Feel a bit sick. Just had a call to say I can pick it up Monday. Then they rang back and said it had been built as a manual even though I ordered an S Tronic. Then they said I'd have the same wait all over again to build a new one.

Negotiate to collect it, have them re-order the correct car, and drive around in the provided car in the meantime !

Damn - that's not good but you'd be in a good position to negotiate a good discount, if you were interested...

It that case it should be in the UK within 24 hours. There is a least one ship a day coming in to Grimsby. Hopefully my b/w12 car will be on one very soon as well.

That Sucks.

It is unusual, but not unknown, for a car to be incorrectly built.

Normally, the fault lies with the dealer placing the order.

Did your dealer send you the order sheet for you to inspect/sign, this lists the exact spec the car should be built to, including options?

The way the cars are ordered today the dealer enters the order directly into the Audi computer system. At a guess who ever entered the order at the dealers forgot to specify s-tronic. Ask to see a copy the original order "Vehicle Detail" sheet. From that the Vehicle Detail Model Code will indicate the exact model ordered and the Model Description will give the details. For instance on the sheet I was given it says: Audi A3 Sportback Sport 2.0 TDI quattro 184 PS S tronic. If it say s-tronic on there then the mistake is with Audi AG, if it doesn't it's with the dealer.

Thanks for all your replies and advice. I definitely don't want it & the dealer knows. I haven't got the order form in front of me, however the dealer said s tronic is on it so he doesn't understand why it's happened. I asked would they add options to the new order to compensate & he said yes, but I wouldn't know what price limit to go to as I don't want them just laughing when I ask for all kinds of options.

Never heard of....we've got your order wrong sir and added things you didn't specify!!!

Gutted for you mate.

Ask for an S3

Mine was built on week 11. Tomorow finally will be in my home. Just one day more! :)

I know. Can't believe it, just a nightmare after waiting for it to find out it's not even any good to me.

Haha, any suggestions on what price limit you's would put on asking for extras? Leather seats or 7" MMI (is over a grand reasonable?), bearing in mind I ordered an SE Sportback already adding Privacy Glass, 17" alloys, Reverse Camera with Parking Plus, Aluminium Window Trims.

I had a similar thing happen back in 1998. I had a Golf VR6 and ordered another one from the very last batch that VW were going to make. The VR6 came as standard with a metal sliding sunroof which took away some of the head room and made it too tight for me but you could order it, which I did, with the sunroof deleted. When it arrived it had a sunroof! I did try it but it much too tight and they was now way I could order another one as they had stopped making them. No doubt the dealer had no trouble finding another customer for it.

I was gutted at the time but the good thing that came out of it was I called in to an Audi dealer and test drove my very first A3. I had seen one in Germany shortly after they were first released and liked it then. So I ordered a new A3 1.8T Sport. The one I have on order now will be my 9th so in some ways the dark cloud had a silver lining. Perhaps that's why all my A3s have been Silver :)

You didn't order the Xenon Pack? Have you seen the car without Xenons? Hard to tell it's not an old A3.

And the Xenon Pack includes interior light pack, light/rain pack and adaptive cornering lights. We also added Aluminium interior elements on our SE.

Start high and negotiate!

I agree. The Xenon Light Package (WB6 - £1,250) would be well worth going for. Did you get any discount on the original car?

Thanks for the advice... The xenon lights do definitely change the look of the car, I'll have to see what happens anyway... And no didn't really get much discount in the first place.

Dealer called this morning, Code 39 !!!!!. <taps foot>

Quick question re finance/PCP

Have any of you doing finance or PCP had to go in ahead of handover day, to sign finance paperwork? Dealer suggested that changed to FSA rules meant that you have to go "in good time" ahead of handover, to sign agreement etc.

I sincerely hope that I will not have to sign any more paper work as I have been through a mountain's worth already! We will see but nothing suprises me any more. Next time I will deal directly with Audi and not a third party but this has been my first PCP purchase and did not really know what to expect.

I collect my baby on Tuesday and will upload some pics and briefly describe my experience. Made sure I am collecting > 12 noon given the date hehe!

Arragh this is killing me. My car is definitely on the boat, pretty sure it's the AFRICAN HIGHWAY.

It was supposed to dock this morning at 0145, however it's shown sitting outside Grimsby since that time, I'm guessing there is no where for it to go !!!!!

Don't worry, it has docked at the new Grimsby River Terminal because it's too big to get through the lock into the inner docks. The map that is used by the Marine Traffic website has not yet been updated to show the new terminal. So if African Highway arrived at 0145 this morning you car would almost certainly have been unloaded by now.

If you have a look at the photo in post #87 you can see the position of the new River Terminal in relation to the main Grimsby harbour and that is exactly where African Highway is sitting at the moment.

Not long now!!!

I have no idea if mines on a boat or made it across the channel yet or even which port it's bound for...

If you have your 8 digit order number, you can ring Audi CS to find out!

Even if you don't have the order number, they can trace it for you with name, model ordered, and which dealer you ordered it from.

but if it's BW12, it's most likely sitting at Emden.

I've got the order number but I'm trying to resist pestering Audi CS :sadlike:

Well only another 119 hrs and 15 mins to collection, Must get a countdown clock!!!!!!!!!!

Well only another 119 hrs and 15 mins to collection, Must get a countdown clock!!!!!!!!!!

I have received fomal notice from my dealer that my car will be ready for collection on Thursday of next week at 10:00hrs, they contacted me by telephone and I welcomed the news warmly. My patience has been rewarded with such news, and I now see the error of my previous ways in continually chasing and seeking hope from the many gods before me.

I wait in joyjul peace and tranquility until I can cast my eyes onto my beautiful machine. :kissmyrings:

Where is your dealer based. If it's in the South or South West it will probably come in at Sheerness. If there in the North or Scotland it will be Tyne. Everywhere else will be Grimsby. They don't come 'across the channel' they go from Ingolstadt by train to Emden in Northern Germany and then across the North Sea. Usually takes about each ship around 24 hours.

Believe mine is on African Highway. Shipped yesterday apparently.

African Highway is currently docked at the new Grimsby River Terminal. It's been there since 01:45 this morning so you car is probably in the UK by now. What build week was you car?

It was BW 11, left the factory on the 13/14th, arrived Emden on the 19th. Dealer in the Midlands.

For those who are interested... I spoke to the manager about my S Tronic A3 that arrived as a manual. He was very surprised and apologetic, the salesman hadn't even told him about it. Anyway he has said that he will get back Monday as he is trying to arrange a new order that will hopefully be quicker than normal (however also advising that the wait on an A3 has now jumped to 5 months). He also thinks that around £400 compensation is the best they can do in this case.

Are they going to lend you a car in the meantime?

To be honest I haven't discussed that with them yet, its done my head in that much I'm not even sure whether to order with them again, if they can get a new one built within about 8 weeks I think that's the only thing that will make me happy. Just gutted about the whole thing, I was supposed to be picking it up Monday.
