What is it with Scotland?

As a country we have many intelligent, level headed, sensible people, so hopefully the choice made will be the head one, rather than the heart one.
The time for independence was 40 years ago, not now.

Salmond is an embarrassment for the vast majority of Scotland - nothing more than a chest beating village idiot.
The sooner he disappears from politics the better.

we might let you in if your passports up to date

They will need more than a passport when we work a way out to make them float a little higher Into the north Sea lol

Rose tinted glasses...

Scotland has taken out more than its put in for years. Cameron gave you your referendum did he not?

Also its very much in the conservatives favour for Scotland to leave along with the vast share of the labour vote.

Its been made very clear you wont be using the pound. No EU membership = no Euro... a new currency will be worthless.. good luck!

Well for a PM who's better off without us,he's pretty desperate for us to stay.doesn't even have the bottle to argue the case.
Alex Salmond would wipe the floor with him.
I don't really believe this govt scaremongering stories in the slightest, had to laugh at Danny Alexanders reply to Cleggs total thrashing by Nigel Ferage this week.He seemed in total denial with his response.
That's why I don't trust any desperate attempts to try any throw up hurdles and negatives to throw Scotland.
YOU have had umpteen parties in power, and all have blamed the last for the state of the country.
We can't do any worse, and all to gain,.
Fantastic opportunity for Scotland,UK govt will try its best to make it hard, but in the long term will benefit us.
No pound,no debt! No lords,no private school boy blinkered policies,no taking on the world attitude and no throwing hard earned tax payers money away on everything but the UK taxpayer,
Thank you for watching,and goodnight!

Holly have you ever ventured south of the border or is it a painful thought lol

Youve spoken to the vast majority of Scotland? Wow you must be clocking the miles on your A3.
Your opinion, not the majority of Scotland.
Alex Salmond has taken the SNP to a land slide victory under his leadership.Tories and others completely crushed.

YOU ask a good question there. Also how dare YOU not choose the right political party to run the country. They have made so many mistakes all making Scotland worse off.....worse off than any other part of the UK. I feel very guilty also now.

Actually I have been in York ,many years ago on a training course for an international company, and ,this is straight up,the guy running the course was English and commented one evening that should Scotland ever decide to invade, they would be down around the Thames barrier before the English knew what was happening! Not sure what he ment .
Quite amusing then,as it is now,no offence intended!
Seriously if we don't grab the chance, well never know!
Just like Cameron dangling the EU vote, after the next election.......never happen.
PS loved York ,very quaint and spotless clean.

Scotland invading England....so who would get to use the submarines and good old Trident? Share?

Only joking - I'm thinking the politicians will be all over the TV in the next few months before September. Think we will all be sick of the issue by the time it comes to vote day.

You are aware that Scotland will take its share of the uk debt with it right? You cant run up a debt in a union and expect to just leave the rest with it.

Hes desperate for us to say yet doesn't want to argue the case... hmmm that doesn't make sense, cant be that desperate if he cant be bothered to argue the case and you definitely can do worse... 6 months before the referendum and you don't even know what currency your using, thats about as banana republic as you can get!

Whatever picture your painted across the border I honestly can see nothing desperate about anything a UK government has said, if anything they don't seem that bothered and tbh its hardly ever in the news.

You wont have the opportunity to have your cake and eat it as much as Salmond would like to think so.

Err I think its you who suggested its better for the Tories if we go.We won't have to take the debt with no £, but are willing to take our % share, mostly Westminsters doing anyway. All scaremongering tactics.
Cameron won't argue it because he doesn't stand a ghoster against Alex Salmond
I am not suggesting it would be easy, but the people of Scotland have the right to control our own.
Alex Salmond and the Scottish gov put Scotland first and have our best interests at heart, not a English public school boy who only chooses to visit when he fears he has something to loose.:end_of_discction:

Blimey, that escalated quickly!

After talking to my parents about this (who are English, retired in Scotland) they have said that there are a lot of residents who won't admit to wanting to vote no for fear of being lynched - but when at the ballot box may well vote no.

Anyway, whilst out on a short trip to Dundee today I clocked a new RS6, an RS4, two S3s and a nice mk6 golf R. (Oh and a 14 plate fiesta st).

Yes Will, this thread escalated very quickly. Glad you got to see some nice cars on your visit though. :) x

Well why continue trying to convince us Scots were better with him?
He did come to Aberdeen and gushed how much he loves and admires Scotland.
What a load of tosh.

