Ok, having lived with my car for a few weeks now there are a couple of things that Audi seems to have missed a trick on with the tech now built in to the cars.

Some thoughts;

1) use of the lane assist camera and sd card slot for video recording of the road ahead - like a dash cam. The camera is HD quality so why not give use the ability to record on a 2 hr rolling loop etc?

2) activate camera recording on alarm sounding and/or other externally detected factors like presense activation etc

3) the ability to pair two Bluetooth phones at once so either can receive an incoming call (this is available on other cars easily)

4) hdmi in or adaptor cable for the mmi

5) surround sound use for the parking sensors. Have had this before, means the beeping comes out of the relevant speaker to give you more of a sense of where the obstacle is

6) ability for the driver to set a setting for the car to automatically set the ACC top speed to be the camera seen speed limit displayed on the dash by pressing a button etc.

Anyone else thought of anything?

What a great list! Love the number 1 idea!
I wish it logged a list of each journey to sd card in excel format. Would be great for doing work expenses. Could also include mpg data etc. My mate had a seat ibiza and it does something similar! Come on Audi

6.1) set the ACC to the speed limit +10 mph :p

This works on our car, the 'beeps' come from the speakers representing the nearest parking sensor. We have the B&O, not sure if this is an additional feature or not???

Ok, I have b&o so will really listen closely next time I'm parking

-1 I live in Sweden and we have allot of cold mornings, and i wish Audi could offer the same "remote heater" system as Volvo does.

with a great user friendly app.

-2 I agree about the HDMI input, would be nice if it was easy to play something on the screen

-3 i will miss my electronic gear changer in my BMW

Yep, I wish they offered the parking heater here too. I'd have paid any money to have that as I'm clinically a cold person!

Gear changer?? What does that do?

The Volvo on Call is 1000£ and its well worth the money.

Here is a picture on the gear shifter:

doesn't it? cant say it was that obvious

Yup, have thought much the same about all your points - definitely the camera one! It is monochrome, but I don't suppose that would make much difference for use as a dashcam. For the HDMI one - could just be that the AMI doesn't support a digital video signal, and would need extra hardware to convert it to analogue, but i would guess at there being no technical reason it couldn't be done, other than cost.

The auxilliary heating is an option in some places - Scandinavia I thought, but obviously not if it isn't available in Sweden!

And have wished for #6 a lot. I can understand why they wouldn't want it to happen automatically, but a button to copy the speed limit to the ACC would be brilliant.

Oooh, that would be a good solution. Can be done in software that way, maybe suggest it to Audi for a future update!

Isn't that just the standard BMW autobox? Ie s-tronic on the audi?

Yes it is standard, but i really like the look and feel of it.
The S-tronic in the S3 seems abit old when i compair it

.

I have it on my car, crazy that I can have it here and it's not available in the UK

Its not available on the S3 engine, according to my dealer Audi still have not "made" the part from the heater to the engine "isch"

Where are you based snowfree? It's not available on any engine in the UK as far as I'm aware!

I have a more basic observation; allow the clock, date, mileage and odometer readings to be permanently displayed, regardless of what's displayed on the computer, just like they used to be. Failing that, they could have made the customisable steering wheel button work like the 0.0 button and temporarily display that data. And finally, why is the full computer data not available to display on the MMI, like Porsche for one do? And why does the S3 not have an engine temperature gauge, surely that's of far more use to the driver than a Boost gauge. So I think Audi need to sort out the basics first.

I'd like to get a RS monitor, as Renault do in Megane RS. Looks pretty

That style of shifter is definitely the way forward compared to the traditional style. However, I do like the golf ball look of the S tronic shifter - almost looks like a manual from a distance.
