Hi All,

Hope you are well,

I have an audi a4 s line 2009 with the LED headlights, my driver side headlight bulb has turned off, it has turned off afew times in the past months but once i turned it off and on again it started working. It now only comes on for afew seconds and turns off.

Is this the bulb or the control unit?

Also dealers want £170 per bulb, i have had a look on ebay and you can get genuine Philips ones for about £60.
As they are Xenon would they need to be 4300k or 6000k?

Any suggestions appreciated

Thanks in advance :)

They're not led, they're xenon D3S bulbs, don't use ebay as allot are fake, try emc tuning a site sponsor aka T8ups username, if he cant supply genuine then get from hids direct for about £80 delivered or 2 iirc, genuine aswell & don't buy 6k, stick with 4300k stock as light is awful with 6k I know this 100% for sure.

I think the OP is referring to the fact they are the DRL LED headlights as apposed to the Halogens.

This sounds more likely to be a ballast issue rather than bulb as the xenon is working intermittently. The control unit you are referring to is the LED control unit, assuming the LEDs are working then it won't be this.

NHN is right, don't think that the higher the Kelvin number means the better the bulb. The kelvin range stated on products is usually inaccurate anyways.

Yes Bi-Xenon D3S Bulbs, what about the philips onces that are being sold on ebay?

The LED's are working fine, it is just the headlight bulb thats not working. I was thinking maybe the gas it starting to run out thats why its stop working???

What colour will show up on 4300k? will it match the colour on the LED's?

Lol, no.

I've told you already the problem is likely to not be the bulb but the xenon ballast (ETKA calls them control units).

The bulb is now completely off and doesnt turn on. I am presuming the gas has run out,

I think it will be the bulb and not the ballast?

what are your thoughts? I will change the bulbs on saturday and let you know...

Your stock bulbs are d3s, 4300k. Many of us have changed to 6k lights. It has a slightly blue tinge, which looks pretty cool. The stock 4300k lights has a slight yellow tinge to it. There's many fakes on eBay so probably have to get from a reputable shop. If it's cheap, it's probably fake.

Hi Guys,

thought id let you know i bought a set philips 4300k bulbs from ebay for £38 delivered. Ive changed the bulb and its working fine. It matches the original one which is even better :)
