I REALLY like the idea of having one of these as my next car, it is #1 on my list currently :icon_thumright:

Provided they don't go bonkers on the base price! Would be nice to be within £3k of A45 base to be 'competitive'. Although based on the last one I've a feeling I'll be sorely disappointed.

I'm hoping this will be available towards the end of next year, that will be perfect timing for my 2 year swap from my S3! I'm guessing it'll be at least £40k basic though so it's going to be tough competition to whether this wins my driveway or an A45...
I wouldn't be surprised if they use the same engine as in the s3 and what they used in the tt concept, seems strange to use the 5cylinder that's much thirstier, most likely worse co2 rating etc etc when the power can be matched using the 4 cylinder and the development is already done, Can't see massive numbers been made and sold so doubt it would be financially viable! But what do I know...
I'm the exact opposite, and pray they do go ahead with the five pot on this thing. The sound that engine makes is music to the ears. The 2.0L sounds like a vacuum cleaner in comparison.

The 8P RS3 was about £38k basic, plus more £££ for toys. I assume Audi will do some sort of dynamic package as with all other RS models.

I used to think £40k for a hot hatch was ridiculous, but I guess it's not bad for the ultimate all rounder.

It is if its not exceptional. It's only creative financing (e.g. bubble payment finance) that really make these things accessible at all for the average buyer.

Yep PCP's make cars like this easily affordable especially with Audi's holding their value so well. I have my own business but there's no way I'd put a chunk of that money into a depreciating asset like a car, better to pay my mortgage off or keep it in my business for future expansion.
Well said. People don't buy cars with cash unless they are heavily capitalised and fair play to them if they are. Chances are they didn't get all that cash from investing it in depreciating assets as you say.
If your house was going to be worth 50% less when you came to sell it you wouldn't buy it you'd rent it.

Exactly mate, although with house prices the way they are it looks like I've lost about £20k on it over the last few years! The joys of buying at the top of the market but who could foresee the way it was going to crash!
I'm just trying to buy the house I live in now. Its ****** lovely, closed street, great neighbors. The landlord is over like a shot if anything needs mending and he is a mix of Guy Martin and Fred Dibnah so things get done right.
Problem is he negotiates like ****ing Gordon Gekko so I've got a fight on my hands.
P.s. At least you'll have the equity and your cars nice too!

At the minute we're looking to buy another bigger house but it's a mindfield with being self employed and wanting to keep our existing house. Would've had plenty of equity had the housing market not crashed but now got next to none! I'm hoping we can get on one of these new buy schemes although even getting a mortgage these days is ****** hard work!
I've been saving a lot and living lean (As lean as you can with an S3 outside) so my LTV is good but having Yorkshire blood I wont pay too much!

It depends what you mean by "heavily capitalised". I bought my A3 with a redundancy payout. I have no debts apart from a mortgage, but I'm only paying 2.5% on that so paying the money off the mortgage and PCPing the car would cost me more due to the higher interest rate on PCP. I guess I could have PCP'd and invested the money with a hope to get more back over 3 years on the stock market, but that's a bit more of a gamble....
I hope you didn't pay cash for a brand new a3, a one owner car would of been so much cheaper and let someone else loose the VAT
I think they should wind up the fantastic supercharged V6 from the S4/5 and dump that in the new RS3.
Now that would re-write the rules if Audi wound it up to the mild tune of 425 ish that the tuners easily manage.

Err well, think about this. My last S3 was £31K with sat nav and all the usual trimmings I usually add. The S3 I have on order was £37k, with much the same spec. That's a SIX grand increase for the new S3 over the old one. So, look at the price of the last RS3 and do the math... I bet you're looking at close to £50k once you spec the car with a few toys! For that money, the RS3 makes no sense to me at all. Just get an S3, remap it. Job done. Or you could just leave it a year or so after launch and pick up a low mileage car for ten grand less than the new one...
