Help please!

So just bought my S3, happy days! Or so i thought! Driven it in to work today, adn it starts making funny noises going round corners, more noticeable at low speed. Parted it up at work, finished work, starts making some serious whining noises when manoeuvering in the car park to come home.

Called in at a garage that i know on the way home, he puts it up in the ramp, and very obviously **** streeing fluid from somewhere. On closer inspection, he reckons its not one of the pipes but the ract itself! coming from higher than most of the low piping anyway.

So my question is how quick do these things fail, or would the guy i bought it off, on saturday known about it and with a top up, it would be fine?

I didnt hear anything on the test drive, or on the motorway drive home. I didnt get under the car when i bought it.

Fecked off!

looking at a hefty bill!!! any help would be great!!!

Power steering pipework failure is pretty common sorry to say...

Yeh had been doing a bit of reading, things is will the whole rack need replaced? Wasn't leaking from the lower front pipes. Can the pipes be bought separately from audi?

And how quick would a rack fail? Would the guy have known about it?!!!

Oh **** no !!!!!

That's why we got rid of the noggy for that reason Guy, Ingrams humped us for a complete rack instead if a few rubber seals !!!

If its any conciliation... at least it didn't happen in our way home !!!

There are a few S3's being broken in the classifieds too... you can only use an S3 or TT 225 rack (I think an LCR one too) as the std A3 racks are different

thanks Tuffty, know anything about Remy rack that eurocarparts have, seems a bit cheap! Would rather buy new, as an old second hand rack could do the same thing and fail just as quick!

I think they have not done it right... if you look at the desc it suggests its not for the cupra R
