RS3 grill Group Buy

I used this guide:

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-...l-replace-your-front-grille-facelift-8p3.html

The only thing to note is that my screws on the bottom of the bumper were all torx not phillips head like the guide, I used a Torx 20 and 30 and 10mm socket for the whole job.

Also the 10mm bolt is pretty far forward behing the arch liner, much more so than it looks in the photo, like 8" or so.

Remember to unplug the fogs (squeeze hard and pull down).

To separate the OEM grille from the bumper there are a lot of torx screws then 4 white tabs at the top that need some careful coaxing with a flathead screwdriver to get out.

Do you have to refit the radiator cover from your old grille onto these rs ones

Stage 6
You may choose not to do this stage at your own risk as you may think the part has no use. It is a radiator cover although it doesn’t cover the entire radiator, just the top section.
This item is permanently heat staked to the old grille, but can be removed and re-used. Remove the radiator cover from the rear of the grille highlighted below. You will need to drill all the plastic sections (circled) so that it can come away from the grille.

Can only speak for mine, but the S3 OEM grille didn't have a radiator cover at all so nope, assumed it was maybe just something on the A3 one.

Hmmm wonder if zee can comment on this mines an s line is this gonna be custom fit

Figured i'd take some photos, got mine in today :)

Looks lovely S3J. Unfortunately we won't get ours for a while. Ups can't hold it at the Edinburgh depot until they have a failed delivery and I call to ask them to hold. The next prob is that they only allow parcel collections up until 5pm ( I work 7-7). Can't collect on a Saturday either. Looking like 2weeks until I have a Friday off to go and collect. :'(
The only plus is that it will give me time to find an s3 front bumper.

Missed the boat with these , but can someone post link to were I can get rs3 grill for facelift model please - are they genuine audi or replica?

Cheers

Alex

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395175680878916that's mine arrived! Will be putting it on tomorrow! Has people been leaving the number plate holder on or off? My plate is smaller than standard size and wondering if it will just stick onto the grill?

As you can see I left the holder on for a normal sized plate... not sure id trust a plate stuck straight onto the mesh personally and im not sure how it'd look either..

I wouldn't rely on sticky stuff I'd be re-using two of the original mounting clip/insert things, use them to attach a flat plate of some sort then tape the number plate on to this plate.

Yeah I'll have to have a think about it. Maybe just use a standard size plate just thought it would look better if u could see more of the grill..

Heres mine regarding fixing the plate i used some ultra sticky tape we use at work to get the plate flush so its not standing proud off the holder 20140318 21490120140318 22255520140318 22255520140318 223125

Curious, how long did it take to change the grill?

Well that's it all done! And happy! Not to bad a job thought it was going to be worse. :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395238358144159ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395238366993135

Yeah I have mate and stuck it on with double sided stuff I got from work! That's not coming off anytime soon lol

Hmmm looks better than mine, maybe because you have smaller plates too though, don't think i'd gain much - going to have a look tonight when I fit my new set of plates on (same size but no holes and without the dealer livery and with a different flag on :)) Does the plate holder come off without dropping the bumper?

I seen a few guys had done it with the smaller plate and presume they just stuck it on aswell so ordered one, thought I'd try it and see how well it holds before putting the bumper on and holds much better than I thought!
I think u could get it off but u might loose the clips down the back of the bumper which would be a problem if you decided to put it back on!

Mine in bodyshop as I write having a little scuff repaired so thought I'd leave it to them to fit
