Top Gear's Back!!

so is the toothpaste thing a private school thing cos I have never heard of it ??

I think it's just one of those things you do or for a bet. I've done it with deep heat before never again lol

I liked it especially the Bmw bit and they constantly ripping him for not being able to drive in a straight line, bike bit went on a bit but was funny.

It was an OK episode for me, I like the 918, looked pretty cool!!

The Bike bit was a bit OTT, as for the toothpaste thing...no idea here either...I've heard of the Deep Heat Rub on them, but not their version.

I wish I just tuned into the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes tbh...

Everything in between was just about passable as entertainment with the odd extreme joke thrown in for good measure.

Still looking forward to the two part Xmas/Easter special though

How scary must it have been when the Beemer spun out.
My god it shows you can lose it at any time... It won't stop me flooring it to the speed limit though haha

The BM losing it was scary for sure, even Clarkson looked a bit scared and im sure he has been in a few hairy moments in his time!!

lol, i'm not asking why warren_S3 :search:

I'm a bike-ist with careless hands! First bike ride in 6 months on Saturday so I smeared the undercarriage before donning some lycra and it gets everywhere. I'd love to boast I was doing something more ladish, but I'm a tedious old b*****d so I'd be lying!

Yeah he definitely looked like he was passing something, funny to watch

Anyone think that was a set piece?

Nothing would surprise me. In ten years we'll probably be reading in the papers he's on MB's payroll to rubbish BM & Audi wherever possible! (Remember Quentin Wilson & Honda.....)

Actually, on second thoughts, that makes sense. If it had been a set piece, there would have exterior shots of the spin, and there weren't any.

LOL..we love this program really dont we???

I doubt it, he aquaplaned and sh!t his pants! That's hard to setup methinks, with a Golf GTI next to him!

Yea, that definitely was not a setup. At 120 going sideways, the risk of rolling is very high and you could see by his reaction that he was shocked. The thing is you could see how much standing water was on the track/runway, it wasn't just damp/wet it was completely covered in water and most likely after a few journalists have had a go in that M135i there probably wasn't much tread on the rear tyres, so the risk of aquaplaning is very high, and aquaplaning under full throttle in a RWD car usually means spin.

So last nights episode....

Did anyone else struggle to stay awake!?

The special episodes are never as good. They have some funny elements, but they're not as good as the regular episodes.

I can't believe it's a 2 parter as well, I'm, er, looking forward to next week.

I dunno, in the past several years Top Gear has been aiming more and more at entertainment and less about car facts and real life comparisons between cars.

I think the special episodes around Xmas used to be so enjoyable because it was completely joking about and being petrol head Brits abroad without the 'normal' episodes around to compare; some of my most memorable Top Gear moments are from the special 2 parters or longer installments.

Bolivian jungle, American arrive and buy, Vietnam with the bikes and the Polar race are all epic in my eyes and since the regular episodes are becoming more and more set up and obvious; it takes a lot away from the special installments.

#rantover

They're just living out their own fantasies at the license payers expense; who wouldn't do that if it was being demanded they kept on making programming.

I get the sense they're all bored of doing car tests anymore as they've probably been doing them for years.

Last nights episode was rubbish!!!

Its just the same old thing over and over again, as already mentioned, cant believe this is a 2 parter as well!!

Not sure if you guys saw my other post but Fifth Gear has started again on Discovery, its on tonight and I believe this is the series that has our very own Gops and his S3 in it :)

Im actually looking forward to that more.

Damn it I don't have discovery channel….

Going back to top hear, I don't think the BBC will stop it anytime soon. They are making a lot of money exporting the show around the world.

Well BBC 3 is going and thats a real shame, as i really enjoyed some of the programs that came or come on there.

It will become an online/Iplayer channel only - so some of your favourite shows may still be able to be watched.

Although I fear Family Guy and American Dad will be no more on free view :(

Sorry Top Gear Fans, but Fifth Gear puts it to shame.

Watching it now on Discovery & so far we've had the AMG A45 tested by Tiff, Golf R32 Old vs. New Engine Oil tested by Vicky, aaaaand an 8L S3 (anyone know who S3 GOP belongs to on here?) as a cheap alternative to the A45 driven by Jason.

Who says 5th gear is better? After watching Sundays top gear I'm now going to buy a lorry, act like mr Bean and drive through the hills of Burma. It's extremely informative, full of useful tips like putting bricks in the back improves the ride comfort or dumping the bricks in the middle of the road can help you get ahead of the traffic and up a difficult climb......

Joking aside, I am more and more disappointed in the show. It's like a cross between An idiot abroad and some holiday show..... Still parts made me laugh at their stupidity.....

Havent had a chance to watch Fifth Gear yet, so will try and watch it in the next couple of days.

Other than milking the Indy 500 coverage just a tad it was a good episode.

Looking forward to watching this.

Totally agree! These "Specials" should supplement the main programs, not replace them! ...maybe showing them on a different day or after the Series ends would be a better idea?

I want to see [fastish] Cars test driven & compared on the track, not Trucks - old & battered trucks at that. :(

Wouldn't bother, everyone else who watched it got rigamortis with boredom... To think that's it for the series; thank f**k for 5th Gear
