I'm interested in some new 18" alloys but the offset is really low at ET29.
The alloys are 8.5J wide.

What are your opinions on this setup for my avant? Are they gonna poke out to much with 225/45/18 tyres on them?

Any help much appreciated. thanks.

my zender's are 8.5s and et35 and i run them with Falkens (ze914's) up front and conti's sport 2's, (i had them already) on the back - both 235 40 18

the falkens are a narrow 235 and the conti's are a wide 235 (if that makes sense) and they all run fine, no rubbing or anything else.

The tyres (235's mind) are pretty close to the line of the body work in the MOT sense but they passed ok.

So by my reckoning your rims'll be 6mm further out but your tyres about 5mm narrower putting the tyre edge in anout the same position as mine are?!

maybe of some use...

They're on courier at the moment!

Hint... oem A5 18's

Only realised today the centre bore on A5's are 66.6 !!
Spigot rings on their way to!

they should be cool no i mean hot no i mean cool.....:yahoo:

(there's a note about later audi wheels needing spigot rings in the wheel guide - some smart r's put it there:haha:!)

There's a few a5 design alloys on b6's and only seen these ones on one b6. His username is bradski I think?

Anyways, mine didn't turn up today like they should have but promised the guy who wanted my ones that were on the car that he could have them today, so I'm currently running his a3 17's with the stupidest offset ever with no spacers!!
Roll on Tuesday when hopefully my new ones arrive!!

Thats the one Dale!

If I must with a pic... Crud photo, to embarrassed to stand there and take a tidy one.
Needed the 15mm spacers on the front just to turn the wheel about half a turn..
Note the gap and how much the wheel sticks in on the rears.

New wheels now on though, fitted tonight. Going to need narrower tyres, with an offset of 29 and lowered slightly on perches they catch the arch over speed humps, removed top screw for now to minimise rubbing.
Pics tomoz of them.

I don't think they're that bad - tbh better than on an A3!

can't be merthyr - that photo though - at least not how I remember it - the hills aint black and you can see blue in the sky:whistle2:

(was at my folks in usk last weekend, down to newport and a quick blat along the heads of the valleys!)

The pic as at Aberdare sport centre, Merthyr never has blue sky. Lol

That pic makes them look a little ok, but honestly if I park next to a kerb, the arch hangs over it.

You know the offset is wrong when you park too close and kerb the arch..

Sorry guys that up this thred but i got B7 quattro sallon will i have some issues with the same 18" ET 29 ?
My tires are 235/40 and now i got BBS ET43 8J ... I will be really happy if someone can help me
Cheers

I think 235's will be ok. My wheels came with 245's and they rubbed front and back when going over the smallest bumps.
I put 225's on and that's cured it but I wish I put 235's on now.

Looking at a set of a5 the same as yours kris,
Et 29 with 245 tyres on standard se suspension be ok?
Will the low et poke the wheels out too much.....

The rears don't poke out at all but the fronts poke out a fraction and I mean a mm or 2.
They come with 245's, I've put 225's on now though but will be putting 235's on next.

245's

225's

Cool, they are genuine audi alloys so im going to have a look tonight
The larger centre bore wont matter as i already have spigots
Cheers kris keep you posted

Just a thought kris is that picture showing 245's lowered?
Whichever the 245's fill the arch nice

Just had a look at these alloys, great condition but trial fit looked terrible,,stuck out of the arch on the front too much for my liking.
the search for alloys continues...........

225's would have sorted that, my car looked silly with 245's on hence why I changed tyre size ASAP.
Im sure your right mate but couldn't stretch to changing tyres, shame really cos they are a nice wheel.
