Adding Electric Folding Mirrors

How do I find out if I need to replace the door control box to add Electric Folding Mirrors?? And has anyone done this ??

Yeah it has been done, I remember somebody posting a link to a tutorial of how to do it.

Yeah I did find this one with lots of detail :-

But no detail about the door control unit so not sure if the one that is already in my car will be ok or will I need to change it.

iv done it 3 times now
and scanned loads and loads of b8's
and ill say every 1 needed the door mods
but its quite an easy retro fit to do.

its quite confuseing about what door control moduals you do need aswell and there ££££ from audi
dont go on the part numbers alone go on the small pictures on the unit aswell or you could buy the part number needed and they wont work.

Ok thanks for that bez101, I was looking to buy a set from a 2012 B8 facelift the same as mine as these come with the control units and the door control, how easy is it to swap the covers on these as the ones im looking at are black and my car is white.

I am also assuming that the covers on my none electric folding ones will fit the electric folding ones ??

covers are tight and just need to take your time with them but easy to do
yes they covers will fit the folders there is 2 diffrent caps tho one with flasher at the bottom one with flasher cut into the cap

then get a close up picture of the control units as when i went to buy the units were wrong parts
you also need the door handle and light ring to put the switch in

i do on my laptop but might not get near that for a good few days

look in the top right corner the 4 boxes this is a unit that will work the folders the boxes need to be the same as in this picture
if there not the mirrors will NOT work

excellent .... thanks for that I was going to drop in and have a look at them to conform that they are the same style as mine s I can also check the door control units.

Also how would these show up on my vcds ?

I have a vcds can I see from that if the units in my car will control folding mirrors ? ( Just got this from NHN )

Also I see in the photo the boxes are solid ....

no dont go off vcds as above the part number could be the same and the 4 boxes diffrent
you need to remove door trim and look at the boxes

Ok ... I will be taking the door covers off next weekend as I have some puddle light looms to fit so can check then.

Hi All

Apologise for posting on an old thread, this was the first one I came across for folding mirrors

I have a black edition 2.0 TDI 11 plate, today I scanned both door modules and I have options for folding mirrors which I can enable, does this mean I have right door controllers?

Help is much appreciated
