8V S3 Tuning Thread

APR are getting warmer toward ecu remap!

About the oem wheels: i have the double 5 spoke star design 18''. Do we know what are their acctual weight?

Thought it was about time this was added to with an update!
Car's going to Milltek a week on Monday. I'm expecting good things as their new Golf GTi with full turbo back exhaust has added 20bhp. Shark have then fettled it to stage 2 and it now has 312bhp, not bad from 229 standard!
Can't wait! Been given a choice of tail trims (ooer) too, I'm going for black coated but don't know whether to go for twin ovals (1 each side) or stick with the standard 4 (2 each side). Any opinions?!
 
I'd go ovals personally, but only if the rear diffuser enclosed the tips, as it does on the RS4 and RS6. The way the S3 diffuser is, I think quad tip suits better.

I'll take up the offer on the system if they can do it in Oz haha!!

The diffuser won't enclose the tips so I think you're probably right.

Unfortunately Milltek development is based near Derby in the UK!!
 
Definitely keep the quads, mine also goes in on the 17th for the exhaust doing.

Any if you guys worried about making the car worse by adding an aftermarket exhaust? I put Milltek exhausts on my last two cars as soon as I could but not so sure if I'll go with them again on the S3; worried it might spoil the whole Q-car thing I was going for...

Anybody considered Capristo? They have an electronically controlled valves exhaust - I'm sure some clever sod could get it working with the Drive Select system - that would be cool!

I don't think you'll find any info on it until they actually release it. Tends to be how APR does things.
 
Just a quick one. We have fitted H&R springs and wheel spacers (11mm Forge front, 20mm TPI rear) We will be releasing a kit soon but heres a sneak peak. PM for more info or see our progress thread

S3's going to Milltek on Monday, can't wait to hear the results....

I'm very interested in how this goes and looks on yours, if I like what you get done, they may well have an order from me too

Do you know if they are installing a valve?

I'm not sure if there's a valve in the exhaust I'll see what they say but if there is I'll have one back in. They'll basically let me have the car back exactly how I want it, so full turbo back with sports cat and twin black tailpipes. Still not sure whether to go with resonated or non resonated? Really don't want it ridiculously loud all the time but hopefully if there is a valve that'll sort it.

It's going to sound real good but could be pretty loud with the full system inc sports cats!!

Do you know if they got a donor S3 SB yet?
 
They've got mine all week mate but they're only 15 miles away. I'm sure they'd only need a sportback for a day though as they'll have developed the majority using mine. Where you based?
 
Changing to a aftermarket exhaust can very often reduce output dont be fooled by extra noise unless the backpressure of the exhaust system is correctly adjusted all sort of problems can arise

That's usally only a problem on normally aspirated cars, rather than turbo cars, best way to make power is a decat and a nice lightweight titanium system will improve the power/weight

Decat is highly illegal here in Australia heavy $10,000 fine for both mechanick and driver , decat only on track going cars also loud as and fumes can escape inside car and become poisonous

I've never heard of anyone being poisoned by a decat before... sounds like the Australian government feeding you guys a load of **** to justify them stopping every kid driving a Honda from sticking a straight through exhaust on with end pipes the size of dustbins. Bzzzzzzzzzz...bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz SOMEBODY SHOOT THAT RICER CAR!!!
 
All my cars have been decat over the last 13 yrs never had an issue,
