Haha. You going to any local meets in the near future?

Yes mate, I try to go to the eastcoastdubs meet when it's on, otherwise when revert my lot do a night out or London run. Got stancism show coming up, aswell as trax, aitp etc

Pmed you back mate

Cheers mate you have PM.

Sweeeet :) Let me know when you next go and I'll tag along if thats alright. I will be going to FittedUK, AITP and Edition38 aswel :) Hows your A3 coming on anyway? Saw you pulling out your road the other day... looked very low.

Looks great bud, did you have to spacer those 3sdm wheels as I'm looking at a set for my a3

Thanks matey, I had to use 5mm spacers on the front as the drivers side rim was touching the coilover threads! Other than that the rears sit perfect 9.5j ET35.

Sweet, think I've decided then :) one more thing that anti roll bar you fitted is that a direct swap?

Go for it mate I love mine.. they look so much better in the flesh. As for the ARB.. yes it is a straight swap but the drop links will sit at an odd angle... like mine now! I will eventually get some spacers to straighten them up but I don't think its much of a big deal.

Make sure to get either TT MK1, Golf 4motion, S3, Ocatvia VRS, or a Leon cupra R Anti roll bar... they're all the type that go under the driveshaft.

Brilliant thanks a lot mate :) great help, good luck with rest rest of your build :) I'll be keeping an eye on it :)

Yeah course mate, no problem at all, as I said on facebook, a lot of my mates are dub people, so I'll introduce you to them too :) cheers, but that's not low, still got another inch I can drop on the front and probably another 2 inches on the rear, not the stance I'm going for though, it's perfect the way it is in my mind. Still got a hoard of parts sat in my shed ready to go on, come insurance renewal time next month :D I keep getting tempted to sell up and buy a b5 s4

Brilliant stuff :) haha that would be mad! My sump is about 2 inches off the floor as it is! Noooo keep the A3! You've put so much work into it you'd be mad to sell it now!

Haha, yeah, mine was lower, but parents live on fairview and the speed humps down there are ridiculous, so had to raise it. That's the exact reason the a3 is still here, as much as I want an s4, I can't bare to part with it, still toying with slapping a ko4 onto it.
Whilst it's on my mind, a few of us are going on a rolling road day, it's at tx autosport in Harlow, will let you know dates and times if your interested

Ah yes I know them monstrous speed bumps. Haha yeah I was devastated when I sold my blue one so had to get another lol! Ahh cool sounds good bud.. although my engine is bog standard haha.

Edit: If you got the bits / money to do it then K04 will be mental. You will have to take me for a ride lol

And this is the culprit (obviously) to my window problems. Still waiting on the new clips. Not too much of a bad job to be honest.

I would like to say thankyou to Prawn and A3Lee for offering to do my window clips for me, and also Greig300 for supplying me a pair of clips. However, I thought I should man up and get on with it so today I did it lol. Not hard at all and would recommend anyone who is thinking of paying ££ to get them fixed, to give it a go themselves. Set of four uprated metal clips cost me £9 delivered (2 from greig and 2 from eBay)

Door card off and connectors unclipped

All working!

Now onto the passenger side :)

Good work on the windows.. what does changing the clips actually do? Are the pink ones stronger and less likely to break?

Also your paintwork looks great! Have you done any work on that other than polish?

Cheers bud so relieved now I can drive through maccy d's drivethru, only joking.

All I've done is machine polish my bonnet, hand polished everything else with Autoglym SRP and sealed it with poorboys liquid nattys. Gets dirty in about 2 days though :( Is yours LZ9U aswel?

Haha windows are useful for that! :D

Oh okay, so you haven't flat and polished it or anything? Looks really glossy. I know the feeling about it getting dirty quickly, I wash it and by the next day some birds have shat on it and it's rained. :(

If that's the paint code, then I'm not sure! Haven't looked to see what mine is.

Look great mate keep up the good work! :D

Haha don't I know it! Missed those cheeky big macs. The SRP is slightly abrasive so I think it took a lot of the oxidisation away and then the poorboys wax is great. .. still beading today and did it around 4 weeks ago. Yeah im pretty sure yours is the same paint code as mine.

lol yeah.. mine just ends up with a coat of dust on it, or football prints from the kids on my street aghh!

Ah okay fair enough, I haven't gotten round to Polishing it with SRP yet.. just been claying and waxing with Kleenfreaks wax every month or two. Gonna get a buddy of mine to flat and polish mine when the weather gets nicer :)

What's next on the list of mods?

Ahh cool. By flat and polish do you mean sanding? I don't think its wise to sand a clearcoat. Definitely try the Super Resin Polish first or some meguiars ultimate compound as I've used it before and its just as good as the Autoglym stuff. Top it off with your Kleenfreaks wax and it'll be like a mirror!

Definitely worth investing in an electric polisher for big panels.. I only used a cheap DA from eBay and it worked a treat!

Well after I do the oil, filters and plugs im going to get yet another S2K air filter and the forge 007p copy as it never failed me in 10k miles on my previous A3. Then possibly a silicone TIP and a remap! Hopefully the little k03 will produce around 190bhp!

