FMIC pipework

Hey guys,

Just took delivery of a very lightly used FMIC

It has the map sensor hole already there, in fact it has a bosch MAP sensor still in it BONUS !!

It has not very good silcone, but ill change that when l can. Anyways the upper pipe that goes to the turbo, that should have bungs for the DV and N75, well it only has 1 ??

Ill attach a picture. Is the only way to get round this, get another bung ally welded on or can l use a t-peice of sorts ??

You can take the vac source from your inlet mani for the dv

Should l just get it welded in beside the other bung ??

Any idea why it would not already have 1 ??

Its off a mk4 golf and im fitting it on a LC

those FMIC kits don't come with the N75 take off. it's a failling in the design.

if you're DIY minded and not useless, you can quite easily make your own using a 1/8th 6mm brass hose tail, drilled and tapped into the tube and sealled with chemical metal. I've done this on many kits for people without ever having issues.

if you're a mong (Only you can decide on that one ) you're best off getting someone to weld on a take off for you

Ok so l guess im getting an N75 take off welded on, but does it matter where ??

Also has anyone ever used the quicktap nipple ??

Read it on a us thread, seems they might only sell in USA ??

Also would you recommend longer silicone coming off the inlet/outlet holes ??

n75 can be run off intake plenum also... Not the norm but works as a boost feed

Sorry bill of the intake plenum ?

I seen that quicktap thing just goes onto the silicone hose that's attached to the turbo, but can't seem to find 1 in the uk.

Does the way I have assembled it in the prev picture look correct Bill ?

Any tips on how to mount the core to the car ??

Pretty sure merlin motorsport advertise the fittings you can stick in a silicon hose.

First hose off the turbo is backwards on that pic mate, as is the cold side pipe from the IC to the throttle body.

Oh, and the second hose after the turbo is also backwards!

The little fixing tab taht's bent back on yours would line up with the lifting eye on teh head when the kit was new.

Prawn can you give me any advice with the mounting of the core ?? I've read your guide but the part where you talk about the brackets etc, the pic is missing lol

Cold side pipe is absolutely the wrong way I'm afraid dude. Or at least, it's certainly the opposite way from the intended design and how I've fitted them all previously. Seen a few fitted that way round and tehy never sit right.

You'll find there's a fair bit of trimming required to get it all in, the side trays will need cutting on the left hand side to get the pipework through, the horn bracket will need bending out of the way a little

As far as brackets go you're on your own there I'm afraid chap, that core is slightly different to the one I used years ago. I tend to get a stock of angle sections from B&Q and a supply of M8 bolts and make something work usually
