Bit of a dilema! Getting bored of the A3 after only having it since last July and still kind of regretting not getting a VW Golf Edition 30.

Trying to decide what to do in my head, as i dont really want to sell the A3 already make a loss and have to borrow more cash for the new motor!!

Love the noise of the V6 but i just dont seem to enjoy driving it and i dont know why!

Obviously the golf will also be better for MPG and tax etc. Any one ever drove both and have an opinion?

My car is a 3.2 A3 Sportback S line just incase that was asked

Is the A3 quattro? I had an ed 30 and it just couldn't put the power down effectively.

Yeah its a quattro aswell mate, Im just so limited as to what i can do with it, found a revo stage 2 330bhp Edition 30 for 7995 from a garage but i know they will offer pennies for mine even though i paid a decent amount for it last year.

Its only a 07 plate with 62k on the clock

Should of realised that are 3.2's are quattro, duh!

Mine was running 340bhp and it was wheel spinning in 3rd trying to overtake. Worse was pulling out, it would over power the ESP and just understeer horribly! It took a while to get used to waiting til the wheels were straight before nailing it - kind of spoiled the fun a bit for me! I guess the DSG box made it worse as it was nothing, then full beans!

Really dont know what to do, i love having an Audi and it is a comfortable drive and nice looking but theres just something which aint clicking with me and the car.

Hmmm just all depends on price really, Dont really fancy having to spend an additional 2/3k ontop of trading mine in. And then the other option is getting something a bit older which i really dont fancy which maybe more mileage!

I hate having options!

2.0T quattro == thinking/poor man's S3

I might just give up and stick with the 3.2 and learn to live with it! Might just even end up with a ****** Seat Leon Cupra at this rate!!

Under 8k for an edition 30 that's cheap is it not? I love the 3.2 I sold mine had a civic type r and bought back the 3.2 didn't realise how much I missed it till it was gone

Thats 1 thing im worried about dude, selling it then missing it!! But i just dont seem to be getting along with it!

Wish some one had the leon and ed30 for me to test drive in the same place and i could decide

Stage one 2.0 T would wipe the floor with a 3.2 ;-)

Edition 30 is a mega car though if you can't or don't want to spend s3 money. Serious fun more so because of the lack of Quattro

In a sound contest the 3.2 would wipe the floor with the 2.0t stage one

I didn't get my car for thinking its the fastest thing on the road, I've had faster cars and could get a faster car however 250bhp is not that slow

If it's speed you want tho sell the 3.2 go get a turbo car, mapp it intercooler it bigger turbo it go crazy then somebody will come along and say another car will wipe the floor with your car 😁😁

If your getting board of the car get a exhaust or some suspension or get in mapped play about with it see if it changes you mind,

you predicament was a bit like mine when the ED30 first came out i wanted a MK5 R32 for the 4wheel and the v6 but then i drove the ed30, and bought one as the turbo and tuning ability swayed it and i mapped it after 500miles from new in 2007, s3 I/C, Dbilas intake few other bits 310 i think it was fast as **** for me back then but not compared to some of the others now. would have liked quattro but didn't think the SB was out then?? got a ko3 now but nearly chopped it for another ed30 but got out voted, quattro is good maybe on a mapped car but on standard it feels like the cars dragging the rear behind it.

Read your post 'in a sound contest a 3.2 would wipe the floor with a 2.0t stage 1'

Well IMO the only reason to buy the 3.2 is the noise. Its the same as the R-32 in this respect, with the s3 beating both in every other category. If you cant stretch to an s3 a quattro 2.0T is a great alternative, and really the only viable option from what I can see. The ED-30 is a special car but front wheel drive...no thanks. Although some ED-30 owners would say some decent rubber on the front makes all the difference.

I still don't get it I'm saying the 3.2 sounds better and from what I read your post is about somebody gloating about beating a 3.2 with a mapped 2.0t ????

There was plenty reason to buy my 3.2
Quattro
Dsg
Great engine
Great sound
Audi quality
Sat nav
Bose sound
Leather
Heated seats
Factory tints
Cheap cash buy
The 3.2 has some soul
If I got a 2.0t would have got bored of motorway racing and lack of sound

Thanks for all the responses people!! Some interesting points made :)

I think i just need to show it some love, maybe sort out the uprated stereo to the RNS-E, get the wheels done and then consider saving for an exhaust, was told its pointless mapping the 3.2 as it wont really make that much difference!

Few niggly bits to sort out and i think i will start enjoying it again! I gave it a quick boot this morning on the way to work and yeah its not the quickest in the world but it sounds great when you do plant it! And the main reason i ended up with the Audi over a BMW i was looking at was for the quattro system! Sound like a right whinging tit

Saying it's not the quickest I had a play with a 14 plate focus st and was stuck to his bumper up to 130 before hitting traffic ( on a track ) which is Meant to be a great new fast hot hatch so the 3.2 is not that slow if you compare it to today's hot hatches

I think some times because a few lads i know have Astra VXR's pushing 350 upwards and a few Focus RS lads nearing the 400 i just want more power, but all of them prefer the sound of mind when its flat out. Atleast thats a bonus!! And my brother has a 220bhp Seat Ibiza Bocanegra which i think will push me a it but its all down to power to weight ratio.

Like i said show it some love over the next few months and ill probs want to keep it for as long as possible or until i get bored again

Please read ALL of what I said. None of these things are exclusive to the 3.2 except the noise, and I will admit probably the cheap price as well.

Id definatly go for ed30, tbh me personally heard nothing but bad things about the 3.2 a3s but i really like ed30 if i ever had to downgrade from the s3 id go for ed30 in red ;)

Had my 3.2 for just over 2 years now and never set a foot wrong, apart from usual wear and tear issues associated with a 70,000 mile car.
In fact to get through my MOT last month all I had to get done before the test was a cv boot.

Ive had to replace coil packs and thats it so far but i think they was due any way at 61,000 miles when they went, other than that ive had nothing *touch wood* Apart from a worry when they steering wheel light stayed on once but its never happened again
