ASN's Pub

In the office is a whole lot better, unfortunately my office is full of blokes!!!

Westy I know what you mean about wage rage, my old place was the same, employing contractors earning HUGE daily rates and them knowing less than us and we end up training and guiding them!!

I'm in Brum and at the hotel.

Its very nice but the booking agent messed up and booked me for yesterday, rather than today.
Knobs!!

Don't talk to me about gardens.
We got about 90ft of garden and not a clue what to do with it.
Its been left to over grow for 6 months before we bought it and its in a bit of mess but fixable if you know what you're doing and we don't.
so might just pay someone to come in and do it for us.

I'm ignoring the one about wages. :)

hope you are all well.

That would be awesome Kwistof. Dont know if the other half would be to happy though.
Thats the only thing I miss having in the new house, is somewhere to work/wash/polish the motor.
Hopefully get the front paved and walled off this year, give us another couple of parking spaces.

So anybody else looking forward to a long weekend?? I know I am, fingers crossed for the Scottish weather to hold off.

I always look forward to the Easter weekend. Normally get both families together for a meal and a few beers. It also gives me a chance to catch up on sleep, and I love sleep.

I agree you can't beat a good sleep but if you're in bed sleeping for 10 hours that's like 2-4 hours you could be up doing something or going somewhere.

How's it a waste of your life when you need it to live plus it's enjoyable?!

I'm not talking about staying in bed all day, I'm talking about 10-8, a good solid 9+ hours of sleep :lazy:

Time is money...

More time sleeping means less time making money :)

Around 6 hours of sleep for me on average per night

Morning all btw

Time is only money if you get paid per hour. I wish I got paid an hourly rate.

Not just for your own job you are contracted for buddy.....think of the bigger picture

Money and opportunities are always arising in some part of the world 24 hours a day 7 days a week

Its all about money, its your own life as well.

I do about 6 hours and I'm happy with that.

up at 6-7am most mornings.
Saturday for example, I was up at 7, in the garage by 8am tidying it up. by 1300 it was clean, tidy and sorted out.
That left me the rest of the day to do bits to the car, garden and play with the dogs.

If I slept in till 10 or 11, I'd be done by 1600, then its food, clean my self and relax and then sleep. I've done half of what I could have done on a full day.

 short sleeps for the win!!

Hahaha.

How are you doing though Westy?
All good?
sorted your lawn out?

I'm alright mate thanks. Lawn needs some serious effort to sort it out properly. Need to cut it, rake it, lay some compost and grass seed, then keep it nice and watered. I'm hoping to have a go at it next weekend.

Getting the guttering, facias, and soffits done over the next 3 days. The guys start at 9am tomorrow.

You got any house jobs this Easter weekend?

Nice.

We need to get ours looked at.
Its fine and works but its starting to fade and looks old when compared to next doors and I broke the garage one lol.

Can't beat a nice soft lawn.

Get your lawn mower man on!!

We are faced with this

Might pay a gardener to do it. lol

Its like *** 60 minute makeover in here!

Im away for the easter break thank god, and ******** to DIY and gardening...all the guys get sucked into it, before you know it the break is over and you haven't had a rest!!

To throw a spanner in the works, I thought the last word you said was sheep!!! :sex:

Morning all!!

I dont get lie ins anymore, being faced with a 4 year old at 6am everyday doesnt give you much of an option to sleep in!!!

Scott, the garden looks nice mate, you should be able to manage that.

As it happens I was looking at lawn last night on the Wickes Website, they have Rolawn turf and the reviews on it are awesome!!

Rolawn Medallion Turf 1m2 Roll | Wickes.co.uk

We have borders on the side of the garden next to the fencing, but I am thinking of getting rid of it all and taking the lawn to the edges, so it creates some more space to play.

I think the biggest issue I will have is digging the existing trees/shrubs out and disposing of them and then laying the turf down and let it do its magic.

Scott, I just thought if you are in Brum you could have plastidipped my wheels for me :) as they are in need of a serious refurb, which was highlighted even more after they were cleaned on the weekend!!! LOL

Morning all,

Westy, yeah I've seen that and I'm thinking of doing it on the bit the bit you can't see. Behind the bottom of the picture is about another 6-10 foot of patio with some rough ground where the greenhouse was. Wanting to put it there cause its the last bit of a south facing garden that gets the sun.

Nilz, If I was in any state and had the time I would mate.

I think I've almost convince Sarah to let me build a 10x10 garage at the bottom but not sure on the access. Will it be by the lane at the bottom over someone elses drive or down the full length of the garden on the right. I also think 10x10 is a bit big, so might go 10x7. not sure yet.

2 days then off. same for everyone else?

Morning all...

No worries Scott, sounds like you got some good plans, the garage would fit in well there as well. How was your trip to Brum, did you enjoy it and see any of the 'sights' ;)

Im off after today and not back in till next week on Wednesday, I took an extra day either side, to make it a very long weekend break :)

Not sure what we are doing yet though, still deciding!!!

Loads of plans but lacking funds to do it all really.

With the wedding and Sarah wanting to go to Africa in 2015 all our funds are going in to that, so nothing left for the house or cars really.
I'm trying to convince her to spend it on the house but she's not having any of it at the moment.

How do I put it, Brum was not as stereotypical as I was lead to believe it would be.
It was ok, just like any other big city I think but with a surprisingly little traffic. There was a lot of cars but not congested as I expected.

Overall it was fine.

I'm shocked you're not seeing the folks and such mate. That seems to be the norm innit?

Some rough ideas what i'd like to do with the garden/garage.

Garage at the bottom with lane access but little triangle bit of land is owned by the house to the left. we got access rights to our garden but not sure if its for foot only or can include cars.
Garage

If we can't get the cars over it, then I want this massive driveway but with the stone/grass base so you still get some form of garden.

Garage2

Funds always seem to be an issue hey!!

LOL...we were the same and ended up spending on holidays, luxuries, cars etc and only when we did the kitchen did we discuss that we should have done it long ago when we had the money and no little one!! LOL

There is surprisingly less traffic on the roads at the mo, probably as its the school hols, so thats a bonus :)

Did you manage to get out and have a curry in the famous Balti Triangle??

Im sure we will see the family somewhere along the lines :)

Both plans look good, it maybe worth checking and seeing if any neighbours have what you want done, so at least it gives you an idea on whether its possible or not.

This is what the mrs and I are trying to do now. Been in the house 2 years this may and all that left is the kitchen which won't get done for a few years yet. Carpets will get replaced once kids grow up too. My brother Inlaw is constantly shampooing sick, poo, and wee out of his carpets due to the kids! Seems pointless getting new carpets now.

Think the pub should be renamed "home improvement"

LOL....its only a matter of time Jay!!

We have wooden flooring across the whole house except in the updstairs hallway and staircase.

Now that the little one is older now, we are thinking of doing the front room and downstairs hallway and leave the kitchen/diner wood and tile as its easier to clean.

Our last 3 houses has woodend/hard floors and I hated it.
I like walking around bare footed and can't do that on hardflooring.

This house is all carpet (apart from bathroom and toilet) and I love it.

The kids will spend several years in a bubble, so no to stain the floors.

I would love carpet all over and we may even end up doing that....we will see!!

I have always lived in fully carpeted houses and thats what we are used to.

Id love carpet again all around the house, only got it in hallway and stairs!! Bit weird me saying that beings as i work for Amtico who sell every type of flooring apart from carpet
