Rice's S3

Well havent updated this for sometime so here goes!

Had the Audi off the road for a while as i dont drive it in this weather, and was about time i did some bits to it that i wouldn't have got round to otherwise.

So took the front end off, stripped down the lights, wet sanded them, polished them etc, then reassembled.

Pic of before and after, or after and before as theyre backwards in the photo.

New indicator as one had basically all the clips broken, and was just held in with tiger seal (shame on me)

Decided the get the intercooler pipes powder coated satin black as i thought it would improve the look of the front end

Hated the look of the smoked chrome eyelets that were on the buckets, so sprayed them black, huge improvement!!

Before;

After;

Going all arts and crafts on my boost gauge with some repair tape to get it to match the red dials...

Oh and one other small thing, got some new tyres! Parada spec 2's.

Gave all the wheels a clay, to get rid of some rust from the discs, a cut, polish, and finally sealed.

Got some silver indicator bulbs to tidy up the front end a little bit, pretty happy with how its looking!

Ye i remember it being for sale at a garage near me then a young lad driving it around. Where are you now?

Would you mind telling me the name of the garage that had it for sale? Id be interested to know.

Yeah that's right... Its in Devon now.

Ah that would make sense, it had some car star plates on it. Thanks :)

Firstly - I really like your cat. Love the racey interior too and the fact that you've still got the armrest! The black seat holes look soooo much better in black. What a difference!

Car or cat? Lol.. Much appreciated mate :)!

I think I speak for us all on the forum when I say both.

This car looks so mean! nice job on the seats, nice to see something different. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the compliments everyone, really appreciate it :). Im a massive fan of the seats, theyre the perfect mix of motorsport look and comfort, and not going too ott, as it only a road car, i dont need huge bucket seats.

Getting new rear brake lines fitted next week, as mine are pretty bad! Then MOT next month, on the road in time for the nice weather (hopefully).

If I knew what model they were I'd tell you, but I don't, they're an old model, that's about all I know, about 8 years old I think! But the car they came out of was barely used, hence why they're in such good nick!

What they cost you dude? You would never say they 2nd hand! Still look so new

You're going to hate me for this lol, but nothing. They came out of a car my old man had, and he put the originals back in and gave me those : D! To say I was happy was an understatement, especially as they came with the side mounts and universal runners, so I just had to bolt it up to the recaro subframes, happy days :).

That is soooo unfair!!!!!!!!! Well I call dibs on them if you ever wana get rid of them and I don't have any yet lol

Lol ok. Might be a bit pricey to ship to south africa mind.

Put the boost gauge in, fairly happy with the colour, perhaps a little too pale, but fine for now.

Before and after

Thanks for the 'how to' at how to split them apart tuffty :).

So little update. Got the Audi mot'd on Saturday ready for the nice weather we will hopefully be getting! Developed a misfire at full boost - discovered it was a dodgy coilpack luckily had a spare.

Havent given her a proper clean in a while so started on it yesterday.

First was a heavy hit of Iron-x - it had a ridiculous amount of iron fallout on it!! Photos really dont show how much iron was on the paintwork.

Followed by Tardis, wasnt much tar on it but did it anyway. Took advantage of my three pretty much unused waxyboxes and sampled a polish and glaze, then a megs wax.

Little before and after of the exhaust tips.

What a flippin lovely day for a spot of detailing... Then took her out for a burn.

Only just started reading your thread but will be reading the rest. Noticed the hardinge conquest in one of your photos. We only have a cobra and gt. Same wheels on your disco as on my defender. Good work with the s3. Will read rest later.

Thanks prawn!

Oh yeah that crappy old thing lol, i don't get involved in turning, milling ftw :).
Sold my disco now and got a mk4 gt tdi as a daily!

Ah you all CNC? I'm trying to get into milling more but mostly on the turning. But alot of 4 axis stuff with live tooling. I'm guessing you do larger stuff. Helps when coming to making new componants having machines to make them on tho. Very nice car. How do you like your gauges?
