FreeBies On Collection Day?

With the S3 I got a teddy, a key ring, both iPod cables, boot liner, boot net.
Since then I have had a set of number plates and a new iPod cable free from the salesman.

With the wife's Q5 we got another bigger teddy, key ring, boot liner, roof bars.

Roof bars are standard spec on the Q5

Haven't got it in front of me, but if remember correctly the AMI cable pack was listed on my order amongst all the options and I paid forty-something quid for it - only noticed this later.

Anyone else thought they were getting the cables free but had actually paid for them?

Managed to get
Full tank of fuel
Umbrella
Audi branded Hard Drive which sits in the glovebox
Keyring - nice leather strap one (not one of the cheapo dealer ones)
Roof bars (as compensation for missing 12V socket in boot)
Roof box (not exactly free but very heavily discounted - again linked to the missing 12V socket!)
Luggage Net
It was quite interesting as I took my spec sheet and order sheet to check that everything was on the car that should have been. The 12V socket in the boot was one of those minor things that hacked me off. The rest of the luggage pack was there but, not the socket - salesman couldnt understand why so I put him on the spot and just asked what he was going to do about it. He thought a second and then turned the tables and asked me how they could resolve. Not being a shy bairn I just asked for a set of roof bars and a roof box which was on another car in the show room. His face was a picture. Whilst they threw the roof bars in for free he discounted the roof box. From memory it had some ridiculous price tag of like £350 so we agreed on £150 as it was the display model and not new and boxed.

How strange... why would they not give you the 12V socket in the boot?! I bet it would be easy to retrofit though.

I got:

- 2 tanks of fuel (one was compensation for the finance figures not quite matching the quote)
- Extra rear numberplate in euro style for towing (other numberplates all in euro style as well)
- 5 AMI cables
- The usual bottle of oil

I got myself the ashtray from ebay for fairly cheap anyway, and not bothered about keyrings anyway so can't complain too much about that!

Roof bars are standard spec on the Q5

Roof rails are, but the bars that sit on the rails aren't.
Also got a bag to carry them in.
Not even opened them up yet, so if anyone wants them, let me know.

If you had the Storage and Luggage pack are you sure there was no 12v socket in the luggage area. It's in a rather hidden place, in the bottom of the small netted area on the LH side of the luggage area, in my case under the bag holding the bottle of oil.

Audi baseball cap, 2 key rings (4 ring type), extra red iPod cable, Audi/s-line fleece jacket. No complaints from me as dealer has been excellent.

i have bought 3 new cars from the same dealer and they didn't give me a single thing, when i asked salesman said something about they dont give anything anymore

Good work. I got a slow puncture, 35 miles worth of fuel, an EPC fault, blow footwell bulb and a used tissue!!

and the new iphone 5 cable lol.

still love the car though!

Got the coin cup / ashtray delivered in the post today as a goodwill gesture due to the issues. Got to laugh as it should have been there in the first place!! Wolverhampton Audi centre of the year 2013!! lMAO

So how's the motor going? You chuffed to bits with it? I've another 4-6 weeks till mine arrives, to say it's dragging is an understatement!!

It's great Chris. Had three diesel A3's and an A5 before this and thought it was about time I ditched the oil burners. Good luck with the wait. At least you've got this Forum to keep you interested in the meantime.

Can't wait... I've come from VW and had a load of oil burners too, so the switch to the 1.4 COD will be blinding, I've only heard good things about that engine!!

With your experience then, this the best A3 you've been in?

Still have an 8P 170bhp diesel which has 90kmiles on it. The A5 Black Edition coupe that I traded in was a great motorway cruiser and a great looking car. Both vehicles have been great but the S3's exhaust note and performance make the journey to work an enjoyable experience every morning.

Nice one, you're a lucky boy!! I'll let you know when mine arrives :)

Picked my A3 up yesterday...

I got the usual oil, a key ring, and an iPhone5 cable that does not work and the salesman made out he was doing me the biggest favour in the world giving me that......... Oh .. And some free swirl marks !!

So I managed......a keyring.....

Oh well, he did manage to get my car 4 weeks early, so I'll take that as my free gift ;)

I didn't get much.

Aftercare kit (so a few seat wipes, alloy spray, that sort of thing) and a tiny key ring.

And they spelt my name wrong on the little plaque :)

So what's the little plaque then? Intrigued!! :)

Plaque is generous.

I just mean the little bit of paper mounted on a little stand that they have next to your car when you turn up. Says "Welcome to our VIP Guest Joe Bloggs... blah blah blah". Maybe not all dealers do it, this is my first new car so I'm not sure.

Anyway, my surname is "Stephenson" which they'd spelled "Spephenson"

:)

It seems like al lot of dealers do this now. When I collect mine both mine and the other car being collected on the same day had them. Perhaps it a new 'directive' from Audi UK:)

Genius!! Eh well, nice touch I guess :)

I just laughed because as he showed me he said "We like to make you feel a bit special when you pick your car up"

To which I replied "So special you spelled my name wrong?"

As a joke. i didn't really care. The car more than made up for it!

I've just been on the phone to my branch because my low oil light has come on, and as I didn't have a bottle of oil bundled on the day I got the car (I got a keyring. That. Was. It.), I'm now looking at buying oil for a car under 8 months old and feeling decidedly undervalued.

The bottle of oil is very much a dealer group thing. Some do, some don't.

Swansway Garage Group (Crewe, Stoke, Stafford Audi) put a bottle in with the zip up case
Listers Group (Worcester, Stratford, Covemtry etc. Audi) don't. Penny pinching :)

I got engine oil in a bag thingy in boot, keyring, wallet and blue cable. I asked them for an iphone 5 cable but they said you can have one or the other.

Ah to be fair they gave me a wire for my phone too.

Gave me an iphone one too even though I don't have an iphone :D

I take it if I've ordered through a broker my car will be sat out the back covered in dust and leaves.:sign_unfair:

No freebies at all.......

Don't worry - I'm sure you'll still get something. At least keyrings, AMI cable and possibly the bottle of top-up oil.

I've bough a few cars via brokers and always still had something thrown in. I've not experienced a dealer treating me any differently to any other customer. At the end of the day, there is a mutual benefit for Dealers and Customers for buying via a broker. Customer gets a great deal on their new car and the extra sale may assist the dealer in hitting their targets etc.

My wife picked up her car yesterday and got flowers and some wines and a hat or something. This is Newcastle down under.

Needless to say, she was happy

^ and this is the way things should be done.

Crewe Audi did the flowers and bottle of bubbly for my neighbour when he bought his humble A1 !!!

Just got my a3 saloon and got :

Audi sport teddy
Ami cable and audi valve cap's for the wheels
Not bad this was from Glasgow :)

I think any freebie is a lottery as previously advised I got the £170 boot liner, ashtray/cup, 2 x Keyrings (4ring type), green and red leads and a full tank of fuel.

I know plenty of people who have had nothing.

Also can boil down to private buyer or company car.

Is there a link to this Boot liner ? I cant seem to find it ? cheers

I got chocs and 1/4 tank - but on the up side they said they'd pay my first fuel receipt (up to £50)

Are the dealers throwing these things in without being prompted, or are folk having to be cheeky and ask for freebies?

I'll let you know tomorrow ;)

I asked for an extra chrome ashtray thing, green cable for iPhone 5 and boot liner. Not sure what it'll roll up with mind!!
