My cars just developed an annoying rattle when driving along. Its rattling even when not going over harsh bits in the road. It sounds like its right next to me on the drivers side, so was thinking maybe drivers or rear door?

Are there any common rattles it could be? Its driving me nuts!

An old car I had did my head in for a couple of weeks with a constant rattle, turned out to be a small bit of suspension spring rattling around in the mounting cup.

Just did my headrest.. It could move sideways and made noise when doing so.. Slammed it to the seat.. No noise now..

turn the radio up :)

Drive around with someone else in the car, perhaps in the back seat. If you know any medical type people with a stethoscope, that's a really good way to track things down. Also check the various heat shields under the car, they are known to come loose as the fasteners corrode.

I have this too,got a pal to drive as its doing my nut in!
Well traced it to rear passenger side. Seems to rattle behind seats nxt to wheel. Cant get behind the tupper ware.
Very frustrating

My avant does this too. To fix it it took all of 5 seconds. I just removed both of my hearing aids and the noise has gone! It's amazing. The wife argues that I haven't fixed. But I have, because I can't hear it anymore! Job done.

But seriously it's trim in the boot I think that rattles on mine....

Christine is a different kettle of fish! Hearing aids or not I can ruddy here the thing rattling away!

Ha,mines more directly behind the rear seat. Not really coming from the wheel lining as such.
Near the top of seat belt but sort of behind it

I thought that too, even had the rear door card off to find it.. Until I gave my headrest a shake.. Then I found the problem... Sounded like seatbelt/ rear door

Load cover are known for this and the headrest rattle.
As WAHLSTROM said, slam the headrest down to get rid of that rattle.
Load covers (on Avants) need to be slid onto the seats all the way down and the hook things tend to rattle.

Mine rattles on the fuse box cover to the side of the dash, It never did until I disturbed it when having to replace a fuse.
Can't get rid of it now, its here to stay......

Can you explain a little more please? My rattle could be coming from there too! :)

Dan

The end flap of the cover (where the handle is to pull it) was caught and was stuck pointing down into the boot. Once I moved it to its correct place, no noise :)

Or swap them..

Really. I actually sat in the back and cld nesr enough pinpoint it towards the top end of seat belt. Wish is was head rest!

Some how got to get behind the tupaware (behind rear seat) :-(

Any joy in sorting this? My rear load cover was giving me grief and kept coming off of the hooks too, but I made some wooden lugs and glued them in place, made them about the same shape as the Audi fix for them, and it's worked.
The remaining rattles now appear to be the windows, they are electric front and rear and potentially the cables in some of the windows are a little slack, or a plastic holder / retainer has cracked in the door.

Anyone with rattle where the bass sits.. When music is playing and I'm outside the car I can hear this bass-rattle.. Checked where it sits and everything seems tight...

Found my f,in rattle noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gave up looking from the top area.
Removed wheel (rear p/s) wheel and arch lining, bang! There it is...
Missing bolt from the top strut of the damper.

Make things worse the nut was still in there,no head!
Drilled it out,new bolt in.

Oh im so happy now no rattling
