Anyone done a revo stage 1 ? If yes did you feel a big difference in the performances ? Booked for in 3 weeks time, just cant wait ! Ha!

Cheers mate that post it has answered a few of my questions, but wouldv liked to see someone impressions about that revo on s3 once theyve done it.

Revo are quite aggressive and results vary wildy these days as our cars are old and engines/turbos vary in condition....

Revo stg1 code is good and adjustable but is not as suited to the condition of our cars and the level and type of mods available these days..

If you don't hurt your face after the first few days after getting any stage 1 remap, then I'm afraid your car is broke or the map is crap.

Revo are one of/if not the top 'off the shelf' generic maps for the 1.8t, so you are in safe hands with them.

As long as you are going to a dealer with decent reputation then you have nothing to worry about, and make sure you have plenty of funds for V power for the next few days/weeks/months :arco:

It's going to be very similar to my stage 1 apr map, and its ace! It's switchable, so I can go 210 pap or max, 99.9% max just incase ;)

fair point BUT your a BIT closer than the guys in Hong Kong whose cars Rick has recently done over the Internet !! pmsl

Lucky you can beat sunny soton lol

Portswood/lordswood so pretty close by so if you want any info just let me know I also have VCDS if you want a scan etc at somepoint :)

Mine was stage 1 revo`d at JKM a couple of years ago (now stage 2) and at the time I was very happy with the results but if I was to do it again as it did cost over £300 I would take the time to goto a proper specialist like Badger 5 or R-tech as for the same sort of money you will get better results. The distance can be off putting but I am gonna get my car up to Badger 5 this year for some custom stage 2 software :)

We have a couple more local S3`rs and one of them was just stage 1 mapped by Bill at B5 and hes over the moon with the results.

Pahaha ! how is that possible ? Am new to all this !

Basically put it this way to JKM our cars are old hat as even the next model 8P has now been discontinued. So as a Revo dealer yes they do support our cars but its just a generic bit of software that they flash to your ECU make sure your car runs ok and take your money and send you on your way. They don't even rolling road test the car they just take it for a spin around the estate.

whereas people like Badger 5 or R-tech are still very much involved with the progression of the 8L 1.8T lump and are still finding improvements that were thought to be impossible a few years ago. Eg the 80mm turbo intake pipe badger 5 created as this can see upto 15BHP on its own and then map it to suit unlike Revo which is just generic software and has no idea if the recent developments made.

The local lad (Nick) who just got his standard 2003 S3 stage 1 mapped by B5 now has 5 selectable maps which give him 60%-70%-80%-90%-100% power depending on what you want at the time and his mate who was running stage 1 revo on his car said that this car now feels so much faster than his did as his revo only had power above 5k whereas the B5 map has progressive power throughout the revs.

Here is a link to Nicks thread on his car http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/201871-n-jack-bam-progress-thread.html

Cant beat sunny totton ?! Lol... Well i come from south of france so doesnt really feel that hot here to me tbh lol..mooved to england 2 years ago. Oh really ? Where are badger 5 or r-tech based ? I mean i really like the aggressiv way that your cars turns into with that revo. Well all that is very interesting... Looks like i have a lot to learn ! How much would i be looking at for that turbo intake pipe fitted ? Well my mate was the opposite you could feel a proper kick in lower rev thats what i was loving really. Okay am gonna have a lil look on that thread ;)

South of france to Soton (short for Southampton) that's not an upgrade lol!

Have you done any upgrades to your car already or is it completely standard? have you been in a revo`d S3?

This is the complete B5 80mm TIP kit including Jetex filter and heatshield 80mm V2.2 Billet Badger5 K04 Induction Kit-LCR/S3/TT (1.8t) With Hose Clips | eBay

You can buy just the TIP if you already run a cone filter V2.2 BADGER 5 SILICONE 80mm K04 TIP S3 / TT / LEON CUPRA R (with clips) | eBay or a cheaper all silicone type V3 BADGER 5 SILICONE 80mm K04 TIP S3 / TT / LEON CUPRA R (with clips) | eBay

Badger 5 website ThrottleBodies.com - Performance Induction Systems

R-Tech website ECU Remapping, Performance Engine Tuning, R-tech

They are both about a 2.5 hour drive from Southampton

Doesnt feel like it it ! Lol. No its completely standard. Ive been in my mates a3 1.8 T revo'd and feelt faster than my father's audi tt 225bhp ! I couldnt believe it. Provably the fact ov 2wd vs 4wd that made it feel quicker aswell. Okay thanks a lot for them links ;) do you rekon its worth the trip then ?

yeah I would guess it would feel quicker in a mapped fwd 1.8t than a standard 225 TT. as if it was a 180bhp A3 it will remap near the 210BHP so the cars would have similar power but the TT would be a lot heavier and yes loose some power due to Quattro.

