Hello people,

started stripping my S3 to install all my audio gear, I'll put some progress pictures as I go along.
the audi has the Bose but it sounds ****** pants so time to get rid.

Stuff I'm planning on fitting are.

Morel supremo mid bass,
Morel supremo piccolo tweeters
Morel supremo crossovers
DLS a3 dual mono amp for the components
DLS a6 for the subwoofer,
Morel ultimo 10 subwoofer.
As I'm keeping the RNSE I'm going to use a Rockford fosgate 3 sixty processor.
All stealth and looking as OEM as possible.
Oh and fully dynamatted doors too.

pictures of the amps, speakers and the subwoofer.

All stripped out and hoping to get the front doors dynamated and the mid bass speakers fitted, maybe start the apost builds for the tweeters.

cheers Dan

Personally I quite like the Bose.., a few people have complained about it... But it sounds good in my car...

Regardless, this will be a good thread to follow... Keep up the good work ;)

Likewise, as long as I'm listening to a high quality file it sounds excellent to be honest, of course this is very subjective.

Could be tempted to dynamat the doors anyway though myself but more for road noise than anything else so I'll be following this :)

Shame you lads don't live local, It would be good for you lads to hear a proper SQ system.......it's not all about boom boom shake the room lol.........

Cheers for the comments lads....:)

Will keep an eye on this thread,

Also running a DLS A3 with Hertz hsk 165 speakers
and a Ascendant Audio Havoc for bass

Have also fully sound deadened the car.

Let us know how the sound processor is, as thats next on my list for audio upgrades

Wow very nice indeed, must have cost a pretty penny. Sound video test is a must, if you could do before and after even better!
Been meaning to upgrade my sound system as well but unsure what’s good and bad, so much choice. Can you explain a bit more about the items you’ve chosen, have no idea what few of them are. I would have thought the mono amp would power the sub and A6 would power the all the speakers no?

Hello,

the DLS a3 is a dual mono and will be driving my mid bass speakers in the doors, giving them about 150watts each.
The DLS a6 is a mono block that should give my subwoofer about 500watts.
I'm also going active now so not using the morel crossovers and using the crossovers on the Rockford 3 sixty, they will be run off a DLS a2 2 channel amp giving them about 75watts each.

The power cable I'll be using with be 0gauge to.

It has taken me well over 10 years to get this audio kit I started off with the old halfords stuff, and worked my way up to the morel.

But you can buy good second hand gear off eBay and other places for a friction of the price of this gear. The main thing is installation, sound deadening position of the speakers the right amps/ power.

This system will make the car shake but that's not my goal, I'm just after clear, detailed sound with balls when I want it.

Cheers for all your comments

Are you using anything in the way of signal processors? I've got a 12" sub hooked up in place of the tupperwarebox 6" woofer in the boot but the RNS-E is no good for controlling sound levels properly. I'm trying to find a decent solution without breaking the bank. Audison do some brilliant stuff but its too expensive and my door speakers are still standard, i only want decent sub control.

Hello People,

A good bit of work done today, finally fitted my Midbass speakers in and partly sound deadened the doors, only had one box of dynamat 3 sheets so more on order.

I was abit lazy and used the bose speaker as an adapter................... :surprised: reason being is, its a perfect fit, it is pretty sold (dynamat applied) and it sits in the door card perfect.

Anyway back on to the A-Pillar tweeter builds.

Started sanding them down, starting to take shape still more layers of fillter to make perfect.

Hopefully if the weather holds off I should get more done................Cant wait to get some life into my system.

Cheers Dan

What you gonna do about the speaker in the middle of the dash near the windscreen? Just leave it running off the HU?

Hello people

Cheers for the comments.

The centre speaker in the dash is run off the Bose amp in the boot, as I've remove the amp this speaker is now redundant.

Boydie, I cant live without a decent music in my car all my cars since I was 17 have had some sort of install, just now I've grown up and have less subwoofers, lol.

get a install in you know you won't regret it......:)

Cheers Dan

Hello mate,

Cheers for the comment.

I'm trying to keep it as OEM as possible, as for filler i use loads but it is worth it for the shape and finished result.

Cheers Dan

Sounds really good, still needs some fine tuning.....I now have a genesis st100 now for my tweeters so that has livened it up a little......:)

Finishing the false floor this weekend end and changing the prossessor from the RF 3sixty to a JBL MS8 so should see if that sounds any better.

Cheers Dan

Here's a video remember this is recorded on a iPhone....:) still 100% better than the Bose lol
