Ok, managed to get this all working.

You will need

Audi AMI composite AV cable with 3 RCA jacks (yellow, white, red)
Apple lightning to hdmi adaptor
usb powered hdmi to composite av converter (eBay)
interconnect cables (av and hdmi)

Connect it all together and viola! It works just fine.

The apple hdmi adaptor mirrors the iPhone screen (generally) so you can web browse, YouTube etc. It also will stream bbc news live, all of the catchup tv channels, Iplayer too. 4Od does not work however.

The apple hdmi adaptor also allows you to charge the iPhone at the same time by plugging in a lightning cable to it at the same time.

I do have an Apple TV at home so need to do some experimenting with that to make it far less wire heavy in the car.

just need to figure out how to power one without using an inverter!

Great result, will it mirror a speed camera app? Can you post a pic of the cable setup?

Regards

Veggie

Sure. I will get some pics sorted when I have a sec and it's light outside.

I need to make a movie of it all working so you can see what it can do.

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't mirror a speedcam app but obviously it would need you to be on media on the MMI.

Surely you'd also need VIM enabled, as the video feed would cut off when you start moving?

It's just a bunch of connectors and adapters in a chain... there's no 'install' as such!

Would be nice to see how it works and looks in the cabin before going out and get the stuff.

Nice work...

Sorry to poop on the thread but you will need VIM enabled to keep apps such as TomTom / Waze / Speed Cams being viewed over 5kmph.

Good if you're parked up and want to watch YouTube etc!

Video as promised.

I'll sort out a list of eBay links tomorrow to all the bits for completeness.

I still can't get it to work but searched for it on YouTube and found it there fine :) Good job! Does it also work on the move or only when stationary?

Sorry VIM enabled????

Video In Motion. The video feed will cut when you start moving.

Yep that's the problem.

Plenty of ways / people / places to get VIM enabled if you want to get it operating while you move along. It's just not cheap yet.

And presumably illegal as I don't think you can play videos in the front of a car when driving - fairly logical really - or maybe its ok with ACC active ;-)