I have not done the trip myself but am hoping to maybe over easter as I have just made my car stage 2 (with all the little tweaks I wanted to do) and its now running well so it deserves some proper software as the stage 2 revo I have isn't making the most of my mods.

The guy in the thread did it and said its defo worth the trip and it can be done in a day if you leave early.

do you rekon its worth the trip then ?

I travelled from CT18 (Folkestone) to Bills and I wouldn't change my stage 1 map for anything. e.g Revo.

Was well worth the trip and to meet the man himself as well as Paul/Tuffty.....they didn't even get bored with all my totally amateur questions I kept throwing at them! lol.

So not only did I drive away from Bills with an amazing map but I actually learnt some things as well :)

To date (1.5 years now) I am very happy with the map I have on- it's not totally custom but it more than helps me keep up with my mates in there 300 odd bhp cars with their generic punchy maps :D

Bonjour! Another S3 in Southampton! Were growing enough to maybe have a meet!

I would personally go up-to bills for a stage 1 custom and avoid the generic Revo stage 1. I went with Nick and Bill transformed his car. I will be going up there for my custom stage 2 once i have finished my engine. Its well worth the trip.

Okay well thanks guys ;) it sounds like i have to go there then ! I will ring them tomorow and see if they have any space for me to do it soon ! Vrbob how much am i looking at to get a stage 2 ? And what parts would be needed ? Sorry if am all stressin u out with my questions btw ! But i have to start somewhere ! Lol..

Thats sounds good kwistoff ! Id love to smash my mates m3 but doubt thats gonna be possible, i wanna start saving for that lush rs3 !

Hi adam ! Well if anyone organises a meet then am deffo up for it ! And another one that tells me to go and see that good old bill lol. Do you know how much your mate paid for his ? As at JMK theres asking me for £420.

And is that bill with badger 5 or r-tech ?

Its defo less than £420 for stage 1 tune at Badger 5 and you willalso get a proper smoke test (to see if it has any boost leaks) and a good rolling road session (neither of these you will get at JKM!)

I think its about £300 for a badger 5 stage 1 tune (but best bet is to confirm this with the man himself) so for the money saved it can pay for fuel and snacks lol.

Stage 2 main bits needed are : 80mm TIP and filter, Front mounted intercooler, 3" downpipe and sports cat. But be warned this soon adds up as once past 250bhp you will find the brakes on these cars not really good enough and need to upgrade those too.

If you check out this thread http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/119353-w3stys-progress-thread.html you can see Westy got his to the very top end of stage 2 and what it took to do it

Bill = Badger 5 (Badger Bill and his Badger Wagon)

I would go to Badger 5 over JKM any day, i have been to both. You can't even get near you car at jkm when its in the workshop.
Now an important question....... what colour is your s3? :sign_pics:

Right so if i understood right i have to go to bill at badger 5 and ask him for a badger 5 stage 1 map custom yea ? Bit lost in my english when it comes to technical terms lol...

Its black adam why is that important ?

Just seen on there website that they've just turned into a revo dealer ?

Yeah, just drop him an email or call the workshop mate. When we went up me and nick both bought 80mm TIPs (turbo inlet pipes) from Bill which i would say is a good purchase in preparation for stage 1 remap and Nicks car was mapped with his fitted.

Just wondered if i had seen it about locally mate don't see many s3's down south. Get some pics up when you can.

Ok mate no worrys i will once im out of work.

Well i had it for 2 month and got caught drink driving cos thats wot we do in france.. Got a ban for 13.5 month but license bk next week ! Dont drink and drive guys ! Ha !

Just think of the drive back after the map if you go to Bill or R-Tech, you will have one serious face ache when you get home from the smiling!!!

As a result of my remap from Bills - on the way home one of my front indicator side lights (pre face-lift) came loose and was dangling about on the bumper as the clips inside the light had broken to secure it.

I was having so much fun pulling in 3rd and 4th gears along the dual carriage ways I didn't realise the boost was slowly undressing my car :)

Cool that's the same as Nick did so will be good to compare the 2 cars after its back.

Plus mine is now booked in to see Bill too on the 17th of April :)

Thanks nilz ;) yea sounds like i almost made a mistake goin to jmk !

Nice one vrob ! Was gonna book that thursday ha ! Just one thing that bugs me, how come he's doing revo's for £499 but badger5 for £300 its almost half price ?

Revo is a brand name and therefore pricing is fixed across the dealerships. Bills custom software is his own design and he can charge what he feels I applicable.

So with the money you saved not getting Revo it will help pay for the B5 v2.2 TIP.

Also before you head up to see Bill it might be worth getting your head under the bonnet and making sure you don't have any obvious boost leaks / split hoses.
