Hello all,

I have owned various Audi A4's previously, then went onto different cars for some reason!?

I've now fixed the lose screw within my head and back on track - I've just ordered my new A4, S-Line black Edition, Quattro, 177, S-Tronic with loads of goodies!! :w00t:

Going to be reading through the forum and no doubt asking plenty of questions

Yes, B8, brand new...... still waiting on my delivery date, hoping for Mid April or Mid May at the latest I've been told!

What colour did you end up going for?

I went for Glacier White in the end, I was really torn between this and Scuba Blue!
The ONLY reason I went white is due to the dark wheels and blacked out windows..... I thought on the blue it would all look too dark, on the white you have the contrast and personally I think it looks a lot nicer. I had Ibis white on my older A4, apart from it marking easily I loved the colour, so I thought with Glacier it should be better protected than a base paint.

It will look good! When I ordered my BE I was toying between the Glacier, Scuba and Daytona! Thought the Daytona looked stunning but a little too corporate, I'm also not great at keeping my cars clean so decided on the Scuba in the end! Really pleased with how it looks though.

I agree on the Daytona, lovely colour! Again personal taste but I find that most grey, silver, black cares are more corporate looking so always avoided.

So does your Scuba have the blacked out windows? If so, any pictures!?
I saw some Scuba A4's at the dealer with the wheels, but not the blacked out windows, its almost like this is left off them which is why I was really torn, without being able to see one I didnt want to make the wrong decision.

No it doesn't have blacked out windows. The dealer told me that only the Avants come with them? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395069433488509ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395069464903226

That is lovely!! Makes me think I should have ordered blue now! lol.
That's strange, I spoke to a couple of dealers about this and neither mentioned that to me? What you're saying though does make sense considering I couldn't find any pictures online with them? Very strange, as tinted windows is part of the BE package?

I must admit, tinted windows for me was a must so if thats the case the the white will be right for me, even if I do have to clean after every journey!!!

Thanks, I'm really pleased with the colour. I hadn't seen a BE in that colour until it arrived at the dealers, so was a bit of a gamble!
I think you should double check with your dealer that the glacier does come with the blacked out rear windows as I was under the impression none of the A4 saloons do..even the brochure said it was only available on the Avant models.

Thanks for this information - I've just emailed the dealer to ask! After looking at an online brochure that does appear to be the case, if so I'm going to be.......... lets say the polite way, a little annoyed!!

A member for only half a day and already very useful! Thanks for that, appreciate the heads up. They best tell me it can be done as this is one of the reasons for the colour decision, we even discussed it again at the time of ordering in the showroom, so need to rectify this or get it added before delivery!

Well it's not good news. Audi came back last night confirming that tinted windows are not on the saloon anymore, I have argued the point why I was not notified when we were in the showroom discussing - this morning they have replied stating they thought I was talking about the window trim? How Window trim would effect the colour of the whole car is beyond me, personally sounds to me like he was not aware of the change as I was not?

I put in my cancellation last night as that was the 14 days cooling off period. The best they are offering this morning is aftermarket tinted windows but that will cost me £300! Also, with my children I dont know what the UV filteration is like on aftermarket tints as opposed to the official Audi tinted windows?

I'm sorry to hear that they did mis lead you about the windows but glad that you've sorted it before it was too late!
With regards to the aftermarket tints I've no idea about them, could be worth phoning some local company's to get a price and some more info regarding the UV filtration. If would also be good to know if they're giving you a reasonable price for the aftermarket option too! If it is a good price I would push for them to pay for it, I wouldn't have thought they would want to lose the sale of the car over £300! Just stand your ground and see what they can do!
It does seem strange why they don't do it on the A4 saloon though as it is a nice touch.

I don't believe that privacy glass has been available on the saloon for sometime. I've had several cars tinted and had mixed results, down to the experience of the fitter. UV protection will be just as good if not better, only thing to watch for is any foreign objects making contact with the glass on the inside as this can cause scratches...

£300 is fairly high for just the rear to be done, but you do get what you pay for... If you end up paying for it then you should pay the fitter direct to avoid the dealer putting on their cut...

Thanks all, appreciate the feedback!

Audi have given me the details of a local company they use, it appears that a lot of Audi customers have this work done (which says to
me Audi should never have removed the tint from their saloon A4 BE range?).

The guy I spoke to came across very genuine, and very passionate about what he did, running for 18 years, using 5 stage water filtration and a lifetime guarantee, he said the supplier of the tint is Suntek. He went on to explain how the product does not fade like others can, it offers UV & UB protection so leather interior will not fade, it will not scratch when opening and closing the windows, and when done properly will not bubble - he got very passionate at this point advising it is other cheaper companies that give people like him a bad name making it tough in business (I understand where he is coming from as I'm sure there are plenty of cowboys out there).

The cost is £250 for the Carbon 18% Dark Smoke which he advised usually goes on all the Audi's they do.

Now I need to reply to Audi and see if they will take some of the cost? Bit of an strange situation as they are arguing its not listed so it was my assumption that lead to this - although as I mentioned earlier which is my argument, I went in specifically about this and was not advised.

How did you get on with the dealer?

Sorry, I had another thread going - http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s4-a4-a4-cab-b8-chassis/212797-window-tints.html - as this was supposed to be just an introduction page

BUT........ Good result, Audi agreed to cover the cost so I withdrew my cancellation and its all go again! :yahoo:
Just had another email this morning confirming my car should be delivered around the start of May, they will ensure the windows are done prior to collection. Seems so far away though..... lol.

Really appreciate everyones help though, nice to get peoples opinions/feedback!

Glad that you've managed to get it sorted without it costing you any more money!
Roll on May then! Looking forward to seeing some pictures when you collect it :)

Will do mate, be taking plenty upon collection so I know what a clean car really looks like!
