Hey guys
Anyone using ST springs or H&R springs to dump their S3?

Considering 25mm all around by H&R...or....ST 30mm front and 20mm rear.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you want even drop then the Eibach front springs are probably the best option, they level out the car perfectly and the shipping costs to Aus will be way less as they're just a pair?

Yes I thought about that to as the s3 rear sits fairly low already stock. Have you used the eibach drop on the front? I want to drop the front by 25-30mm. Not sure if I'll be happy with just 20mm eibachs which I've come across.

Muzza!! Just read your build thread. I'm fitting 18" oem rs4 style wheels. Your cal looks low already in the pics and I guess the 19" rotors help that affect. Do you believe that 19" helped clear some gap?

I've just ordered mine but not fitted as yet, that said there's plenty around who have and the drop is perfect, matches the rear 100%

For example:

Here's mine completely standard on the same wheels, you can see the front is a good bit higher.

Yeah the 19" helped cleared comparing that pic with 18"s

That's the same style wheels I'll be fitting.

What's the ST reputation like in uk/eur? Thinking ST pack with the 20mm rear and 30mm front might be good with the 18"s

This is my A3 sittin on kw v1 with 18"

Hoping to get the s3 sittin like this with springs since the stock shocks can handle em.

Not a fan of that raked look... I understand why people do it tho, with the front arch being higher, but well prefer the flat look...

interesting subjuct though... Mine are going on, week after next so, i'll be doing before and afters on the 25mm H&Rs

Erm.... that's a pro-kit drop, perfectly flat all round, same gap front and rear......?

Edit: Oh are you talking about the black one above?

Hey buddy Im running H&R springs all round and I can confirm it gives a totally equal drop. I wouldn't be a fan of installing just front springs, that's just weird in my own personal opinion and would wreak havoc with my OCD lol.

Here is a side on phone pic of my s3. Sorry for the bad quality.

Hope this helps mate.

S3 Jacko, I'm confused what you are referring to by raked look? Some neat before and after pics would be great.

S3 trev thx for sharing the pic and info. You drop 25mm all around? I'm with you on the OCD bout not doing rears and only fronts, although I can see where Murray is coming from as the rear is fairly low stock. Are you happy with the handling and look?

I'm also not a fan of negative rake(front end higher than the rear),but also not a fan of dropping the car too far.

If you drop much more than 25-30mm,there is a bit of a risk of bottoming out over bumps at speed, and I've seen some real comedy examples of that, from cars so low that they simply can't drive quickly on a normal road.

Here's mine.....dropped by about 25mm,on kW Clubsport suspension.

Is this with the Eibach springs , as that looks perfect to me , ordered some 30mm drop eibach's last night for mine

Real nice Alex! The local guys who fit springs coils etc said the same thing you just said about bottoming out. One pot hole or bump could really cost ya, so he recommended KW v3s. *** costly so might just keep as is for a while. Also mentioned eibachs just on front won't be good for handling. Was so close to ordering em to.

Alex are yours coilovers? Club sport different from the Variant series?

Hi there...thanks.

The kWs are coilovers, and have a wide range of bump, rebound and height adjustments.
If you can wait, and buy them, they are a good investment...!

The pic below is the Clubsport front above, with the v3 damper below....

And one of the Clubsport on it's own....

Aside from internal differences, the outside changes are adjustable topmounts, and linear rate springs, which are more suited to track use perhaps, whereas the v3's and others use more comfortable variable rate springs.

Yeah mate 25-30mm. Not sure I never actually measured lol. But think its 25. I am happy with the look but not the handling, as I am still running on the standard dampers, which generally isnt advised. I plan to buy coilovers this week (KW V3's possibly) so I will have these springs up for sale if you are interested.

Personally I prefer the stance from the ST by KW springs.

Damian @ DPM Performance

Will be ordering from yourself this week hopefully Damian. Just deciding between the KW V3's an the Billy B16s.

Sounds like I'll have to do some
overtime to get these KW V3s to haha. Maybe V1s as I'm happy with them on my A3. Thx for honest opinion on the handling Trev.

Will be worth the wait, but just hate waiting. :\

Damian I reached out to you via email and thought id get some feedback from the people also. The option of the ST 20mm rear and 30mm front package sounds ideal. Just worried about the feel of the ride. If only I could try em out. Need an embassador in Oz? Haha

Apologies for confusion guys for using that pic... Dont like higher arch gap at front... Front higher, negative rake look or positive look like you get on a lot of A3s

Same arch gap, nice and flat....

Need to really stop writing posts when tired... Like now ha

This looks perfect to me... White 1 still looks as if it has a bit of forward rake, i.e nose down... Arches are cut higher on fronts than rear... Like the skirts to sit perfectly flat not pointing in either direction...

Just my personal preference

I know what you mean now. I dropped the front 10mm more after the pics were taken on the black a3 and it looks much better now. Trevs looks perfect.

Before you go discounting the eibach's completely because someone told you it wont handle good with just front springs....

The pro-kit is designed purely to take up the arch gap difference at the front whilst retaining the OEM spring rates, lets face it do you really want stiffer springs than standard, they're pretty stiff as is?

Eibach know their stuff, they wouldn't sell miss-matched springs that would ruin the handling lol

Pls give us some feedback once you fit em Murray! Seems like many ppl go H&R for springs. Havnt heard much feedback for eibach fronts only. The guys who told me are full track day heads and always recommend coilovers lol. Ballin so hard.

Don't forget that by just lowering the front, you're altering the balance of the car affecting understeer, turn-in, dive etc.
I've recently fitted Eibach Pro-Kit front uprated springs, no complaints here as it's greatly reduced understeer, sharpened up turn-in and given a more positive feel even for aspects like braking.

Hoesty, I have just bought the KW V3's from DPM performance. I will inform you of what I think of them once installed and set up

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

It's worth spending a fair bit of time getting the bump and rebound settings to what you're happy with, and that does make a lot of difference even over the factory settings.

Hope you like the results.

Haha. Il wait till im happy with the KWs then sell them on. Will prob have to go local though due to the weight of them and the fact I live in NI.

I can vouch for this, front end feels a lot more planted over stock spring height.
