S3.

Plans for the S3 as soon as i get it:

Stage 1 custom remap by EcoTune in Glasgow
Decat exhaust
Forge Blow Of Valve
Induction Kit
Alloys coated in a dark grey/black colour

My first car was a Seat ibiza Cupra 1.4 Tsi in blue which i really really loved but sadly it came to an end because i was driving to fast round a corner and the back end went out and hit into a lamppost, few weeks later went to Audi and got myself an A1 Black edition 1.4 Tsi and it has put a smile on me since i had it but i preferred the Cupra. Cheers for reading guys!!

No discount? You don't try hard enough!.

welcome and nice spec, am also suprised you couldn't wangle any discount didnt you have any other franchise dealers near by you could barter with?

I did ask for a discount but he never really indicated what discount was on it so i presumed there was a wee tiny bit. But he knows not to give me a discount because we have already bought 3 Audis from there. I am going to speak to the manager this time or i will say listen if i can't get 5% of discount then i will order from Edinbrugh audi. Then that will be sorted (hopefully)

Not sure if you have the twincharger A1 185 (which is a quick little thing anyway), but the S3 is in a totally different league. You will have fun on the test drive.

In respect of discount - do you have your A1 on Audi finance ? If so and you "renew" a finance agreement by getting another car on finance the dealer gets a fairly substantial rebate / bonus and can use this towards a discount or make the deal sweeter. If paying cash there may be less discount on the table in my experience. Mention that to him.....

5% should easily be achievable either way - think the sales guy is taking the mick if your family have had that many cars!

I have to ask. What's the insurance for a 20 year old with an S3?

I'm 28 myself and I was surprised it was as low as it was for me (but I do have NCD).

Yeah it was the 185 twin charger, on finance too which i got quoted at 575 a month… which is reasonable but i want a better discount. Tbh I've even tried on my cupra which they gave 500 quid off, A1 was 500 quid off so i just took it either way because i needed a car! This time I'm going to haggle the guy…

600 a month for me, on a 2 multi car policy with admiral with a claim. Don't know why its so cheap but hey, if its cheap then why not go for an S3! Prior getting the S3 i originally wanted C63 or M4 and the insurance would have been 2k! But running costs would have just put me right through the window. So nice and easy upgrade before i go into the muscle cars!

i don't really call that cheap that's £7,200 per year even for a multicar unless the other cars something like a lambo. i would suggest you shop around.
I also notice what you plan on doing to the car once you get it and this includes a remap. i take it your not bothered about the warranty on the vehicle then?

I tried that once...got a quote at Edinburgh then went to Glasgow. They're the same dealer so he just pulled my Edinburgh quote up and printed it off again. Impossible to get discount from them too which is why I've bought all my Audi's from down south!

Go to Drive the deal, you'll get at least 8% off that lot.

£600 a month insurance! Cheap?!!!! You're either loaded or don't have kids and a mortgage! It will cost me nearly half that a YEAR to insure the S3 when it arrives. Oh sorry, didn't spot you're only 20, so the answer is someone else is paying the bill... so fair play to you. I'm an old fart of 36 with a mortgage and kids BTW.

In terms of delivery, you don't have to wait that long. I finally ordered my S3 on 01/04/2014. Got week 19 build, delivery estimated for end May/early June. The dealer only needs to find an S3 on the order book that's not gone into build and is allocated to a dealer, not a customer. Then they spec-amend that order to your spec - hey presto, 10 week wait, tops. It just means the sales person having to do a bit more work... if you don't ask and all that...

Mag ride - pointless on UK roads.

Mods? Wouldn't go there with any of what you list, remap aside. Fine for some old clapped out seat cupra a boy racer plans to charge around town with, but on a brand new S3? Nah. Would just look chavtastically naff and ****** your warranty

I think he means £600 per year, although I can't be sure

£600 a MONTH for a 20 year old having recently crashed a car and wishing to drive a performance S3 sounds fair ... albeit HUGE £££'ss :)

£600 for a YEAR for same factors sounds rediculously cheap !

Building up the evidence:

There are lots of bits and pieces of this jigsaw that don't add up for me. I know a bloke with a TTRS who is 20-21 and his insurance is £3500 per annum, so how you get yours to be so cheap with a claim on your record begs the question are you insured in person (e.g. not just named driver on parent policy). At 40 odd with over nearly 15 years no claims, garaged car, low miles and leafy postcode I'm paying half what you're supposedly going to pay which doesn't seem a natural ratio.

Was thinking the same tbh!

Only 2k for a C63??

if you ran out of talent in a 1.4 cupra then your parents must be crazy to even let you consider a C63, get it wrong in one of those and it will bite you HARD!

Learn to walk before you run.

Fair play though an S3 at 20,but *** get some discount lol

Troll feeding perhaps...

There is something funny about this entire thread if you ask me.

Note he said £600 a month, not a year!

Sorry guys what I meant was that it was 600 a month on finance and 600 a year for insurance haha. Sorry when I wrote this I was busy in Audi trying to negotiate a deal which didn't really happen! Anyways got advance keyless go now which I have on the A1 so yeah... Deposit down and now ready to find a build slot.

Well I know it all seems funny but I can prove to youse once everything is done that insurance is 600 odds a year with a claim... I was 500 last year for the A1 lol! My pal is on 700 for his cupra and he's 19 so it doesn't surprise me... Had a guy who I knew and lived near me who was 9k on his C63 at 19 years old........ Crazy ****

Just to confirm that it's that price... That's why I ordered it as you can figure out... The remap is undetectable so it will not void the warranty on it! If it does go for a service then I will just ask the guy to take it off then put it back on if i don't trust it. My private plate will go on which will look cool as it's a 4 digit plate! 12 YY!

remaps are detectable even if they're taken off before service. think you might like to check up on the net before doing it.you can bet that if there was a problem during warranty period where the car needed engine/drivetrain work they would check everything also what about the extra insurance will probably add quite a bit to the price you've been quoted.....my question is do you really think its worth it on a brand new car ?

Perfect chance for me to jump in with a first post. I'm 22 and looking a getting a new S3 so got myself some insurance quotes... The cheapest I was quoted around 850 and that's with 3 years no claims. 584 is pretty awesome considering you have a claim. That multi car discount must be more significant than I thought...

Your car sounds likes it's going to be lovely. Get some pictures up on here and some driving vids once you get it.

Could also be location, I don't know how bad Fife is for insurance. That said, the other guy is in Glasgow, which I'd expect to be an expensive area!

Yeah I'm sure Fife would be cheaper than Glasgow. Wouldn't expect Fife to be that bad compared to a big city. Never know though!

Well I'm actually from motherwell which is outside Glasgow. My insurance for the A1 Black edition Tfsi around the same for an S3 thats why i went for it, Am i right in saying that if you have comprehensive insurance and your 21 or over, you can get insured on anyones car with permission at third party? Thats what a friend told me but i wasn't really sure and can't find anything online...
