Hi All

As you can see I am a new member, however I would like to thank you all off the bat as I have often read post on hear to help me with my lack of knowledge with my new purchase.

I have never used a forum before so not to sure on the etiquette, but I do have a couple of questions that I hope some of you may be kind enough and able to answer.

1. Will the following shocks be suitable for my S3 Quattro 2.0lTFSI with 30mm Apex Lowering springs already fitted. It has standard shocks and they need replacing. Not sure OE will last. Will they have the correct dampening rate, weight load etc? koni-fsd-shocks-s3-quattro-06-07 part 2100-4016
2. Will an 8P 2012 S3 face lift tail gate fit on 8P 2007/57 pre face lift S3? (As it had an argument with the garage door and I bought this as a replacement like a fool without checking first :-(

Any way thanks for reading and any help given.

I look forward to speaking to you all.

1. Is there any reason your changing your dampers as well as the springs... 25mm H&R springs lower the car pretty well and sit of the standard dampers... No comfort issues for me yet... There is also an Eibach method of lowering the front end so that arch gap is equal, but this creates positive rake on the car and is not something i'd chose personally but its still an option...

2. If you've bought like for like i.e sportback to sportback.. then i'd imagine you'll be fine..

Hi S3 Jacko

Thanks for replying.

Yes the reason being I bought the car with the apex springs but fitted with original dampers on which n/s/f is starting to weep :ermm:. I was told it will happen again if I replace with the standard shocks. Is that true?

That's great about the tailgate it did seem to be the same shape although slight styling differences. It was from a three door like mine but mine is pre facelift.

oh I amended my original post to include the info you ask for as it may make more sense to others.

cheers

I'm not too sure buddy... I've not heard of a lot of people on here using a 30mm apex spring setup on a S3.. Usually its either the 25mm H&R or Eibach setups... Depends on what way you wanna go... These are the most tried and tested setups and a lot of people to my knowledge hasnt had any issues... Either that or go full coilover setup

Yeah pre-facelift to facelift rear ends are straight swap I believe, its only the lower valance that had been changed on the new model, and that can be changed from pre-facelift by just changing the lower section of the bumper... So i'm sure you'll be ok..

Thanks again

I will look into if the springs are 30mm or not. Seems to drive fine as is but I'm no expert on these things

I did have a look there on ebay.. They do exist but are very cheap... Av ammended my previous post for it ;)

Cheap is probably why shock has gone. So what did you think on Koni shocks?

Hi

Well as I say ride is fine and handles ok for me. Just unsure which way to go shocks OE or after market?
