What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Cleaned the MAF sensor with halfords contact cleaner. Wow instant difference!

Does this sensor benefit from being cleaned?

I'm interested in cleaning my MAF too, although it runs worse when unplugged, indicating that it works fine, I guess cleaning wouldn't do any harm!

How much was the halfrauds contact cleaner? How did you clean it?

On a side note, what I done to my B6 today was get to 48mpg! Ownership started at 38mpg! Next stop is 50! Hahaha how sad... 8)

Got really annoyed at LED's today, back cluster appears to be flickering which could either be the resistor or actual big led light thingy, either way ****** cash down the pan... did last a few years to be fair but still ARGH, full inspection will commence tomorrow with a most likely outcome of me smashing both clusters up the wall ;) . Front LED sidelights are also flickering and will be binned for the new set which came today. LED canbus indicators (from a very reputable seller on here... :ermm: not to name names) flash red at the back and didn't work for the front indicators (probably because of no resistor... which they shouldn't need as they're APPARENTLY canbus) so they'll probably be swapped soon too.

Replaced my ageing shocks with OEM spec Bilstein b4 shocks all round - still notice the bumps but a lot less at lower speeds, my 2.5tdi v6 lump feels so heavy compared to my bro-in-laws b7 1.9tdi 170bhp, really thought by changing the shocks would see a vast improvement but not so much :(

Removed the n/s door card in order to change the finger plate and window switch only to find the switch i had was wrong ( possibly rear door) still new one coming from TPS tomorrow along with 2 screws for my cruise stalk which is tomorrows little job.

Picked up these in a bad state for a song.. so spent the week for a DIY refurb.. LM reps 8.5"x 19" et35..

Looking good!

just gave them a good tug with a pair of pliers.. with a little heat from the heat gun first to soften the glue. and bolts were from

Dummy Bolts Torque Partz

ordered 42 (2 spare) with delivery came to £39.80 for me. so all good..

Fitted a new glovebox fresh from the scrappers £20 what a deal. Fixed my busted cup holder and swapped my gearknob over to a better condition one!

Today I removed my Glove Box, removed the broken handle and ordered a new one as well as the ambi light module for the over head console

Received my black roof bars from Wigandill so shall be swearing with the plastics from tomorrow onwards

Hi, do you have the part number for the ambi light? Looks an easy cheap mod

Started re-fitting all the chrome window trim I had painted gloss black (ball-ache level: 11!). Already managed to chip one of the rear quarter surrounds, repairable but still... :keule:

Not really done anything to it but did receive this..

Its OK but obviously not as good as the more expensive version, covers some stuff im wanting to do but doesnt cover removal of trim very well imo

I've been chasing a bad smell in the vent system for many months now. Started with the standard procedure of replacing the cabin filter and an aircon cleaner can. Great result for about half an hour and then it was back. Smelled like a combination of musty clothes, sour sweat and tramp's urine. Not good. Tried a few different chemicals which did nothing much.

Go forward a few months and I decide to get a plant mister and a toothbrush to clean down the side of the intake box that the cabin filter sits in. That actually seems to make a difference but then it's back to the same old smell a few days ago. It had crossed my mind that maybe I hadn't cleaned deep enough and that a repeat would be required. Went to it today and discovered that the tray actually comes out. This would allow me to see if anything was hiding and rotting.

Here's what went down...

Now, maybe that's not the sole culprit, but it can't be helping.

Not perfect but much cleaner than it was. A quick squirt of vent sanitiser and that was it for today. Let's see if it has any effect on the stench.

Had the 'repair' decals on my air-con unit for a few months now but wasn't never really happy with them, they've started to bubble aswell now,so managed to get hold of a replacement unit today from a breaker, very happy :)

Andy that's a cracking find! I'm jealous. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

£3-99. The MAF sensor is very easy to remove, plenty of clips on YouTube. I used up about a third of the can and left it in the sun to thoroughly dry for 20 minutes. The difference was obvious, picks up quicker and revs through without any hesitation. I'll probably start doing this once a month or so.

Sounds good! Off to halfords today for me :)

Popped over to TPS in Shrewsbury yesterday to collect an OEM Thermostat amongst a few other bits. Anyway the young chap told me that there is no gasket or 'O' ring between the egr valve and the inlet manifold! He may be correct but I think there is an 'O' ring as I've seen clips on YouTube. I'll go to my local motor factors in a bit and check.

Fairly certain there should be.

Cheers guys I'll get a new one sorted. Why don't folk who work in these places check if they are not sure? Does my head in!!

Tried to outrun a Scooby today. Was doing ok until he pulled a dangerous overtake whilst another car was oncoming! Had to brake, and brake HARD so he could pull in. Why do people need to try and go above and beyond safe? Once the car was passed the road was clear again so he could of got passed me safely anyway.
