A3 buyers: what is your reason not to buy the saloon?

Audi have a habit of building cars that have steering devoid of feel. Compared to my Focus epas even the A3 isn't that good but at least the best of the bunch...

Don't agree I hated the focus but French cars are great fun

Don't get me wrong the a3 is a good handling car but, by any review, it is in no way as good as the focus was, especially on the limit. A renault isn't even in the same league, other than their motorsport ones...

The Renaultsport Megane is miles in front with regards handling.

Apologies, I thought you said "in the same league".
I'll clarify my point: when it comes to handling, the RS Megane is not in the same league as any A3 or S3.
i'm not disagreeing with you, so no need to go on the defensive.

Back on topic. Saloon looks good in pictures, not in real life, just looks mis-proportioned-it's just not big enough to pull off the saloon look.

I wasn't being defensive at all, just clarifying what I wrote. I think the 'saloon' is styled more like a coupe, that avoids it looking like a '3-box' car with a bit tacked upon the rear like other saloons mentioned in this thread...

I was disappointed that they didn't offer a 2 door version, but then same story on RS3 8P, so no great surprise.

Coupe in name, but same bodyshell with longer doors. I'd have had a much harder decision to make if that had been an option. Mini version of the A5.

I'd have been tempted by a coupe version of the S3. I rather like the BMW 2 series, so something like that would be good.
