What mileage did people's S3's have on collection? Mine had 28, which seemed a bit high and I questioned it, but was told there's extra testing done at the factory on S/RS models. Seemed rubbish to me, but I wasn't in a position to argue. Trip 2 figures exactly match the delivery mileage, so I believe the odometer hasn't been zeroed at any point
Mine was similar - Like you not sure about the extra testing - Extended run to put petrol in I reckon

Mine came with 26. I'd consider around the 10 mark to be acceptable to be honest, but I'm sure there are little bits of **** take as the car makes its way across the channel to final destination. Oh to be a fly on the wall for the end to end journey.
Same as mine, questioned the dealer and he said that was normal!
My previous cars I bought from him had nowhere near that so was a bit suspicious.

Once the 135i gets it's LSD it will be a hell of a car (that said I couldn't own a car with a face like that).
Was expecting the S3 to take that with it's traction out of the corners, bit surprised really.

I asked my Audi dealer in Sweden and he said the normal distance they let go of the cars is 3-6 miles, or 5-10 km

My dealership told me that they do pre-check drives before the handover to the customer (on top of the factory test drive).
That old chestnut i.e they thrash it up the road - Pity they didn't do paint checks on mine before the handover - They might have spotted that someone polished the bonnet using wire wool instead of a polishing cloth

Ditto, they swirled mine up like mad but even though i was gutted I wanted my car so badly i said nothing ⦠also they made me pay up before showing me the car so not much i could have done.
I'll have to go to a specialist i know of and pay 400eur for the paint to be "repaired".

I've just requested my sales person to take off the protective skin and leave it alone. He's gone to ask whether that is possible as supposedly they need to clean it to do the PDI check on the paintwork (ironic). My detailer said if he has to repair the swirls from their poor washing methods it could cost me an extra £400 to rectify!
That's shocking - Fortunately on the 1st March they had a guy from a separate bodyshop who doesn't work for Audi and he took mine away and managed to get most of them out fortunately

I have washed it since and it looks ok but I still think it needs a more professional going over but hopefully not to the tune of £400!!

Mines had 27 on the clock. Didn't really question it though, was far too excited about collecting the car.
Just picked this lovely chip or 2 over the weekend on the bonnet and I've only had the car just over 2 weeks! Phenomenal car but it comes with the added running costs. Spoke with my detailer yesterday who can see if it can be rectified by machine otherwise I'm looking at a respray. Hassles! Once it's done I'm gonna get the front fully protected then not drive the car ever again....well at least until I've recovered some of the unnecessary expense. Sorry to divert off topic.
Bad luck. I'm struggling to find any one who has the templates for the new S3 for the 3m ventureshield. Got a guy in Bristol happy to do it but he wants £500.
Also I test drove a S3 demonstrator yesterday and it had just been prepped and was I first to drive it. Had 25 miles on the clock...
£500 for the whole car? Does it have to be 3m? Are they're any cheaper alternatives on the market that can do they same job?
That was me mate. Ben said I could take yours for a blast on the a1 as I hadn't driven an an stronic one. Lol

If you can catch your fingernail in it then no will really need paint fella!
I am however shocked at the swirls in your above pic of you only having two weeks!!!
I can catch my thumbnail in it :-( Really need paint?...like the whole bonnet or just the areas required? Why are the chips showing a white undercoat?
Was planning on gettin her detailed shortly after collection anyway I just didn't anticipate further work!
I'm getting mine protected with GTechniq crystal serum. It's a chemical compound that bonds to the laquer that forms a new surface on top of the laquer so that the serum becomes the new surface of the car. It's a hard durable surface so it should be much more resilient to swirls and fine scratches. Obviously you would be best off washing using the 2 bucket method anyway to further help reduce the chance if swirls and scratches.
For the outside if the car done at the dealership is costing £370 from TDI (Total Detailing International) based in South Shields. I'm getting audi to do the interior and Chris from TDI to do the exterior.
Saves me waxing the car for what should be the lifetime of my ownership.

You can't just paint a part. The whole panel will need doing. Not sure on the white tho. I know primer is usually light grey.

Please no! I'm not saying your out of touch by any means!
But a new car having ONE wash is never going to cause £400 worth of extra work! Audi paint being ceramic is so god dam hard they even make specific ceramic compounds & Polish LOL!

Smart stone chip repairs undertaken by the likes of Chips Away only paint the area required so why would it be different in my case?
What determines whether a panel needs spraying again or just the area affected?

I think if they can do a smart repair with something like Chipex it stops them having to do a full respray. I'm not an expert on paint jobs, so couldn't advise on the thresholds between when a smart repair becomes a respray. Thing is it's rare that they can just do the bonnet. Very often they'll need to blend the paint job into adjacent panels and thats when it gets expensive. You're best off talking to people who know.

If you did want to paint the bonnet really would not need blending as its not obvious Like a door! it really has nothing to compare too!
Save your money as on my professional experience it's only a matter of time before another stone flicks up or grittier is out plastering all our beloved cars with salt and stones lol!
Just get a OE Touch up and apply as and when fella!

£500 covers protection for the headlights, the front half of the bonnet, first half of the wings, the bumper and wing mirrors. I've had it before and this is really all you need. 3m is the stuff everyone uses, not sure there are any other brands. It's not cheap but then it gives you peace of mind I guess.
If you know a decent valeter / smart repair specialist these types of chips can be repaired, it won't be perfect but your eye won't be drawn to it as much. It's been mentioned on another thread how to do it - but basically you touch up the chip, wet and dry it down so it sits level with the clear coat and then machine polish out the marring. Seals it and again makes it less noticeable.

Mine had the same; this was when it still had the protective covers still on and 2 hrs after delivery to the dealer.
