RS3 grill Group Buy

Right place at the right time, unfortunately £700 from Audi is pretty much a p**s take so something half as good will definitely do (for now). That's a good idea too. The one I bought had an OEM grille pictures up which I thought was too good to be true, ended up being a copy even though said OEM but I can't be ***** with sending it back as it took 3 weeks to arrive and costs etc! Well mate if you ever want rid of it, give us a nudge ;)

I know ! It's mental how expensive they are. I will do mate.

I'll be attempting to add the protector back once I get some Parking sensor brackets. Didn't think about painting the bar at the time and don't like how the chrome bar is exposed. I took some daylight photos no filter

Did people leave the radiator padding in or out? I painted mine matt black but can't decide if it'll give a bit extra protection on the brittle grille?

I think its personal choice whether or not you fit the block or not. I did as I forgot to paint the crashbar........DOH!!! It looks good regardless if its fitted or not....both ways are good.

heres some pictures of a customers RS3 that had a aluminium front grill, changed now to a full gloss black with quattro badge.

Is that Quattro badge real ?

Oh my for the life of GOD that is so wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That grille looks OEM due to the honeycomb inside the audi badge is smaller compared to the ones sent by yourselves and aftermarket ones

yes customer has 2 rs3's and we swopped them around before he sold the other one, i just did fitting for him as he is a friend, insisted that he wanted the quattro badge fitting so did it for him, each to their own, if we all had the same taste we would be ****ed

I just went to have to wee and as I looked down saw that RS3 front bumper with badge I'm shocked still LOL!!!!

Who was it that had a vision while in the bog? Strap that was watching back to the future LOL!! :undwech:

Just like to say about the fantastic service from zee at xenonz uk rang him at 19.20 last night to order a grill as I missed the group buy and by 19.50 it was paid for, packaged and ready to be shipped with a tracking number by 19.50 on a Friday night!!! I was not expecting him to process it until Monday but what a brilliant service and top bloke!! Highly recommended!

Not got around to fitting mine to the A6 c6 yet.

Quick question, is it possible to use the chrome rings from an OE grill and fit it to this aftermarket grill? I'm not really liking the black rings.

They're slightly different as oem have one extra pin which inserts into the badge holder. Probably can cut then sand the pin down if you really wanna use the oem badge. I ruined some clips on my oem badge when removing from grille. Id recommend buying some after market rings off eBay or perhaps Zee can swap em for you at your postage expense?

Edit: you may not need to remove the pin as there is a pin insert hole in the lower centre of the badge holder as shown in the rs6 grille pic below. The tricky part is removing the oem badge without snapping the clips around the rings.

So I set out early this morning to go biking with some friends, rounded a corner doing about 45mph and there were two birds jumping up and down in the middle of the road, didn't slam my brakes on due to someone being behind and having a bike in the back and the little ******* mustve jumped about a foot in the air before I hit him, resulting small thud, looked in my rear view mirror and saw only one bird flying off... pulled over and sure enough there's a fist sized hole punched straight through my new grille :( gutted. (The bird was also still residing behind the grille dead so I took him out and hurled him into the field because **** him :()

That is well sh ite. I was just saying to my Mrs that if we hit a bird or something it will decimate the rs3 grill on ours and that was another reason for keeping the original. Gutted for you dude.

Oh man! Did you have the radiator protective padding on too for a bit of additional support?

Yeah the polystyrene is there but it was the lower left area below the padding where there is no support :(

I'm fairly sure i'll be able to use some superglue to get it looking almost perfect again due to the way its all snapped out, thankfully the two bits were still in with the bird so i've saved them and they seem to snap back in the right place. If it doesn't look 100% i'll just go back to the old grille I guess

Funny you say this SJ3 cos 2 pigeons dumb as they're did the same thing to me goin about 70km phr yesterday. Although I was driving my a3 with the much tougher mesh grille and no damage, just some
Pigeon dust. I find the group buy grilles much more flexible than the one I bought for my a3 which is solid, just doesn't look as good. Would feel your pain if it happened to me to.

Some of you may remember me mentioning about my Chinese aftermarket saga, well... After listening to a forum member and setting fleabay search for new grilles, one came on OEM yesterday and today I've collected it, no damage OEM! Perfect! Bargain too. Will be swapping with my current one if it doesn't look right I will be selling it ASAP. So I'm giving you the heads up... It's from the RS3 with allay pack so it'll match the wing mirrors.

Anyone missing the look for front s3 badge?

I'm going to attempt to heat and remove the rs3 pieces from the rs3 badge holder and replace it by sticking this s3 badge I found on eBAy. If anyone else feels like they're missing their front s3 badge on their grille could maybe consider this option to. I don't want to mess with my oem grille badge. I like how easy it is to remove the badge without having to take off the grille, but would easy for someone to rack if they knew.

I just used the exciting rs3 backing and pulled it away, wasn't hard at all and didn't need heating up then bought a rear s3 badge which is slightly bigger and stuck it on the rs3 backing. Sorted!

Assuming I've missed the boat on the GrpBuy, what price is a Black Surround RS3 with Chrome rings available at please? UK Delivery.

Thanks :icon_thumright:

Silver (OEM RS3) or black (aftermarket RS3)?

Both look tough man. Is that aluminium colour one an oem rs3 grille? I ask because the honeycombs in the rings are black, as for the xenon uk grills are all aluminium colour!

Aluminium one matches the wing mirrors though. But yeah both works imo

Yes mate the Ali one is OEM you can tell by a number of reasons. The thatched crosses inside the rings are smaller, pre drilled number plate holes and no pre drilled air intake holes. The aftermarket have quite big thatched inside the audi rings.

Had a bit of saga with the aftermarket one but came eventually from china. (Missed the deal on here as I'd already ordered mine elsewhere) then the OEM came up on fleabay soon after an I snapped it up quick. May sell the OEM one though depending on my choice

I was gonna buy the Ali one from xenon but the mesh inside rings weren't black so put me off and I just bought all gloss black

Nice now you got tangible choices hahaha. How much was the Ali oem one?

Yes I'm quite fussy too hence buying both. Just need to make a fricking choice. I'm sat on the drive just thinking and hoping something's going to make a decision haha

Not sure if I should say as I may be selling it soon on here, I probably will make a profit put it that way.

All good. If I were you id keep the oem cos it's more valuable and that's what I wanted originally. Plus if you have chrome/gunmetal wheels id keep it 101%.

All the best on your decision.

Here's how mine turned out, gloss blacked fog surrounds & lower splitter trim to match, matte blacked the crash bar.
