Tom's Quattro Special Ed.

Should probably update this...

So last weekend i set about fitting the coilys. All in all went pretty well. Just some issues with getting the fronts out (rears just popped out surprisingly), after trying my hardest to do the fronts without taking the top control arms off, ended up taking them off. Out came the front struts. So pretty tight nuts and bolts but did it all without breaking a thing. I didn't put the rear adjusters in as i know ap's done. Will put the adjusters back in sometime then i can raise the front up too.

Here's how it sits now...

Took advantage of the nice weather and gave it a good wipe over

:)

Very well, 5x more comfy than the standard. Need to raise it up as handling had been compromised slightly on the fronts as they're rubbing badly. But all in all i'm very happy with them.

A B7 or a Mk5 GTi is on my list of things to buy next and can't decide. Can I ask why you chopped the GTi in? Did you have problems with it?

It wasn't a GTI hehe. Was a PD105 with a gti front end and gti seats bla bla

Ooosh, you fooled me then :) Both nice looking cars.

Cheers bud. To be honest they're both great shells. The engine is awesome! I'd have the AWD any day, but you it does has its benefits and draw backs (Fuel :( ) like everything. The MK5 handled better as it was lighter, can't really compare the power as they were two completely different engines. But the TFSI with quattro is in a league of its own! You'll have the same TFSI problems with both engines. Carbon build up on intake valves, PCV valve failure, Fuel pump lobe and follower, DV valve etc. The block itself is pretty bullet-proof!

Just a couple snaps from last weekend:

Got a southbend stage 2 endurance clutch coming from the states, so should be here in the next week or two. Says it's good for 450ft lb's so at least ill future proof that side of things :)

Tom

Like it a lot mate  Got a link to the where you got the clutch from?

I ordered it via euroenginuity (US company). I saw they had it for sale (advertised on instagram). They said they'd give a hell of a deal so it might have been one just lying around and they needed to shift it on so i got it for a pretty dam good price (including import duty).

I was in contact with frank (frank@euroenginuity.com) and he was very helpful. Payed via Paypal and he sent it out 2 hours later! worth enquiring if you're interested for sure.

So put the rear adjusters back in as i wasn't really enjoying hitting every single piece of asphalt!

Raised buy about 10mm. Also fitted my BSH PCV fix kit. Not sure there was anything wrong with the other one but at least that'll knock that one on the head.