What about you bud? You got a progress thread yet?!

Yeah just wet sand it slightly to get rid of swirls and then polish it back, my mate is a car painter so I'll let him do it to avoid screwing it up! lol. Apparently its relatively safe to do. I've got both the Ultimate Compound and SRP, so yeah maybe I'll try that with a DA first. Which one did you buy?

Ah cool good stuff! Nah not got a thread yet.. Can't decide whether I should bother or not lol. Just fitted my shallow sump, and serviced while I was at it. Got a boost gauge to fit, and need to buy a TIP and Recirc valve like you ;)

Ahh cool must be some extremely fine grit! Yes definitely try the SRP its brilliant. . Even by hand its so good but totally ****** me after I did the whole car (apart from bonnet and roof lol). Not sure bud it was only about £30 came with a couple of pads and did the trick!

Definitely get a progress thread up mate its what its all about! Look at yours now from when you got it! I saw ur shallow sump on IG.. you can get serious lows now! Haha TIP recirc and s2k filter transforms the quiet factory engine into a smooth turbo whooshing thrill ride LOL... add a remap to that and its like a different car altogether.

You fitting boost guage yourself btw? You got access to a ramp or you just working on it from home?

Yeahh like 2000grit or more I think. Ha yeah I've had that arm ache too lol! Think I'll have to get one of those DA's if it will quicken the process and save my arms. Just worried about damaging the paint with it, because knowing me I'd probably manage it!

Ahh maybe I will then at some point - and stop filling up your thread with ****e! :D Yep, wasn't that much of a pain to fit but snapped a bolt and also broke a ball ended allen socket! All in all, successful lol. I think I've got some gearbox issues now though, got a funny whining noise yesterday on the M1 when off the accelerator :/ Hope it's not busted. So not spending any more on engine stuff for now until I know thats not a goner!

Yeah gonna fit the gauge myself - not hard I don't think. Just got to get a good seal on the piping connections. And no ramp, just a good 3 tonne jack and axle stands! ;)

Well when it comes to DA.. aslong as it is Dual Action and not Rotery then you will not damage your paintwork at all. A DA will spin in a random motion so it will not burn through your paint even if you held it on by accident. Ahh not gearbox! Haha maybe check the oil level.

Ah cool you can fit one in mine at one of the meets hahaa! Did you get the guage that goes into the drivers air vent or are you mounting it on the pillar/dash? Lol axle stands and a jack just like me... hardly fun times :(

Oh okay, may have to get a cheap one like yours and give it a go! Been meaning to get one for a while lol. Yeah I know.. But tbh it hasn't done it since that time, so I'm hoping it was just a random tiff ha.

Lol for the right price maybe! :p Nah got a pillar pod and attempted to cover it in alcantara leather (which doesn't look too bad), but its the wrong colour and doesn't match at all lol! Just need to find a moment to fit the thing, I've had it since christmas :/

My 'refurbished' starter motor was fitted at the local garage today... turned out it was completley faulty and would not disengage resulting in the worst wining you have ever heard. Long story short, I ended up with a brand new starter motor and a 2 year warranty! Cost me a fair bit as they had to undo all of there work, source the new part and then fit that!

Anway.. its in now. No more disgraceful squealing everytime I start her up!

I also received HID kit on the slow boat from China today, knew what to do as I had the same kit on my old A3, so popped that in straight away!

I went for a 5000k bulb this time, opposed to the 6000k last time as I found it a tad to blue.

All plugged in and mounted
20140514_190533.jpg

And the finished result :)
20140514_202438.jpg

Much better than the tea lights :p

I then proceeded to lower the front end around a further 20mm, also replacing a missing spigot ring!
IMG_20140514_084640.jpg

Not much clearance now, but surprisingly went down a street full of speed bumps and no scraping?! Baffled.

However... much more satisfying arch gap
IMG_20140514_092909.jpg

I've got some 225/35 tyres ready to stretch onto the 9.5J rears which I will be doing some time next week... then its rear adjusters out!

Also on the way is a Forge 007p, new vac hoses, reducer for s2k filter etc.

More updates to follow :D

Stuck the S2000 air filter on today using a reducer. Car feels unstrangled now and has a lovely induction noise. The OEM DV has gone faulty resulting in the classic chattering. Metal uprated one will be here tomorrow hopefully.

Engine bay looks filthy, I blame the flash :) This is the filter I had on my blue A3 (for around 1000 miles) and will be getting a new one shortly as its looking a bit grubby.

Little video of the new sound

Cars coming along nicely. Had new front tyres 225/35/18 and got some 225/40/18 to go on Monday to strettttchh over the 9.5J's.

Full service next week. Then I might get a decat before I take it to R-Tech.. Not sure though as the MOT issue.

Debadged the rear and spent 4 hours machine polishing the whole thing on Thursday:

I really want to go lower on the back but don't want the rims colliding with the arches as the wheels have about 10mm poke... Not sure what to do here :/

Got some stretched tyres fitted to the rear and removed adjuster rings for a bit more lows:

Also fitted a new s2k filter as the old one was.. Gross.
