Tempted by anything like Zircotec ceramic heat shielding coatings, or just leave it as is (would be a shame to ruin the finish really)?
Do you have to use a heat resistant gasket on that to reduce heat transfer? (Sorry, so many questions!)

Not tempted to coat the inlet to be honest as it shouldn't need anything like that.
This comes without a heat resistant gasket but AMD will be able to provide that I'm sure.
Not sure what's best to be honest as this is alloy rather than plastic.

I think from memory you can get a phenolic thermally insulated inlet manifold gasket which supposedly (significantly) reduces the heat transfer from the block to the manifold. Bill Brockbank used to supply them in my Leon Cupra R days, but not sure where you'd go to get one for an 8P. The beauty of the OEM ones being plastic is the specific heat capacity of the material makes it less conducive to heat soak, whereas more thermal management is required when using metal units.

I'd like it fitted yesterday to be honest,but I think I'll have to wait a week or so until both AMD and myself can fit it in.
well he has a few DSG and 02Q boxes along with an S4 RS4 and RS6 box to do which he hasn't delivered for over 8 months, and he isnt answering the phone either so the workshop and i are going for an injunction.. first step is a letter of demand.. then there might be another place but at the extra cost of a grand AU $$ of course ****** me right off as no work has yet been done look the same the day i dropped it off which is june 20th 2013
on another note are you gonna get some cams done at all ?

It's hard work chasing people like that down,especially when they've got your stuff.
Cams....not sure again.....if I do,it'll be when the head comes off for the valves to be done,and I'll also decide around then as to what sort of head work should be done.
I spoke to Race Developments a month or so ago about it,and they hadn't done an S3 head before,and had only done some work on the 2.0TFSi for APR,who aren't that interested in the S3 head.
So....let's see.

They are very well made engines,with few weak spots,and you really can get a lot of power quite easily at Stg2+,or a lot more power with a fair bit of cash at Stg4.
To get into the 500s does take a fair bit of doing,and realistically means an engine rebuild,and a lot of work on fuelling,whereas the step from 550bhp on takes at least as much work again.
I have a very good friend on another forum who's set the bar at over 700bhp on race fuel,but the quality of his work is amazing.
Mine needs the secondary fuel system for the extra injectors to be built up,and then the head and valves to be sorted before much more gets heaped on,and my real problem is time,not just for me,but also on AMDTuning's side,as they're justifiably busy.

Still mulling over a bit of weight loss.....
Not mine obviously,but the rear seats just never get used,and that's around 60kgs in one hit,then a pair of carbon seats for the front would lose another 30kgs.
Those together would amount to a free bonus of around 20bhp/tonne.....hard to ignore plus I fancy a set of new seats.

Given the other mods you've done I'd say do it. If you have rear seats it always encourages random people to ask for lifts, then they just scuff your sills, slam the doors and leave a load of crap and debris in your rear footwells. Nothing a good bus ride wouldn't cure. If it's in budget it's easier HP than many mods. Weight is the enemy!

I've thought about it for ages,and just not got around to it,but it's easy to do,and costs next to nothing (even if I have AMD do the donkey work!).
Might help offset the biggest piece of lard in the car,and leave more space for the dog when he needs a ride.

On the weight loss I agree with Warren, I think considering how far you have taken the rest of the car it would be fools play not to shred the additional weight. Especially if it is unused weight. Easy gains for little effort (on AMD's behalf anyway).

Having an unhealthy love of carbon bike bits (Just paid 200 sheets for a pithy carbon seatpost), I can only begin to imagine. Friend! I'm not sure you can call a man a friend when he brazenly makes attempts to empty your wallet with each interation ;-)

You should see his two cars.
The quality of what he's doing makes mine look decidely second rate.
The Boulekos manifold was partly his doing and my other mate from Romania who has one already on his Golf R...so at least I knew it would fit and work.
I had a set of carbon/kevlar seats in the Escort,but these things are another level.....but you can have them covered in some sort of suede(!) so you don't stick to them.

Just gone up to 4.5kgs with the seat runners....LOL,but that's still 20kgs lighter than the OEM heated buckets,and there's still the rear seats to come out.
I've asked Ben@AMD to look into fitting the thing,as Tillett aren't that far from AMDTuning.
The cost of both seats made me wilt a bit......

God, OT I know, but I stripped a very nice ladies car of the fuel pump, follower etc & the follower was holy as such, such a bad state, you wouldn't believe it, fuel pump end was worn down at an angle & the cam was tbh fecked, so replaced the pump/follower to get the car running & now its at audi for the cam, unreal state, no wonder it was running so bad, amongst numerous other issues, like dv screwed, charcoal goosed, few other sensors/valve parts, how Stoke Audi could let the car become so bad is beyond me, her cars been suffering from so many issues since 2008, I was shocked.
Headlights were flickering on/off which looks to be D1S's goosed, rear wiper motor, but I was truly shocked to see how bad that bucket was knackered/worn through.
Only issue is now, because the cam profile is way gone, it cuts boost when full tilt as no expected fuel pressure, tomorrow when cams done I hope it is fully working now so I can do the tech side on the car, but the dv change made a massive difference, took a while as 4wd & being an A3, its in an awkward place unlike the S3 but it flew afterwards.
I look forward to driving it tomorrow/Friday with new cam etc.

The car you've been looking after sounds as if they'd simply not done most of the checks that we all do as a routine,and left it until it broke.
I'm just receiving advice from Ben about how the chosen seat might not be the most ***-friendly,so I'm looking at the opposition as well.
Yeah its been very badly maintained & she has been taken advantage of, poor soul, but she's running better now, just waiting for audi now then I can test the girl out for all the issues, the car that is
