ive noticed on a few cars they have the middle belt as a 3 point belt?
now my cars an early avant and the rear seat lock is different to the others ive seen.
so is there any way I could retro fit the middle 3 point belt?

Think you need to swap the locking pins for the backrest, getting the pretensioner to function would be difficult though.

I think there was a post somewhere on here about somebody fitting the avant seats to a saloon (which I believe has the same mounting as early avants) and if I remember right there was a bit of welding involved, but I can't be sure on that.

Pretensioner goes back to the airbag ecu so that would be pretty involved, so it may be that it just doesn't function?

My FL B5 Avant has the three point centre belt, I'd need to have a look to see what's involved with it. Not even sure if the centre belt has a pretensioner.
Perhaps FL rear seats installed would be the way forward?

yea if you could get a few pictures for me bud that would be great,
I would only need the one side from a qts and I would be good.
or either that I wonder how hard it would be to swap the material.

you could just ignore the pretensioner.

You will need to cut the brackets out of a later avant and weld them into yours though.

weldings not a problem.. my brother could do it and you would never know its been done..
only bit that's got me worried is the pretensioner. the middle belt isint used a lot but occasionally it is which makes me think a 3 point belt would be a nice thing to have.

Why are you worrying about the pretensioner?

Leave it disconnected. Its still far safer than a lap belt, and the seatbelt will operate just fine without it.

Your airbag controller wont have the functionality to run the third pretensioner anyway.

Everything is all built into the rear seat, can't even tell if the middle has a pretensioner.
I'm away to the scrappy shortly, need a new front window motor assembly, cable snapped last week.

if theres a middle pretensioner there will be some wiring coming out the bottom of the seat back and connecting to the car loom.
