What have you done today?

i had a little run with a mate that has a vr6 2.8 12v in his ibiza gti and it sat side by side with my s3? its a bam engined s3 aswell so supposedly 225 when they left the factory?

Dave you should get a group buy going on wheel spacers next :icon_thumright: I've got my AP coilovers and your tie arms sat here.. just need the spacers..

Cleaned my maf today, didn't appear dirty but what a difference it made, used electrical contact cleaner and gently agitated it with a cotton bud then dried off with an air line.

Car seems to have more poke and picks up better and so much smoother power, no more flat spots. Really impressed me for a standard 13year old a3

I didn't buy these off Dave . He was just kind enough to lend me his so I could take the measurements and make a drawing to copy them . The hardest bit was finding the right grade aluminum . Just need to get longer wheel studs/bolts for them now . Thanks again Dave .

Spent all night welding the head onto a nuclear reactor, which is pretty much all I've been doing for the past 3 weeks. Finished last night though so I can play with the car again now I'm off nights.

In tthe past few weeks I've had Forge silicone coolant hoses turn up, s3 disks and carriers, and painted the spare calipers a dull gold colour. Polybushes for my dogbone mount, and a LCR splitter. I'm going to be busy on the weekend :D

Tony Gold, did you ensure that they refitted the scuttle panel properly afterwards, as they always mess up on that!!

Nice one, hear too many stories about windscreen replacements not being done properly!!

Car all booked in for bilstein b8's, Polly bushes, red dog mount, drop links, track rods ends etc, roll on Tuesday, should drive like a new car!!!

Pair cast front lower arms from eBay... nice wee surprise.... allready fitted with poly bushes for £65!!!! Something to do for the weekend

Better nick than what I have now

Mark

That's more impresssive than most posts so far in this thread. I'm sure in reality it's just like a big soldering iron, but it sure sounds impressive to me.

The reactor head itself just looks like a big stainless pot with a load of cables poking out of the top. Then it's all tig welded on, around 60 runs all freehand around it's 32ft circumference. Took quite a while!

Woke up just.. With a thought that I need a bigger turbo.. Mmm

Most of my mates are spending silly money on gifts and places to go for valentines day- I'm sat here calculating how much I have to spend on car parts and when to get them fitted :) lol

Anyway- on subject....I'll be putting a few hundred miles on the S3 today- off to Suffolk to pick up a motor for a friend....so will check the tyre pressure and fluids before I set off- fingers crossed I don't come across a slow puncture or nail :-\

The car is VAG but unfortunately doesn't have the 4 rings :(

ALTHOUGH there is something very interesting at this garage with 4 rings that will warrant a pic off that I'll post up :)

Not today, but my new brake discs arrived yesterday, just need to find a dry day to fit them and test them out!

What have you gone for Joe? I've got some Brembo Jnrs to fit. Dying for some space and good weather.

LAVELY! For heat dissipation purposes I assume (not forgetting how aesthetically pleasing they are!! Hubba hubba!!). Also presume the 4mm spacer is on the carrier for the Brembo calipers?

How much did you pay for those JOJO as that's the next on my list

That's a secret. :eyebrows:

Yes, spacer for the carrier.

Fitted led side lights bulbs (quite fiddly with large hands) and attempted to remove maf to clean, only to find my anti tamper torx heads don't fit :( will remove the plastic part instead so the maf stays seated.
Dave

Completely forgot I had a set of those tie bars on order, will hopefully turn up soon so I can stick my dogbone and new wheels on!

Did oil and filter change, with 5w 40 triple QX fully synthetic and Bosch oil filter. Also did Haldex oil and filter, very easy job, once you know where the filter is and changed my fuel filter. The fuel filter had only done 9,000 miles so what was coming out was still very clean. Jobs for Sunday are my putting my NGK BKR7E plugs in and hopefully my hose and T piece turn up so I can get cracked on with the N249 bypass.
