Is oil pump failure a known issue on the petrol engines?

My pump has just failed at 95k and i am looking at a 2k bill to rectify damage caused

engine is the 2.0TFSI with 220bhp Special Edition (same as DTM)

Not sure which engine code, but it is one of these engines ... apparantly all carry same oil pump
BGB, BUL,BWE,BPG,BWT,BYK,BPJ

That will be the BUL engine I think.....not one of the guilty codes normally. Did you have full service history and stuff?

A

last service done at indy, next service due in 2k miles.

Only ever took car to audi around 3 times. I doubt they would offer me any compo

You never know unless you try.

Did it happen when driving or just starting the car?

And were there any signs of low oil pressure warnings on the dash?

If you have the 220 hp then its most likely the BUL.

It usually was not common for the oil pumps to go on cars above 2006. But it seems more and more are creaping out I think this is the 5th or 6th gone this year from my knowledge.

2k is not that bad considering the uprated unit oil pump is £1005 trade price.

was it the oil pump or pick up pipe that failed ?
all the 2.0 are known for both to fail

the price you quoted above is for the diesel pump
the petrol is known to go and pick up to get blocked
and no where near £1005 for a petrol oil pump

just over £100 not fitted
but his 2k price is cos he will need new turbo etc etc

We must have our wires crossed.

Are you talking about the actual pump or the pick up tube or something completely different.

Because im talking about the following part number:

06B103535F - £838.33 trade price = £1006 with vat from tps
06D103295P

I know the pick up tube is the following part:

06B115251B

And that is around £100

Let me know because if its 100 quid im buying loads and storing them.

This is what I was referring to Original VAG 2.0 TFSI Oil pump balance shaft module 06D103295S | Clearance | LOBA Motorsport GmbH

Not that exact part number but that unit.

I'm on about the oil pump that includes the pick up for the petrol engine iv got a recipe from Sheffield Audi from jan 14 £126.94 plus vat the diesel pump is over a grand

That price if over a grand includes the balance shaft unit aswell

Yes the 1k prices includes everything balance shaft, oil pump, pick up etc

Could you possible check for me the part number on your recipe. So I can keep it on record.

Thanks

Diesel oil pump on its own is £180 just had one fitted at vag specialist.

I went to see the car today. Indy has stripped car down and removed sump and oil pump. The oil pump in my car is chain driven and I believe this was changed to gear driven the following year. The chain that drives the pump on mine had snapped and this caused the chain guide to break and the sprocket/cog to be bent.

A new oil pump is indeed over 1k cost. (audi quoted me £1200 for 06D103295P which is pump and balancer shaft).
Indy is trying to see if he can get the pump repaired somehow otherwise it will need a new pump and chain etc.

My BGB recently failed, on dismantling it seems it may be just the pickup partially blocked as the pump and shaft seem intact. Still need a new head due to collateral damage though.

That's a bummer....I tried to get the sump off my BGB engine last winter to change my pick up strainer.....and gave up...I couldn't manage to remove the sump cover as there was two bolts which were hidden and near impossible to remove at the clutch end....wish someone could solve the mystery for me on the BGB.

to get the 2 bolts out you need to remove part of the gearbox
or you can cut the smapp piece of metal thats hideing them

Cheers Bez.....I vaguely remember giving up at the point.....really frustrating they designed it that way.....or was that to deliberately give the garages more labour hours....cause other VAG petrol engine sumps are not so difficult to remove.

on my engine, the mechanic had to drop the suspension to get sump off. Not sure if that's due to the Quattro though.

On a side note, I discovered powermax engineering in Ireland...who seem to be selling repair parts for the oil pumps

Audi Vw 2.0 TDi Oil Pump Problems, Chain Repair Kit, Gear Conversion, Balnce Shaft Repair,

iv used powermax a few times for parts
good service

Are 06B103535F and 06D103295P the same part?
2006 A4 Quattro 220hp BUL engine code.

My oil pressure light came on my Audi A4 special edition this weekend immediately as soon as the warning came on the engine started to knock very loudly looks like the big ends are completely shot due to the engine sounding like a tractor the car was engine flushed at last service six months ago and only done 6000 miles since last service phoned a company in Wales called the engine centre any one heard of them quoted me an engine rebuild in 7-10 days coming with a years warranty or 20.000 miles for 2 k

Hi Feza, How did it go after??
Only asking, cause my oil pump has gone on mine after engine sounding like a tractor and then oil pressure light on dash after reving it up, ( Stupid I know, but hey ho ).
All sounds the same as mine ( A4 B7 2.0TFSi ). I had the oil pressure light come on but went straight off again. Ended up having engine flush. About 3 weeks later, the pressure light came back on again. I then had the oil pick up pipe changed and then about 6 months after that my Audi is a tractor:(

So even after replacing the suction pipe to the newer version the engine still failed , sounds like numerous other owners problems, all changed the suction pipe and it made no difference whatsoever.
