Buying 8L S3 from dubbers sports- any good?

Dubbers do seem to have a lot in, keep appearing on my list, bit put off by the fact there seems to be a lot of copy/paste from one advert to the next..
see there stuff online all the time no personal dealings with them though,
and if you're bothered about high milers, ?
if you are ever in leeds feel free to have a go in mine, near 130k orginal clutch and turbo and bog standard,
drives like a car with half the mileage. so gives you an idea what to expect when test driving another.

Quite a few people on over 200k on here.
A car with 80k could have more wrong with it than say 130k its more about the cars life and if certain things have been maintained correctly. Take someone mechanically minded with you for sure. My car had 80k on it and the first year it had a clutch,turbo oil stem seal guides numerous bushes. Faulty electric seat Etc etc. Wasnt a great start tbh but its getting there now. I got mine from a percormance car specialist in aldermaston. Wouldnt recommend them to anybody. Do your homework!!

1 other S3 that I have come across tbh dude with over 200,000 miles on the clock that is. I do need to have a hunt for others though as I don't think there's many! lol
The majority of 200k+ on the 1.8ts are A3s, and without going into too much of a debate they are the cheaper car to maintain in the long run.
Still- don't let high mileage put you off as long as if there's been regular servicing and maintenance on the car they can just keep going and going.....I'm aiming for 250k next and I don't see a huge amount in my way about from modifications! lol
They do tend to have a quick turn around on S3's. Once I sell my A3 8P in the next couple of months, I'm going to be buying an S3 so have been browsing PistonHeads, Autotrader, eBay etc and Dubbers always seem to have at least a couple of S3's.
As said, there does seem to be some copy and pasting within the descriptions but they all seem to have FSH and come with warranty and HPI check. Only real way to see what they're like with the miles is to go and test drive them.

I brought my s3 8l from dubbers . Pete is a nice bloke to deal with . Had a few problems with mine when I first got it off them . But hat's off to them they picked it up and fixed it .
What's the set up with them mate? Big place or just one bloke?
I just wondered as on all there adverts, it states, "full pdi inspection carried our by our dealer trained staff". Reason I ask is that there may be a strong possibility that my next car will come from them as they're not too far from me and have a good turnaround of S3's.

Small family run garage he is called Pete . All they deal with are sports audi's and vw's his mechanic is audi trained as far as I know . I had a problem with the car when I first brought it . The fuel relay went and the car was stuck outside mcfc . They picked it up . No questions asked it was a case of we will sort it and they did . They brought it back the day after washed and cleaned all fixed . I then had a brake issue and I couldn't wait for them and it had to go to my local garage and they fixed it and I told dubbers they offered me a free service ( Labour only ) I could bring the parts or they would supply them at cost . I never went back . But only because of the mileage and time . They seem very fair and honest . There are always things that can break on a 13 year old car .
I very nearly bought my s3 from them and just before I phoned them a friend ebay linked me in on the one I bought it was closer and cheaper and better and only 1 owner so was a no brainer for me but occasionally I still browse and see they get a decent variety of s3's in stock. Let us know how you get on if you test drive etc O.P

I got my s3 from dubbers in Huddersfield there was a choice of 3, a green and 2 red I got the green 1 fsh it was the first s3 I had looked at and drove wish I had looked about abit more first to know what they feel like to drive. But good service at the garage just usual wear and tear but nothing major needed doing to car. And the lights would not adjust. But then the turbo knackered 6months later they was not to know.

not wanting to hijack, but if you're gonna be looking in a few months for a s3. drop me a message as i might be selling mine then
History more important than mileage, I bought mine Sept 2009 with 162,000 miles and now 155,000 miles and a better car now than then, new clutch, Bilstien B8's, remap and B5 TIP transformed the car, serviced every 3 months on average and runs sweet as a nut, feels taught and sorted. Find a car that's been enthusiast owned and you get a good car that will be generally reliable and ring a grin to your face , find one owned by a knob and you'll pour money at it for the first year or two and resent it.

Agreed though enthusiast owned will probably save you a fortune in parts too...
Love your S3, fire me a PM through when you get round to selling it. Hopefully won't be out of me price bracket
4-5 years for me! Nearly finished though! lol......taught me a lesson - an expensive one as well
As Dave said above- what's the crack with the mileage - what's it currently on if you picked it up with 162k in Sept 2009!?

This one has now just come on, I'd avoid this one at all cost, This car if it is the same one, was up for sale about 3 week ago in Hull, I went to view this one and it turned out to be a right bodged motor.
The drivers door was faded, well that's what the owner at the time said, but upon inspection the rear quarter had been painted at some point in its life. The passenger side wing mirror has been sanded down and was out of shape. Front bumper/bonnet is not aligned and can be seen in pics. also front bumper has been painted and the paint was flaking off near the grill/lights area.
Also the owner said he had done the work on the car himself, but could not show proof of invoices for the parts he bought. The head on the car is an AEB head.
It is a top spec, has parking sensor, sunroof and even satnav and cruise control, but the satnav is an early type which only shows up on the DIS. Not the one that later models were fitted with the big screen.
overall i'd avoid, too many niggly bits and i rekon its been in a smash at some point in its life.

Original advert says he's fully qualified and works at a VAG garage, so he knows which bits go wrong and how to hide them ready for it to be sold then eh :lol:
this is true but they will have vagcom and could delete said codes etc. not saying they are/would.
but as i stated before ive never dealt with them. so dont wanna tarnish there reputation.
also them 2 imola s3's have different mileages ie the earlier forsale add. had higher miles then the other 1 be it there is less then 1k in it tho
TBH I wouldn't put it past a lot of people that do that but a short drive and rescan should bring any deleted persistant codes back.

When the missus went to get her first TT I drove it, lights came up on the dash almost immediatly, took it back they cleared the codes and it was ok until about 5 minutes down the road, then the lights came back on again, I was sat next to the guy at the time and saw what code it was, got it home, opened the bonnet, whoever had changed the air filter hadnt plugged the MAF back in again, plugged it in was ok for another day or two then it started moaning about the AWD system so it went back as it was trade, 7 days and all that..
Then I had to drive down to London to pick another ****** one up...

Hi I bought my 2001 s3 from dubbers huddersfield just over 12 months ago, he said cambelt and water pump had been replaced. Just had them replaced for peace of mind and found the belt very worn and the waterpump was the original audi one. What a lier, also 99% assured me he was gettin the service history, what a surprise it has never appeared. Total fibber, do not trust a word he says...
Same with mine.. Still waiting for my climate control panel to turn up.
They also need to replace my steering rack and sort a gearbox fault