I speak as I found, lovely place.
ON another note, I would encourage anyone to google Scotlands world achievements and discoveries throught history , it's quite amazing. We have some of the worlds finest in so many fields.

The worse thing is going to be if the vote is a close 'stay put'.
Nothing changes, but everyone on both sides of the border knows that a significant minority hate the current situation.
Most likely scenario unfortunately.

Years of unrest and turmoil IMO.

I thought we were not supposed to discuss Politics and Audi-Sport.net.

I always thought ASN was about cars and things related to cars not Politics.

Just remember In York were still legally allowed to shoot a scot with a bow and arrow off the bar walls. Is that why you said it's nice lol

Got the train up to Dundee yesterday to see my parents and within 2 miles off driving we've followed a 14 plate S3 in phantom, a new 14 plate Golf R in red and then another 14 plate A3 184Q.

We we haven't even been to Aberdeen yet!

only the second ever S3 I've seen on the road and I've never seen a golf R before.

Cannot help to see that this was very much a planned target discussion that had nothing to do with cars!

Have to admit ITGUY, you have hit nerves on all areas within the UK. We'll done. I suspect you actually live closer to Scotland than you let on and a very we'll hidden smokescreen has been put up.

With regards the argument on independence, as Holly has stated already, time to call in the builders, the wall shall be rebuilt and we shall rise again!
You boys from York should be glad, was not that long ago we used to take over on a weekend basis in your delightful city.

Hat off to IT chappy

If you read the whole thread properly you would have seen holly35 kicked things off....

Yes voters always seem to be the most vocal, most people I know are voting No including me.

There seems to be a lot of blind patriotism in effect rather than rational thinking.

Politics aside there are a lot of nice cars up around here, I lose count in the number of quick german cars spotted on my commute to Westhill and back everyday.

Im from dundee and should be gettin my s3 next week! :D

The fact you have trust in a buffoon makes a mockery of your political beliefs.
S3, not A3.

One of the worlds most beautiful and wealthiest countries .Among the top places to live, look forward to handling things our way soon.

Go Scotland I say. And take your banks and politicians with you when you leave.

Some people have clearly lost the skill of banter and humour.
isn't this audi sport net, not let's put the world to rights.
Close the thread before some people take it too far, simple sorted and then everyone can be friends again .

Back on topic (although I am interested in the political opinions here)

There always used to be a lot of Golf R32/R owners as well as Audi Quattro owners on the forums from Scotland. I always assumed it was because 4wd is useful given the terrain and climate up there?

The fact you have trust in a buffoon makes a mockery of your political beliefs.
S3, not A3.

So everyone who voted SNP, which is by far the largest party in Scotland by a huge % are all buffoons?
Alex Salmond speaks for our country which I feel represents the needs of Scotland far more than an English Tories ever will.
He has taken the SNP a very long way since the 70s
Talking of buffoons the current selection of back clapping boys club chappies are nearer the buffoon tag.
No wonder the chancellor changed his name.
Oh and an Audi is an Audi whether your in an a1 or an r8 , but I apologise you have an S3, ( back clap required along with hand shake and congratulations, you have now elevated your status above all A3 owners.well all pull over and let you past.

I live in a village not too far from Melton Mowbray and in my village there are 3 R8's a nice new white jaguar xkr, a Ferrari 458, too many bentleys and range rovers and Aston martins, also occasionally a yellow Lamborghini murcielago! No need to go to Scotland to see decent motors, just come closer to Nottingham. ;-)

They would easily with the lions share of the oil.

That'll see them good for 20 or 30 years until that dries up then...

You're confusing the EU with the Eurozone. You don't have to be an EU member to use the Euro (though it helps...).

Alex Salmond has taken the SNP to a land slide victory under his leadership.Tories and others completely crushed.

Yep, but that doesn't mean those people who voted for him or the SNP would also vote for independence.

Scotland is a great country (I'm going up there in 2 weeks!), and I do like the politics there for the most part, but I don't think they'll get independence (not according to most Scots I talk to), don't think independence would be a good idea, and don't think income from oil is a very sensible thing to rely on even if they do... IF they do though, and manage to make it work (unlikely on both counts), it would probably be the kind of place I would want to live.

Right everyone, lets drop the politics on this thread, lets all agree to disagree on our political views and get back to will's original post about the audi's he has seen on his visit to Dundee please. Thank you.
