What have you done today?

Fitted some new rear lights today, but I'm not totally sold on them yet - I like the modern taillight LED design but wanted a factory look.
What do you guys think?

Plastidipped the lower valance on the S4, i've seen the silver highlights on some of the newer Audis and wanted to try it.Uploadfromtaptalk1396108205848Uploadfromtaptalk1396108234435

Not sure i like the silver, would need to be a darker grey sort of color to look "right" i think.

Did some scrappy hunting today, went round three of the local ones. Been ages since i've been round a scrappy but there was a few things i needed. Really wanted to get to a fourth as i knew they had a black avant and i wanted to see if it had a good bonnet but ran out of time.

Picked up a new battery to starter harness for the wifes avant, to hopefully cure the volt drop issue. I checked last weekend and the alternators putting out a solid 14.4v, but the voltage at the battery drops down as low as 13.5v with everything turned on. Earth checked out ok, No change when adding a jump lead between the battery and engine block, so next step has to be the live. Noticed on ETKA that the TDI ones are larger, so instead of making up my own with thick cable i just picked up a TDI one from the scrappy.

I also picked up a new front panel/lock/radiator carrier for the track car. the bonnet lock is siezed on mine, and the one i have doesnt have the electric fan, so i got one with a fan and working lock.

I then raided a BMW E46 for its battery to bulkhead cable. Unforunately i couldnt find one with the actual battery terminal attached. Turns out these have an airbag explosive in them, and when the car gets crashed it blows the connection off, disconnecting the battery. but i found one that had been cut off fairly close to the battery for maximum length and pulled it out. So i'll use that to connect up the rear mounted battery in the track car.

My brothers just bought a wee fabia for his mother in law, so we were out looking for bits for that too. Managed to find a set of four 15" golf alloys and got them for £60 which he was pretty happy with. Also did a quick service on the fabia, oil and filters changed and threw a set of plugs in it.

I can get complete E30 325i one if thats any use to you Kev

Facelift S4, Trig brackets, custom hoses and 300mm discs.

Firstly you need wheels that will take the caliper behind mine are ET35 8J and have mm clearance (see pics in build thread stops the clutter then  )

ET45 is to high a offset you may need lower than ET38 it depends on the spokes and rim design a ET35 18" S8 avus for example will have more clearance due to the flat spokes and no dish compared to my boleros !!

All i can say is there gunna be awesome once i sort the pedal out as think it needs bleeding some more.

45 will fit, but wont allow the brakes to work. The et 42 boleros didn't work. I also tried an et 35 LM copy i have here and that would have needed spacing

I think I bled mine with the calipers loose so they could be moved around. Kev mentioned something about turning them upside down to release all the air and it just worked

Yeh they're a right ******* to bleed. Elsawin has some instructions for bleeding them on the bench before fitting them to the car.

I've tried various methods and never really come up with one satisfactory method that works perfectly every time. I always seem to need to go back over it a few times.

Right im going to try taking them off with hoses still attached and just have them hanging from the car with wind back tools in them to stop the pistons pushing out and try it that way !!

not done much changed the rear calipers discs pads and wheel bearings....
and slowly making a list of things i want to upgrade or retro fit to the old girl..

got bored so started cleaning.. washed the carpet and seats got rid of some marks and cleaned and polished the boot shut and both drivers side doors

Hi all, so I went about spraying one of my wheels today, I think they tie In quite nicely with the colour of the derv. However, because they are not splits (fakes) I struggled to get a perfect line to split the black to the chrome paint. Does any one have any ideas that I can use for the other 3?

Have you tried some fine line tape the stuff designed for painting pinstripes

No not tried that actually, tries with thin masking tape and that didn't work

Have you tried bleeding the brakes with the car running, I've had to do this a few times and seems to help

Well ive just jacked the car up, got the misses to give us a few pumps of the brake pedal (she dint do to bad to be fair lol) got my brake fluid topped up and bleed the rears twice each giving them 3 cracks each time in to my fluid catcher and when i initially cracked the O/S caliper i could here the fluid spitting in to the bottle through the vac pipe went after the second opening. Finished it off took it for a quick spin and its fixed no more **** pedal :) that was just to easy lol

It still has about half inch of travel before bite but think thats free play in the pedal or something ??

Ahh ok it was like that before i fitted them, personally id like it to bite as soon as i touch the pedal but i doubt on a car this old thats going to happen lol
