So, as on my other thread, I have ordered a new S3 Sportback, currently Phantom Black ..

However, I am still in 2 minds, keep thinking Red, no Black, no Red, no Black .. and I think this is partly down to there not being a stand out colour in the range, let's face it, we have red, black, white, grey and silver of various descriptions, whether it's crystal or metallic or just a standard colour, oh and brown, really? :sadlike:

It's likely going to be September before I get my car, and quite a while before I have to lock down my exact specification.

What is the likelihood, of Audi releasing some more colours into the range? I know you can go for Audi exclusive, but I'm Scottish and begrudge paying £2K+ for a few tins of paint :p

Chances of Sprint Blue or Nogaro or Sepang (even Java Green?) becoming a colour option?

What do you think folks?

Phantom looks awesome IMHO . Get lots of positive comments and looks great with Alu roof bars and trim.

Somehow many not all other colours seem to look dated after a while.

A lot is personal choice but some colours do not look so good on S3.. Brown and silver are the two I couldn't live with.

I contemplated silver with black pack but that doesn't highlight the silver mirrors, another S3 feature.

I won't do white as it's now too common (would have been my first choice a few years ago), amalfi looks ok on small cars but I couldn't live with it on an S3, cream, nope.

Nothing to say about beluga brown except, again, really?

So that leaves monsoon grey (too dull), red (possible) and black (hard to keep) ..

I might still consider red, without black pack but get a local paint shop to plasti dip the chrome slats .. Well until I see another black/chrome picture and change my mind again lol ..

There will undoubtedly be some new colours added at some point. To be honest with 2 reds and 3 blacks I think Audi are being a bit short sighted with such a boring and limited colour palette. It needs a blue and how they got away with not having one is beyond me. Was the scuba blue available at launch?

Have had several Phantom Blacks now and it is a really forgiving black and not at all difficult to keep looking good

I would have had this colour. Loved the S3 in Phantom I saw yesterday at Salisbury Audi. However, unfortunately in my house although I choose the car, pay for it and clean it - Mrs Pulp decides the colour. That unfortunately was the price for getting my S3.

Amalfi it is again then......

Panther, 3 colours in one!

Any colour you like as long as it's (not) proper black! Nice colour though most of the time!

Have to tell dealer now if we don't want Phantom, have had Daytona and DS blue recently too ! Not so boring as to always have same old same old ..

A matt Orange S3 Saloon would look the ********!

I got a warning from a mod today for using bad language like ******** oufc!! We all know you mean 'round objects' and I'm not talking oranges ;-)

I'm ordered in panther at the moment but really having second thoughts... Black is so dull. Thinking maybe monsoon grey. Anyone seen panther in various lighting conditions?

Sepang blue is meant to be added as a new S3 colour

Sepang Blue is a definitely a standard choice of colour here in Australia, it replaced Estoril Blue, and now there rumours that Panther Black will be dropped and replaced by a different shade of black as well.

For me the stand out colour was Estoril, wasn't that bothered by the others, would have gone for one of the blacks I think.

Be good to see Sepang Blue make an appearance. Had that colour on my TTRS. Loved it. But wasn't prepared to cough up a couple of grand for the pleasure on my new S3! Solar Orange is another colour that shouts S3. Always been tempted to have it - maybe on the RS3 if I get one in a couple of years time...

So, we don't actually know if any more colours are going to be released, although it appears Sepang is the most likely ..

Looking at the other thread (Exclusive colours) I'd like Nogaro, Solar Orange and Imola Yellow to make an appearance on the £500 option list ... I'm pretty sure I'd be having Imola with the SS seats

Go for Red! I was in the same mind frame, I like my cars to be bright and somewhat stand out. 90% of Audi colours are dark, nothing really shouted out to me. So the obvious choice was red

Only downside to Red Audis is lacquer peel, which is a very common problem with them!

The colour choice that Audi are offering on the S3 is ****** poor at the moment and even more so that Estroil has been dropped.

Racing Mica and Nogaro are both really nice, sepang is starting to become a common colour now, loads of RS4s are in sepang and the RSQ3. which kind of takes the shine off it abit, still its a cracking colour but its not as exclusive as it used to be.

I just hope Audi pull their finger out and offer more colours for the RS3 without having to pay a silly amount of money!

I haven't heard of that one before but I won't keep the car anywhere near long enough for that to be an issue :hi:

Its quite common, seen it happen on fairly new cars! seems to be front and rear bumpers mainly.

Hopefully you will have no issues as it would be gutting for that to happen on a new car, but when i was looking for my S4 i know a few lads that had this problem with red on their B8's, Audi sorted some under warranty but its still a PITA.

Seems that some of the exclusive colours can suffer the same issues as well.

Not sure what the deal is with linking to other forums but heres a thread from this forum..

Solid Black can look a bit dull but Phantom and Panther both sparkle IMHO... I actually think Monsoon looks dull and it's a shame the sparkly Daytona Grey isn't an option on S3.

I believe it's Phantom Black, being replaced by Mythos Black?

Maybe I'm mistaken

I do hope they add Nogaro to the "normal" options list as I may be due a rebate if they do :) .... or more than likely my choice becomes ever more so popular and my build is locked and I'm £2k out of pocket - which is more likley knowing my luck

Panther isn't 'proper' Black IMHO , it has various different hues

We all know your views on black and your favourite shade of black.

Ad nauseam.

Yada Yada Yada.

Every single discussion about colours you trot out the same old rubbish.

Accept that there are other points of view that are perfectly valid, move on, stop trying to repeatedly justify to yourself and the rest of the world that your view of black is black and one black is better than the other. There's a good chap.
